*
the Agoda offer is for all hotel with agoda and you get the discount provided that you book via hsbc link here.

However, I noted the link above says all HSBC credit card but if you read carefully it did not state Amanah i credit card, so call CS and ask if Amanah cards are entitled to the discount to reconfirm.

Just noticed that HSBC does not provide auto annual fee waiver for 12/24 transactions made.
*
read few pages back, it was reported by another member he was charged annual fee and CS told him no more auto waiver!!! I did call up HSBC CS and told they still have the 12 swipes auto waiver.... so I got to wait till next year to find out.

But you refer to Amanah website, still have the auto waiver back then.

I have received my HSBC AMANAH CC at 2012-Jun, and agent told me that i must swipe minimum 3 time of transactions regardless any amount.

Till now I saw the cash back transaction as below..

26 Sep 2012  26 Sep 2012  GREAT GIFT AWAY CASHBAC    81.45  Cr

Fxxx... i cannot get the RM150 cash back because i didn't swipe the transactions with the selected merchant.

Fade up with this card already...
I will cancel it after 6 month later... useless card...

Always read the terms and condition for any promo, more so if it is a HSBC credit card promo.

hi, i would like to ask, for hsbc amanah plantinum card, today i received the cc statement and it stated in the billing invoice that HSBC charged RM240 for the card and service tax for year 2012 RM50 ? (if its gov tax, im sure that i had paid the RM50 last time)... i had swipe more than freaking 12 times as per their requirement *min 12 swipes a year**, why are they still charging me despite monthly i swipe at least 4-5times ever since i got the card early this year?.. if that is so, going to cancel it if they could not explain what is that about... doh.gif
*
another member reported he was also charged annual fee, and at that time, HSBC removed the 12 swipe auto annual fee mechanism from their website BUT it was still stated in their Amanah website.

Call CS and ask. Please report back what the CS told you.

may I ask, if im upgrade my visa gold card to Amanah MPower Visa Platinum, is my reward points will be lost?
*
One card earns you reward points and another is a cash back card. And why do you want the HSBC Amanah credit card for? Even Maybankard 2 Gold card earns you more overall, unless you do need a credit card on weekends and the places you spend you money do not accept AMEX.

Rrecommend you read my article on HSBC MPower Amanah Platinum i versus Maybankard 2 Cards.

called them..they told me to just pay the amount that i spent and hold on the annual fee charges. they help me file a report regarding this matter. i wonder why would they remove the auto waiver fee since its easier to auto waive after 12 swipes a year.. this is really creating unnecessary troubles. doh.gif .. if the annual fee still there even after report is filed, i definately going terminate the card mad.gif
*
Thanks Bro for the update, looks like no annual fee waiver mechanism too for Amanah cards(?) IF you speak to them again, please ask if the 12 swipes auto annual fee is still applicable, if not, next year same thing. I also want to know and if got no auto waiver, going to cancel my HSBC VS before anniversary date next year.

juz receive call frm hsbc credit card center.

the lady ask me to apply HSBC Amanah MPower Visa Platinum Credit Card and also HSBC Visa Signature,

but i think with my income only can apply amanah mpower visa platinum.

i try google and donno if this card is better than my current maybank petronas gold card o not.

my petronas gold offer 5X when pump at petronas, weekends 8X.
points wont expire. overrall a lot of Merchant support maybank credit card with 0% installment.

i heard amanah mpower have annual fee? the lady say 1st year need pay, but 2nd year after 12time swipes they will waived it, since she talking v fast, cant really get what she's talking about.

my spending is pump petrol on weekends, 1 month about rm250~rm300, shopping on weekends also, 1 month rm300~rm400. dinning i normally use cash.

so is this card really better than my current one?

Did you read my earlier post where I gave link to the HSBC Amanah Card?

Click here to read my review of the HSBC MPower Platinum Amanah i

Click here to read my review of the HSBC Premier World MasterCard and Visa Signature Benefits.

And ask if both HSBC MPower and Visa Signature still offering automatic annual fee waiver with 12 swipes and mentioned it is not stated in HSBC website.

huh? you apply then only worry how to waive the annual fee? When you fill up the application form, did you notice anything about mechanism for annual fee waiver , e.g. Swipe 12 times.

*
If you pay minimum only, you are going to be imposed interest charges. The 0% installment plan is dependent on merchant (you can get the list from HSBC website or ask the merchant) and you must sign up for it on the spot when you are purchasing.

Since you are new to credit cars, I recommend you click here and read my Credit Card Tutorial.

Currently holding HSBC Gold card, but it seem like no any benefit attracted me to be spend. Only point for accumulated, but not cash back.  sad.gif

I'm prefer cash back rather than point accumulate, some more the point got expire time within 2 years, right??

But may I ask any benefits for HSBC Amanah MPower Visa Platinum Credit Card-i as I have go through with HSBC website, its seem like more attempt to hold a card for cash back.  hmm.gif
*
Click here to read my review of the HSBC Amanah MPower Platinum Card

I would say the HSBC Amanah MPower with 0.5% cash back for general transaction is better compared to your Gold or my Visa Signature which earn reward points.

If you want cash back cards, click here to my Cash Back Card Page to see list of cards offering meaningful cash back for transactions. Check out my article on MACH by Hong Leong Bank where I have a prepared a comparison table.

Much more appreciated on your comment and useful link.  notworthy.gif  thumbup.gif

Initially, I have decision that OCBC Tit credit card is my first choice on my daily spending in term of 5% cash back but I have no eligible to hold it. I know all the benefits for this cards and suit for me too, also I have go through with your link and keep updating in Forum of OCBC Tit cards. Think will try to apply next year.

Luckily, I have MBB2 cards which really good for me to spending on weekends, earn 5% cask back and rewards point but these benefits only for weekends spending, no weekdays, weekdays only for rewards point.

Therefore, end up OCBC Tit cc is my first choices that can be spend on weekdays for 5%/1% cask back. Second is Citibank Platinum cask back card but this card for requirement is RM48k per year.  sad.gif

I personally think that above cc mentioned (HLB) that is not suit for me as this is quite make trouble, I don't have HL bank saving account, if want to open a new accounts where will be charge money right? And some more need to spend minimum RM1k with it every month, if not; there will be get nothing oh
*
Thanks for checking out my articles.

I am not asking you to get the MACH by HLB, what I meant was check out the comparison table in the article where I have compared and show how much one can earn for the same expenses when using Maybankard 2 Cards AMEx versus OCBC Titnium MasterCard vs Citibank Platinum Cash Back vs UOB One Card.

Yah, OCBC TMC really good for essential expenses like petrol, dining, telco and utility biils. good luck in your application next year.

QUOTE(tzeling @ Nov 10 2012, 04:48 PM)
hi, can anyone pls tell me about the foreign exchange? I have an issue with HSBC exchange rate, I currently hold HSBC Visa Gold. I called the HSBC CS but the CS doesn't help much. I recently made an online transaction on 1st Nov in USD360.91 and being charged RM 1131.82 and later I asked for the full refund, USD360.91 is being credited into my CC but then the amount in MYR is RM1080.95. CS told me there is a 1% admin fee for the transaction made but there is NO admin fee being charged for the refund.

And I checked Visa Exchange rate (Visa Exchange ratehttp://corporate.visa.com/pd/consumer_services/consumer_ex_rates.jsp) the exchange rate on 1st Nov is as follow:

Currencies fluctuate every day. The rate shown is effective for transactions submitted to Visa on November 1, 2012, with a bank foreign transaction fee of 1%.

1 United States Dollar = 3.077470 Malaysian Ringgit

Then the exchange rate on 6th Nov is as follow:

Currencies fluctuate every day. The rate shown is effective for transactions submitted to Visa on November 6, 2012, with a bank foreign transaction fee of 0%.

1 United States Dollar = 3.067000 Malaysian Ringgit

CS kept telling me that they don't have the facilities to check on the exchange rate and the conversion is depending on Visa International. But the conversion amount doesn't tally with the amount being charged to my CC at all. On the 1st Nov, if follows the VISA exchange rate plus 1% admin fee, I shall be charged 3.07747XUSD360.91= RM1110.70 but I was being charged RM1131.82.

And then, for the refunded USD360.91, I supposed to get USD360.91X3.067=RM1106.91. Why is there such a big difference? HSBC CS couldn't do anything about me but ask me to check with the merchant if they credited me back the correct amount, but the problem is the converted amount, the refund in USD is definitely correct. CS only advise me to filed a dispute form for them to investigate which will take 60-90days but if they are right, they are going to charge me RM20. Someone please enlighten me and tell me what I can do!
*
Well, from my previous experience, I can tell you that HSBC credit card effective overseas conversion fee is definitely more than 1% (more than 2%). Click here to see example of overseas transactions using HSBC vs other credit cards. Please note that Alliance Visa overseas conversion rates are higher nowadays.

The rate shown at Visa International is just a guide and I guess not many here can really tell us here the actual rate a particular bank charge us for admin fee.

Pay another RM20 for the dispute to be process and may not get an extra sen back.... just take it as a lesson learned and use Maybank Visa or MasterCard for your overseas transactions.

Will you upgrade from HSBC VISA Platinum to Signature if your income meet the eligibility criteria?

What are the differences between these 2 cards?
Besides the increase of cost of annual fee and 5x reward point at certain merchant store. Any other benefit?

Worth to upgrade?
*
If you had read my article HSBC Premier World MasterCard & Visa Signature Credit Card Benefits 2012 where I gave the link in Post#1, you would have noted the followng:

The Visa Signnture 5X or 10X reward points are for selected transaction AND is not a standard card feature but a promotion. And it ends this 31 December 2012. This year it took HSBC 2 months to announced the 2012 reward programme, in order words, the HSBC VS and PWMC did not get to enjoy this privilege in January and Feb 2012.

Besides the 5X and 10X reward promotion, HSBC VS and PWMC card holders get to redeem 3000 reward points for 1000 Enrich Miles BUT it is not guaranteed since there is a quota and it starts from April 2012. And in my article I have shown that the Entry Level Maybankard 2 Card AMEX Gold Credit Card is better than HSBC Premier Cards when it comes to converting reward points to Enrich Miles!

So it is worth to upgrade? I guess you should see what are the new promotions in 2013 and also if you can benefit from HSBC current 50% dininig promotion at selected restaurants for selected items only.

My HSBC Visa Signature annual fee will be due soon, so I just called HSBC Toll Free and press 2 for BM so that I speak to a Malaysian smile.gif

I asked it I will get the auto annual fee waiver and the girl told me yes since I swipe more than 12 times... keeping my fingers cross and they don't impose me the annual fee when the actual anniversary date arrives. While on the phone told the girl to redeem my points to pay the RM50GST.

Beware of participating in any cashback promotions. Know their T&Cs inside out. You may or may not get the cashback even though you think your transactions should qualify for them. The problem is there is no independent external audit of these promotions.

That is why I love my Maybankard 2 AMEX and OCBC TMC - cash back guaranteed, subject to monthly quota of course.

But if you use the HSBC on the "first" day of the week running, the chance of getting the cash back is high.
