Hi all ! Below is my Car Audio System Details(Proton Wira Salon)

KenWood CD/MP3 player (KDC-8533)
KenWood 6X9" 2way rear speaker(KFC-6950ic
KenWood 6" Front speaker(KFC-1659s)
1 pair of tweeter
Brother's AMP (1600Watt) currently is using on two 10" KenWood Woofer(KFC-w2503)

My question is, This kind of setup need to change the front speaker to Component Set?
If change the Front speaker, the rear speaker need to change also?
The quality of sound will improve if i buy a AMP to support my rear and front speaker without change the speaker to component set??
normally i listen to all type of music, mostly R&B and hot song. But i also listen Kenny-G music.
So , Any idea? Thanks!

Brother, I suggest you throw away your 6X9 rear speaker. Why? Because you already had a pair of 10' woofer. So no need 6x9 to produce bass. I suggest you to change front set to component set. Because, if have a component set, it will make ur treble sound more sharp and better that using a front speaker and a tweeter. If you change it to component set, it will more better you put a amp for your component set.

hi all smile.gif

i'm a complete noob to ICE, but would like to try to get a bit better sound from my system, so hope to get some advice here =)

currently i drive a mitsu triton, which is generally quiet... "for a truck". not much wind noise in general driving, but will get some engine noise and a bit of road noise from the large tyres.

anyway currently my system is stock except for the front speakers which i changed, it is:
HU: Kenwood KDC-MP4033
Front: Alpine STE-174R 6.5" 3-way
Tweeters: stock
Rear: stock 6.5"

the pair of Alpine STE-174Rs I put in gives relatively good, clear sound for the front, so now i am looking for a bit punchier bass. right now the bass is either lacking from the Alpines, or very "muddy/messy" from the stock rear speakers.

my problem is that being a truck, i can't easily just plunk in any old speaker, or subwoofer. i only have 6.5" slots in the rear... icon_question.gif

my budget is limited (hopefully less than RM750), and i'm also aware this is a truck, and as "quiet" as it gets, it's still only quiet "for a truck". so i'm not looking for anything too high end. just some speakers that can fit into my 6.5" slots, but geared primarily to filling in the lower bass ranges as much as possible. although i sometimes like to play my music loud (but only for my own enjoyment), i value clear sound over the loud music. my music tastes are very wide, so can't really pinpoint anything, but if it helps, i usually listen to 70s rock, electronica, jazz, and classical. appreciate any advice that anyone can give.

Thanks! notworthy.gif

Thanks Driftmeister =) There is some space behind the back seats biggrin.gif but not much. I did not think that i would be able to fit any speakers there, but i will have to re-check that. Currently it's home to the jack & tools, and we also plan to put some additional tools there, so another worry i have is if i put additional stuff there, whether they will start banging against the speakers or something...

i've been looking again at the rear doors, and think that maybe with some modification i might be able to fit some 6x9s there. but this will require some major cutting of the inside door panel and i haven't done stuff like this before, so i don't know whether there are places that can do this nicely or not. also as it involves quite a bit of custom work on my new baby i don't know if this'll be above my budget.. sweat.gif

perhaps trying to fit some speakers to the back of the seats might be the best way to go... sorry if this is another total noob question, but will the placement behind the seats muffle the sound too much, or will it be ok? tongue.gif

Any sifu that know best setup with SONY HU.. i'm consider with one 10" / 12" woofer later on for small pump of bass, but some said that 6x9 is should be remove sad.gif is there any big big consequence if put the woofer + 6x9 rear speaker?

Give me ideas so i can still keep the 6x9 rear speaker.. thanks.

u wanna keep the 6x9? then dont use woofer.

if u wanna use the woofer either throw or change the 6x9 for 6" 2-way components/2-way coaxials

6x9 spoils the bass from the woofer. no idea why...it just does. some say itll sound like shit but my friends old car u cant even hear the bass from the woofer when the 6x9 are plugged in. just unplug the wire and the woofer starts booming again. plug back the 6x9 and the woofer goes back to being silent. but u can see the woofer moving and pumping as if its running normally...

I got some advice that if im not into heavy bass. Pioneer built in MOSFET 50wx4 is good enough to power up a set of component speaker and a pair of 6x9 speaker. A normal MRV V12 4 channel amp will only sound more blurry. Is this true?

I'm currently using Pioneer DEH 1550.

Added on February 22, 2007, 2:01 pmHi all sifu...

My current ICE stage 2

Car : Kancil only sweat.gif

HU : Pioneer DEH1550

Front speaker : Kancil stock BETAMAX 6.5" 2 way (being tuned for Vocal purpose using a capacitor for each speaker)

Tweeter : None as i'm saving for component speaker

Rear speaker : SOundstream XTS6.9 6x9 speaker (set as Subwoofer mode using FIE setting from Pioneer)

AMP : None as im currently using Pioneer MOSFET 50

Question :

Is my 6x9 sufficient for bass? As i don't really intend to put subwoofer.

My sifu says that - Double magnet is just more to marketing gimmick - it does not have any noticeable effect. It just strengthen your magnetic field.

When buying a sub woofer, look for the frequency respond and the sensitivity.
