QUOTE(Gen-X @ Jun 26 2013, 10:40 AM)
Follow up to my earlier post.

Well, I got my latest statement and they charged me both the annual fee and GST  mad.gif

Call them up and explained to the person on the line that I called up last month and I was informed that my annual fee will be waived. She then gave me some excuse that they experiencing high call volume and someone will call me back between 3-6pm to attend to my complain. So, I said what rubbish, I want the annual fee waived immediately. I was then transferred to another person and she confirmed I did call last month on the annual fee waiver and requested that the GST be offset from my points. She said that my annual fee will be waived. So I said I will deduct RM650 from my Statement Balance and she advise me to pay the RM600 annual fee and later they credit back. Once again I said NO. I want it waived immediately and she said OK.

Anyway, the person on the line did say that next year annual fee will be waived with 12 swipes.... I am seriously considering cancelling my HSBC Premier Credit Card before my card anniversary next year if they continue to have this stupid policy of charging us the annual fee first and making us call them for the waiver. Why can't they just keep to their word that the annual fee will auto waived with 12 swipes  vmad.gif  vmad.gif  vmad.gif  vmad.gif  vmad.gif  vmad.gif

The only good thing about the HSBC Premier Visa Signature is that I get Toll FREE line, so there is no cost on my part to call them.

I have a similar issue as you Gen-X. My visa signature was charged RM600 for annual card fee - which was credited back on the spot when i made this request via phone. But according to this rep, the RM600 still needs to be settled in the next statement. I kind of doubt his 'story' because if RM600 was credited immediately, why would i still need to settle this amount in the next statement? Kind of defeats the purpose of an immediate credit.

This is the first time they have shown this annual card fee charge on the statement. In the past, the fee is automatically waived after 12 swipes.

the cc system is like that. once the statement balance is out amount RMxxx, you must pay it all to avoid penalty.

I just had similar experience with Citibank cc. You just have to pay that statement balance all. Your credit credited after the statement date, even though before payment due date just cannot be used to offset your total bill statement balance.

I was thinking to use my CB RM150 credited on 12.7.13 to pay my
statement dated 7.7.13. CS says no, i cant do that even though my statement payment due date is 27.7.13

After speaking to the rep, the system works like this. All statement balance must be paid in full even if you have any credit balance. Penalty applies automatically if statement balance is not paid in full. But, in the case of annual card fee, if you pay your statement balance minus the card fee, you can ask for penalty reversal.
