Some points to note for those intending to get the WiFi only version :

- that 3G isn’t the only thing you give up with this tablet. It appears processing power and Bluetooth connectivity have also been downgraded.

Though both the 3G and Wi-Fi only versions of the Galaxy Tab pack a “1GHz A8 Cortex processor”, the 3G version uses a PowerVR SGX 540 GPU, while Wi-Fi only was downgraded to the 530. In addition Bluetooth is limited to 2.1, not 3.0, which may have foiled one user’s attempt to pair it with a keyboard and mouse.

This is not a problem, at least not for me. Just check your 3rd party apps - these are usually causing the hangups. If one had been using cracked apps or those obtained from dubious/ahem sources just be ready to face such issues - sudden freezes, reboots . I don't think is rom issues as since stock rom till all the cooked roms I have been on, I do not faced hanging. And I never install apps that will affect system files - called me paranoid ; apps such as task killers, battery improvement apps, battery calibration, anti virus etc : never believe in using such stuffs

Temperatures - just monitor as everyone hot or warm is subjective. Operating temperatures from 32 degree to 45 degree centigrade is normal. As long as you are seeing such, no need to worry about it. If your Tab is on wireless thether as hotspot to others or downloading thro 3G more than an hour , be prepared to see temp hitting even 50 degree C

Hi,

I just bought Tab wifi version..

only to found out later on that the processor/GPU being downgraded..and blutooth as well.

I haven't got the unit yet, probably 2 days later..

So this downgrade, is it really significant? No wonder I saw the display unit, it's not so smooth when I move things around. but I hope it won't displease me ~.~

So 3g unit is much much smoother in term of UI/animation?

I am so new to Android and this will be my very 1st Android gadget for me to have.

It's for my dad's birthday, but of course, the back end job will be my responsibility..

Anyway, it's already been paid for. Hope to make use of it and to be in love with it wink.gif

I just refuse to buy an iPad, wanna try Android ^^

Benny I use the above tips to bypass activation
for WiFi network without 3G data subscription.

I would keen to know whether I can revert the activation bypass ?

Or do you know other ways to use WiFi access only?
