Anyone fancy a short review of the Onza Tournament Edition
What i liked: Rubberized body- The TE comes in a very nice rubberized body, feels comfortable to hold even in long hours and there won't be slippage. The standard xbox controller is hard plastic with a rough surface which can cause discomfort after playing long. Hyperresponse buttons- The XYAB buttons is what Razer tout as the hyperresponse buttons, and its the one feature i feel Razer delivered the best. Instead of the mushy high press distance of the standard Xbox controller buttons, here we get buttons that feels clicky, like a mouse click, a very welcome feature. Extra buttons: The two extra buttons above the left and right bumpers can be mapped to almost any other button, which can be useful in some games. For instance i mapped the right extra button to function the same command as my right stick button in Crysis 2 which does a melee attack at default, as its hard to aim with the right stick and press it at the same time to initiate a melee. Adjustable tension on left and right stick: Now this is another welcome addition. Because the sticks are higher than the standard xbox controller, there's more travel distance hence more accurate aiming in shooters. Add that with the adjustable tension, can set different resistant for different type of games ie. Higher tension for accurate aiming in shooters and looser tension for quick action games Rumble still retain- as stated What i didn't like: The left and right stick button: The buttons for the left and right stick is very very stiff and hard compared to the standard xbox controller. This cause me to have a hard time initiating RUN in Crysis 2 as thats on the left stick button by default, had to map the extra left bumper to copy the left stick button to rectify this issue. Maybe will be better after some seasoning The Xbox button: The xbox button, the very middle button on the controller, is just a sticker of the xbox logo, a very cheap looking sticker thats stuck in an inaccurate angle in alot of the units i saw. Even mine is slightly angled. Whereas the standard xbox controller has real beveled metal for its xbox button. This problem kinda ruins the overall look a little as the controller really looks awesome. Wired: Now im used to playing with my wireless standard xbox controller, having a wire suddenly is kinda annoying. But this is not Razer's problem, Microsoft is stringent on their wireless licensing. Other notes: The d-pad on the left has seperated buttons instead of the unified dpad of the original xbox controller. While this does improve on games like shooters where the dpad is use for selecting items/weapons, its still no better than the standard controller dpad when it comes to fighting games, so if you want to get something suitable for a fighting game, get a proper fight stick or fight pad. Is this worth the RM199 i paid? Most definitely, but i'm already experienced with playing shooters on controller, so it might be a little tough for anyone used to the mouse and keyboard setup. For anyone who already have the xbox standard controller, this is a worthy upgrade Cheers Attached thumbnail(s) |
