Can anyone recommend me a budget reciever/stereo amp? My old HK AVR 30 died recently, and I'm lookin to find a replacement for it. Needs to be able to drive 6 ohm speakers. Tried using an old Sugden stereo amp, it was unable to handle 6 ohm load after 6 months. Managed to repair the sugden tho.

anyone can recommend a good mini hifi CD player around RM500 and below?

you can dwell at those normal electric shop and find some old stock lying around.. mostly jvc, aiwa, sony .. they're pretty decent at prices as low as RM300

I am at US now, should i buy AVR here? it is much more cheaper compare with malaysia. Any pros and cons?

The power shud be different also there is the issue of being taxed when u come back.

Personal use also incurs taxes. It is 15% import duty and 10% sales tax.

Don't try to fool them as they are not as 'naive' as they used to be. Just be nice and normally they will let you know about your the 'duty' that need to be paid.

US avr needs to use a step down power converter if it is being used here. If not, you will fry it instantly when you plug it in.

for personal use, i think there is no duty charged.

I just got myself a NAD Amp and wharfedale bookshelf. I am going to complete it with a DAC and computer/cheapo dvd player.
Your budget is high enough to get many entry level system. Start visiting hifi shop and do the audition.
You will have to do your own research as only you will know what kind of music that you listening to.
