Bro, RM60 GST was a typo right ? Anyway, the rewards points needed to redeem RM50 credit card service tax from HSBC has always been at only 9,500 rewards points and you can do the redemption online  sweat.gif
*
yah, should be RM50. Aiyah, can do online, wasted RM0.30 doh.gif But thanks, next year will do it online instead.

Hey guys, I wanna ask something about HSBC Amanah M Power Platinum CC. The agent told me that they will waive the RM50 for GST.
In March'12 my card was approved and i just got my May'12 statement and i still did not get my refund for the Government Service Tax. I have already swipe lots and lots of transactions with the card. How long does it take for the GST to be refunded?
*
Call Customer Service and tell them what you mentioned above and get their response.

QUOTE(hye @ Jun 26 2012, 02:54 AM)
I would like to mention (possibly) a fraud by HSBC agents which occured during the recent Gas Conference in Malaysia. Unsuspecting customers (who were after free gifts) were asked to signed up for the cards which they could cancel with zero charge if they didn't like the card upon approval.

Of course we all know that the RM50 GST were payable the moment the cards were approved. To make matters worse, some of the greedy customers signed up for 2 cards and the bank refused cancellation of the cards unless both cards have been delivered and accepted by the customer + over the phone cancellation is not accepted.

I'm appalled that HSBC Malaysia has now stooped to such a seedy tactic to grow their customer base. If anyone here came across similar incidents, please do not hesitate to report such cases to HSBC Malaysia and BNM for further action.
*
haha, those greedy customers deserve it (pay GST).

As for cancellation of the card, well, since the "customer" did sign up and request for the card (as such deemed to have read and agreed to the terms and conditions), I guess they have to wait for the card to be in the system (delivered) before any cancellation can be done.

What RM150 cash back sweat.gif Go read the terms and conditions also can have a headache. And if I read correctly, looks like new card members who sign up from now until 30 June won't qualify for the RM150 at all.

The annual fee for the VISA Signature will be automatically waived too provided you use it at least 12 times a year.

Above is mentioned in Post#1 too.
Yah, our sis has been most helpful in copying stuff from the bank website and spoon feeding Vestor without understanding the product. But at the rate she's going reading about credit cards and being a contributor to this section, soon she be a credit card sifu thumbup.gif

Hahaha...dont shoot me la...anyway many thanks to jiejie fly126 for the explanation.

I kind of undecided between UOB/HSBC/Citibank. Not sure which two to keep. Seems like have to cancel HSBC then.
*Initially i took HSBC because of its benefit in golfing but this form of indulgence is no longer a luxury for me, time wise....sad.gif
*
Bro, I was not shooting you in any way. I was merely stating that fly126 was copying stuff and pasting them here, which I do the same too most of the time, hahaha. And with her being helpful in trying to assist you, she also learn about the card in question.

Coming back to your initial question

QUOTE(Vestor @ Jul 26 2012, 10:50 AM)
For HSBC Visa Signature, what are the benefits in term of:
- Dining
- Shopping
- Travelling
- Freebies
Will be very appreciated if any one can share on above, in a paragraph of two (without referring me to another link) smile.gif
*
HSBC card is good if you shop at Mid Valley or The Gardens. And since you just mentioned you got the HSBC VS, I am sure you also received their SMS on cash back promo for shopping and dining.

As for Traveling, well your UOB and Citi don't earn you up to 10X points for overseas Hotel and Dining.

For golf, the UOB Preferred Plat also offers free green fees at some selected golf club.

So in conclusion, you will know best what is good for you.

As for Airport Transfer, we got to wait for HSBC Visa Infinite tongue.gif

Speaking of this, i used my HSBC credit card at Mid Valley last month but i did not get the 5x HSBC Rewards Points. If my memory serves me correctly, i used it at Jaya Jusco and Guardian.
*
Bro, I see you still keeping your Premier WMC. By the second billing cycle if still not reflected in the Statement better call HSBC.

Yeah, haven't received my statement for this month yet.

By the way, I only keep this card due to its Agoda 7% promotion, and of course for some other promotions in HK as well. Understand the MBB VISA and MC 6% Agoda promotion is pretty much year-round too since they have extended it twice but I did the calculations and I still get to save more with this card   biggrin.gif
*
Last year, I also saved some money thanks to you sharing and teaching me to use my HSBC VS credit card to book with agoda.com thumbup.gif notworthy.gif

But now book rooms with agoda using the MBB VI to earn 5X TP and get 6% discount.

Just signed up for Amanah Card. Agent said the 8% now applies to all amounts spent on weekend. and RM150 is guarantee upon 3 swipes in 60 days.

Upon checking the discussion here, I have called her to confirm the same and she promised to send the latest promotion flyer for the above by Monday.

If it is not true, is it possible for me to cancel immediately now before its approval?
*
Wow, above two promotions really good. How come not in their website.

Bro, next time before you sign up for any card, better you see the offer in writing instead of believing what agent says. If she don't sent you the flyer then what happens? You already signed on the dotted line. Why don't you call HSBC CS to confirm if above is true and take down the person's name and time of your call for your records.

IF 8% for all amount on weekend, this Thread is going to V8 faster that current MBB 2 Cards V5.

Anyway, you may want to read my article on HSBC Amanah MPower Platinum i review

After I signed up for online account, automatically I stopped receiving paper statement and sometimes I forget to make payment doh.gif Today I received an SMS telling me what is my available CL, which is good. I can't remember most of the time what card and when I use for my transactions, so with the sms I don't have to log on to HSBC to see if I have Outstanding Balance or payment Due smile.gif

Those of you with HSBC credit cards, I am sure you received their SMS on up to RM100 Cash Back for Dining until 23 September 2012.

To read my short comments on the dining promo at my Wordpress blog click >> HSBC Credit Card Dining Promo August to September 2012. Basically, RM40K is allocated per week based on first come first serve basis and you get RM10 for each RM100 spent.

you better call HSBC CS now and tell them what you mentioned above and tell them you do not want the Gold Card. Take down the CS name and time of your call and then follow up with email.

my sister signed up for HSBC Amanah MPower Visa Platinum Credit Card-i..

she said, the salesperson said that there's  no more minimum spending to get 8% cashback.. and the limit is RM100 per month. the salesman said its not updated in the website yet, but he showed her the hardcopy with those new terms..

is it true??? i have doubts.. coz i hv a feeling the salesman lied.
*
The RM100 cap is correct subjected that one spends total RM5K and above. Well, she saw the hardcopy right, next time ask her take photo or ask for photostat copy. Where she signed up for the card?

Come to think of it, can somebody take a photo of it the next time they go to the mall.

And does your sis know that the 8% cash back is for Saturdays and Sundays only? Ask her to read my article on HSBC Amanah MPower so she knows her facts when complaining to CS about being conned, hahaha

If it is true, it will be a good thing and for sure HSBC will publish it at their website as soon as possible.

If it is true, I am getting the HSBC Amanah smile.gif

Dear All,

FYI, HSBC credit card is not Free For Life Credit Card. The min 12X swipes per year is not entitle for annual fees waive (Gold, Platinum & Signature).
You may refer to HSBC Credit Card Product Disclosure Sheet is HSBC website.

My Visa Signature have been charge annual fees of RM 600 and I have to call HSBC CS to cancel the card before they waive the annual fees.

Free For Life credit card is only for HSBC Advance.
*
I don't understand what you meant by min 12 swipes not entitled for annual fee waiver. HSBC has been waving my annual fee (Platinum and now VS) for years automatically without me calling them.

Hi Gen-X,

My HSBC Signature have been charge RM600 annual fees on 27/Aug/12 without auto waive.
I have swiped more then 50x @ RM 10K+++
Have to call HSBC CS just now to ask about the annual fees auto waive 12x.
The CS told me now no more auto waive for all HSBC CC except HSBC Advance & Premier.
When I told him to cancel my card, then only he try to offer to waive the annual fees.
But I have to pay RM 600 first for this current statement and HSBC will credit back the annual fees in next statement billing.
*
With your above post and my kiasu attitude, I just called HSBC CS and the guy told me that annual fee for all cards are still automatically waived with 12 swipes hmm.gif

Having said the above, the annual fee waiver condition is no longer stated in HSBC website and not stated in the Product Disclosure sheet too.

And I find it very odd that you have to pay first when they can credit back the RM600 into the account almost instantly.

I only have to worry about my annual fee next year since mine was auto waived few months back. And if another person reconfirmed he/she has been charged annual fee with 12 swipes and have to pay first, I am going to cancel my HSBC VS.

Posting your above post in page#1 so that others are aware. Thank you for highlighting your case.

hi everyone,

based on hsbc, it's scam email. really stress!

what happen?

11.30 a.m. - someone called my home and verify residential address
12.00 p.m. - email saying approve with links[SIZE=7]
1.47 p.m. - call center said no records
7.45 p.m. - call center said no records and they said they don't notify people via email.

think about it, when i submit application i didn't put in my email address. But my email is linked up with my savings account.

This is so risky! i wonder is internal job maybe!
*
Can anyone here confirm HSBC actually sent out email when an application is approved?

QUOTE(khorkahyong @ Sep 5 2012, 11:49 AM)
im a student. why can't talk about privileges as i'm also using the card? like you don't talk about advantages of cars when you are a student??

after i do some research, i found out that this card has not much benefits besides the waived of annual fees and other charges so i don't have to pay anything if i don't use it. i'm not going to spend alot with this cards so reward points seem useless for me.
in my case, i prefer a card which comes with free stuff, like free entry to airport lounge, so i can get some benefits from it even i seldom use the card. i think alliance platinum card has this kind of benefits.
*

Like you mentioned your Parent don't have Alliance Account - if they do and willing to make a deposit jointly with you above RM200K, you can be issued the Alliance Premier Debit Card, but the card only grants you free entry to LCCT Plaza Premium Lounge and not KLIA. How I know? My son has it and he can enter LCCT PPL with his Alliance Premier Debit Card. Same case should apply to RHB Premier Debit Card where under 18 are eligible for it, and this card better, it grants you access to KLIA and LCCT. But if your parents were to just go deposit RM200K with Alliance or RHB, they'll be earning less from FD if they were to go with other banks. So, in conclusion, it's not what card you prefer but what card your parent can issue you tongue.gif

Secondly, the Priority Pass Membership Card for entry to overseas airport lounge is only issued to the Principal Card Holder. For KLIA Plaza Premium Lounge, only Principal Cardholder are entitled to the Free Entry (maybe except for Citibank - can't remember correctly what was reported at Airport Lounge Thread). So, if you are 21 years above, go open a Premier or Priority or Privilege Banking Account and you can be issued a Principal Credit Card and get the Priority Pass Membership Card too smile.gif

Also take note, some Supp cards are not entitled to the Free Travel Insurance.

From what i remember, no. They do not.

I helped my mom to apply for a HSBC Amanah credit card sometime in 2009 and she did not get any email when it was approved. For my own case, which one was a pre-approved credit card and another one was a FD pledged credit card (FD pledged credit card still required approval), i did not receive any email from HSBC either.
*
Yah, no one ever reported they received any email from HSBC.

ericwen, out of curiosity, how you applied for the HSBC card? And you should bring to the attention of HSBC about the email so that they can investigate and issued warning in their website.
