My HSBC Visa Signature annual fee will be due soon, so I just called HSBC Toll Free and press 2 for BM so that I speak to a Malaysian smile.gif

I asked it I will get the auto annual fee waiver and the girl told me yes since I swipe more than 12 times... keeping my fingers cross and they don't impose me the annual fee when the actual anniversary date arrives. While on the phone told the girl to redeem my points to pay the RM50GST.

Follow up to my earlier post.

Well, I got my latest statement and they charged me both the annual fee and GST mad.gif

Call them up and explained to the person on the line that I called up last month and I was informed that my annual fee will be waived. She then gave me some excuse that they experiencing high call volume and someone will call me back between 3-6pm to attend to my complain. So, I said what rubbish, I want the annual fee waived immediately. I was then transferred to another person and she confirmed I did call last month on the annual fee waiver and requested that the GST be offset from my points. She said that my annual fee will be waived. So I said I will deduct RM650 from my Statement Balance and she advise me to pay the RM600 annual fee and later they credit back. Once again I said NO. I want it waived immediately and she said OK.

Anyway, the person on the line did say that next year annual fee will be waived with 12 swipes.... I am seriously considering cancelling my HSBC Premier Credit Card before my card anniversary next year if they continue to have this stupid policy of charging us the annual fee first and making us call them for the waiver. Why can't they just keep to their word that the annual fee will auto waived with 12 swipes vmad.gif vmad.gif vmad.gif vmad.gif vmad.gif vmad.gif

The only good thing about the HSBC Premier Visa Signature is that I get Toll FREE line, so there is no cost on my part to call them.

Just to update you guys, I checked online on 3 July 2013 and glad to find out that HSBC has reversed the annual fee charges and also credited RM50 using my reward points to offset my GST smile.gif

So... I called in advance to request for annual fee waiver for the coming statement. According to the CS, I have to pay first (the annual fee) and they will refund the amount to my account because their system "can't waive off automatically". Anybody facing similar problem?

I am holding Visa Platinum, btw...

Bro go read my post, i.e. post#1215 by clicking here or you can go read my comments at my Facebook account post dated 26 June 2013.

You see, what I did was:

No.1 - About one month before my card anniversary, I called to confirm that I am entitled to the waiver because I did swipe 12 times. Else I am cancelling the card. (suggest you record date. time and person you spoke to).

No.2 - Come anniversary date, they charged me the annual fee!!!

No.3 - Call them up again and refer them to my earlier call (No.1) where they confirmed that it will be waived. By doing so, they cannot go back on their words.

No.4 - They got the cheek to tell me to pay first and they then credit back to me. Told them no such thing and they waived the annual fee immediately.

So the question is, did the CS confirm your annual fee will be waived because you met the requirements, i.e. 12 swipes? If yes, then you same boat as me. If no, then good luck because you then have to convince the CS that you are not required to pay first and then they credit.

Here is where I find it funny on HSBC 8% cash back...

Monthly cash is limited to RM100.....

up to 2k is 5% = RM100

after 2k is 8%.... but because of the RM100 limit per month (you essentially get nothing after 2k)....

8% cash back card is only 5% cash back

In post#1 I have posted link to my review of the HSBC Amanah MPower Visa 8% Cash Back, if you missed it, click here and read my article and you will see that you are not getting 8% cash back.

For HSBC credit cards, always read and understand the terms and conditions and don't be fooled by their marketing strategies.

other that the benefits above which offered by the HSBC cc, compare with other bank, HSBC can enjoy addtional discount is certain shopping mall now, whereas,
OCBC titanium offered 5% cashback but no extra discount on shopping as HSBC, am I right? please correct if am wrong..

HSBC promotions are to entice you to spend more and more and more so that their cardholders have outstanding balances and they can make tons of money from the freaking high interest rates imposed. Whereas OCBC TMC offers you 5% cash back for daily expenses required for survival tongue.gif

I just posted in my article A Little Bit Of This and A Little Bit Of That Vol.1, Chapter IVe that I was surprised to find out that HSBC credit cards are entitled to 20% discount at Tai Thong restaurants until 30 June 2014. Luckily I had my HSBC credit card in my wallet as it saved me few hundred RMs smile.gif

Does anybody know if this means I got penalized for late payment? I forgot to make payment last month, and late for 3 days if I'm not mistaken. Once I remembered, I quickly paid them already.

Calling HSBC is the most hatred thing I would ever want to do, the call will never be forwarded to their CS. If it is late payment charges, I don't mind paying as it was my mistake. Now the problem is will this affect my credit history in the future? sad.gif
*
hahaha, why you use HSBC credit card. If you go read the T&C, they really have a Management Fee for Islamic Cards which I can never figure out what it is.

In the past, I also forgot to pay my HSBC bills twice in time because I don't get any paper statements to remind me after I sign up for online account. Just call them and request for the fee to be waive

But like you said, calling them can be very frustrating - click here to read my article My HSBC Visa Signature Pisses Me Off Big Time.

Sigh. I didn't know about this thing la. Yeah, I hate HSBC damn a lot now. I have some bad encounters with them, you could search that by just typing my name at the search box in this thread. sad.gif
Don't worry, I'm cancelling this useless card soon... sad.gif
At least I feel relieved that it is not late payment charges...

Sis, it may be late payment charges, I don't know, recommend you call them during office hours only and have it waived. The longer you wait, maybe got interest charges also.

oIC, you actually paid the so called fee. In that case just take it as a lesson learned for a RM2.13 fee laugh.gif And like you said, terminate the card and save yourself future headaches. With HSBC stupid auto tele-machine, it is just not worth it to hold a HSBC credit card.
