The discount works with the HSBC Amanah VISA I tried. So that can't be the reason.

QUOTE(azharsdin @ Sep 29 2012, 04:10 PM)
i applied for HSBC Amanah Platinum... just got the card today WITH a conventional GOLD Mastercard... Why did they send me a card that i didnt apply for?
*
Call the number at the back of your card and tell them you did not apply for the Gold MasterCard. Do it fast because when the next bill comes, you will see RM50 (credit card service tax) in it.

Just wonder why they made the card... Did they want to increase my card limit?

I have received my HSBC AMANAH CC at 2012-Jun, and agent told me that i must swipe minimum 3 time of transactions regardless any amount.

Till now I saw the cash back transaction as below..

26 Sep 2012  26 Sep 2012  GREAT GIFT AWAY CASHBAC    81.45  Cr

Fxxx... i cannot get the RM150 cash back because i didn't swipe the transactions with the selected merchant.

Fade up with this card already...
I will cancel it after 6 month later... useless card...

Always read the terms and condition for any promo, more so if it is a HSBC credit card promo.

Maybe you guys should see the Amount at the check out page before and after you enter your credit card number and issuing Bank as HSBC to see if the amount changes.

Never redeem anything from HSBC b4 but Citibank is very fast. I received my item in less than a week for a tumbler.

The GST (of RM50 right?) can be waived? I tried to argue earlier but was told nothing can be done. vmad.gif

No. Credit card service tax can never be waived. Banks are in no authority to waive the credit card service tax as it is not paid to them but LHDN.

Anyway, some banks do offer some cash or rewards points to offset the credit card service tax. And there is also this OCBC Bank TMC that automatically credit RM50 into your credit card account as long as you've spent at least RM10K in the past one year. The RM50 is given to you as a bonus to offset the credit card service tax.

And by the way, you can give up on trying to get HSBC to offer you free reward points to offset this credit card service tax because it just won't happen.

I'd like to mention to @chester_85, @Denis & @Vestor
You guys better learn and keep in mind what is the difference between GST offset and GST waiver. (Thanks Bro Miles!) I don't allow such wrong term to exist here.
