For such small device, 100W delivery is a doubt, I think logically it should be 50W instead, at 8ohm?

There's no issue with having extra watts for something that is not so demanding (i.e: bookshelf speakers, efficient speakers, etc). Just gives you more headroom to manage your speakers frequency response without clipping/distortion.

My current amp currently does 75W at 8ohms, and listening it as a near field listening from bookshelves (86db at 6 ohm impedance)

Edit: misread your question, the form factor does not exactly dictate how much power it can do. Some small ones can output of power provided the transformers can handle it.

They deliver 170w into 4 ohms. Size? They are class d with analogous power supply.

You have not seen my 130 watt per channel power amp, they are about the same size.

bro Problem is right

just for everyone's knowledge sharing

Watts does not represent how good the amp will push the speakers
neither does higher watts they sound better

it is merely an indicator of its power output....and alot of manufacturers tend to provide bad info

example of a good amp manufacturer...will provide a measure of the power from 20Hz to 20kHz......why???
that's because at different frequencies, the power output varies....
and the lowest and the highest frequency range requires the most power

good manufacturers provide the the average output from 20Hz to 20kHz....

example from Audio Research and Mcintosh:
200watts @ 8ohms minimum power 20Hz-20kHz this is a damn powerful amp for basic listening

the next factor is damping factor, which tells you how much the amp can grip the speakers....this is a subjective measurement but generally used by many

How would you categorize Marantz PM6005 if compare to NAD D3020 or NAD stereo integrated series? Warm? Neutral & transparent but with musical feel? And in terms of volume & power control, which amp would you recommend? notworthy.gif

marantz is not warm (a.k.a. midbass centric), more to voice, realistic and tame down aggresive speakers.
depends la, if u match with laid back speakers, it may sound a bit closer to warm tone

nad new model need to ask owner to give listening experience. but i see nad dont have treble bass tone control and speaker A + B function

marantz sounds more forward compared to NAD....NAD is slightly more layback
but again...this depends what sort of speakers and cables you pair with.....plus the source

if you ask me....i'd say marantz KI signatures anytime......i personally have compared CD6000 vs CD6000 OSE vs CD6000 KI Edition

CD6000 KI Edition wins hands down......and that has been a player i used for a very long time until i had the moo for an Audio Research

I've not heard the latest marantz.....whether have they improved or retained the same....

but if you don't mind used market......Marantz KI Editions are worth while....even the amps with KI edition......

the tonality, musicality and sound is really balanced, organic and neutral

i had that paired with Sonus Fabers Concertino Home.....boy it was awesome

So far, I see no complain about Marantz PM6005, also the tone controls are always welcomed as additional feature in case to pair with different speakers with different signature notworthy.gif

Actually initially I only intend to buy stereo amplifier, without CD/DAC support, but then it's a good bargain with SPDIF/Optical input from Marantz PM6005 thumbup.gif

X-ls encore
Dali Zensor 1
Wharferdale 10.1/122

Whats the local selling price for Dali and Whaferdale ? Opinions on which to choose is welcomed.

diamond 10.1 is not latest from wharfedale, but good in value (approx 900rm) for a 5" speaker. the shape is quite attractive and long depth with 2 ports behind.

xls encore is 6.5" give better bass if u have the space

They are no in the same league. Xls is meant to be audiophile speaker whereas the two are use mainly for HT.

Although it is not directly related, please read the following post and it pretty much answer most of your query,

In addition, you can't use price to judge XLS Encore. This is because we build and distributed the speaker and the price to you is almost direct factory price. rclxms.gif

Marantz paired with Dynaudio speakers. Add in a subwoofer and you"ll have a great setup. I know cos I set up the Marantz PM6005, Marantz CD6005, Dynaudio DM2/7 Speakers and BMB Subwoofer in my study and it can challenge the setup in my sitting room which comprises a Krell S550i, Krell S350a, Krell Phantom III and Sonus Faber Guarneri. No joke.

hmm, Dynaudio DM2/7 really good? What's the price? Where can I get it? Also recently I found a speaker brand from Dennmark called System Audio, heard a lot ppl said that it can sound filling the room even the size of bookshelf is small, but then the price is like XXXX sweat.gif , will Dynaudio sound sth like that? Filling and more airy, tight and controlled bass? Is this coloration to the sound? Surround sound speakers? I'm pretty confuse about them now rclxub.gif

Dynaudio makes decent speakers, hopefully with the new owners they still retain their signature sound. Dynaudio is carried by CMY in Malaysia, not sure about the price as you'll likely have to ask.

Most bookshelves can power up normal room conditions, its just whether your amplifier can push its limits without clipping at higher volumes.
