QUOTE(bluebay @ Mar 2 2011, 12:39 PM) "Married couples may file for joint assessment, but separate assessment is deemed to be more effective in lowering overall tax liability." It depends on the individual income of husband and wife. If both are high-income earner, better to separate assessment to lower taxesdo u guys agree on the above statement? Individual tax relief = RM9000 Spouse tax relief = RM3000 |

QUOTE(dcon @ Mar 2 2011, 07:50 PM) Hi, If you do joint-assessment with your wife, you need to add her RM2k x12 into your total income. My wife monthly salary is about RM2k, I know that she is not entitled for tax, thus she has never open a file with LHDN, we had married for 5 years and she has not declare her income tax before and so far I only declare tax for myself. I just aware that if join account, spouce is entitle for RM3k deduction. Can I declare my tax this year and also combine my wife income so that i can entitled 3k deduction? If I want to have combine declaration, does my wife require to open a file with LHDN? Thanks NOT WISE move.... 24k income vs 3k wife tax relief |

QUOTE(penangmee @ Mar 6 2011, 03:20 PM) REfer to IRD public ruling 1/2005 para 7.3.23 example 22. That's right based on the PUBLIC RULING NO. 2/2005 (DATE OF ISSUE: 6 JUNE 2005)... so I can claim the medical portion for wife (joint-assessment) if the total (wife+mine) doesn't exceed RM3,000As Jothy has elected for combined assessment with Raj, the amount of insurance premium and EPF contribution paid by Jothy is deemed to have been paid by Raj - (paragraph 50(2)(a) and subsection 50(3) ITA). Therefore, Raj is deemed to have paid an amount of RM21,300 + RM4,800 = RM26,100. However, he is entitled to a deduction of only RM5,000. IRB ruling considered superior to MIA publication |

QUOTE(a-ei-a @ Mar 15 2011, 12:03 AM) Hi all, Popular receipt for item listed as BK and MG is counted as part of the RM1000 tax relief claims.....Is it both Books and Magazine eligible for income tax deduction? (As the item appear in Popular receipt tagged with BK and MG). Also, is allowance to work at Cyberjaya can be deduct under tax also? If you work in IDR, then you can claim tax relief, not Cyberjaya lah. |
