Franck Tchang is the guy who does all these acoustic resonators. Locally, his products are sold by CMY. He's quite a genius, that guy. You can find lots of reviews of his products on the internet.

sifus....my current setup only consist of a Acoustic Energy Aego M 2.1 speakers with a normal cd player where i'm planning to get myself an audiophile cd player...

hence, would it be a good idea to pair my aego m with a marantz cd player like the CD5003/5004 to get a better result or should i totally revamp my setup and get an AV Receiver, amplifier and loudspeakers...

the main use of my rig is solely for music as i only occasionally watch movies..

Any idea where all the hifi shop located like the Adelphi in Singapore? Prefer to have one spot to look for cables rather than going everywhere.

hi, i was always into head fi, was thinking to gain more knowledge and start to step in home hi fi system. could sifus here advise a decent setup at rm3-5k? and is it advisable to buy from USA? or just buy from singapore. is rm5k enough? well, i have no idea in hifi budget. just in to music, not into bluray movie, should provide more pleasure than high end IEM and more or about the same as high end cans.

My friend regularly buys things from singapore and bring it back to malaysia. Sometime the kastams just ignores him or lets him thru, so depend your luck. But there is a high chance you will be taxed. About 26%.

Are you looking for cd player + stereo amp + bookshelf speaker?

pretty all rounder but certainly not into heavy and bassy stuff. just ballads, classics, orchestras, jazz, r&b...pretty much everything that comes mild. i will surely go but then i need a guideline. rmxx-rmxx for cd player, rmxx-rmxx for wat and wat, then what price range offers what level of experience. smtg like, rm300-rm500 about 1 lvl, rm500-rm1000 1 lvl, rm1000-2500 1 lvl...

jamo s606 good pair with what amp for music/ movie? yamaha 663/onkyo 508?

Relatively easy to drive. Not very refined for music. Yamaha is slightly bright while Onkyo's signature is bass (some find it harsh).

I understand that audiophile must have a CD player. But in this computerage, we are more advance smile.gif. A dvd player + DAC which could accept digital input from pc /media player, might be more versatile and flexible. I had this combination and it is on par with entry level CD player , I think even better.
It just my 2 cent.

Please try to get a DAC, many china DAC is cheap and as good in SQ as entry level CD player.
If you really in music, find an stereo integrated and not a AV. Cheap stereo integrated amp could beat normal AV in SQ easily. But of course if you want to add on later make sure your integrated stereo got pre-out and sub out to add power amp and active subwooofer.

I am not expert in HT, but only seen philips and yamaha got that kind of setup.
Yamaha got quite good review, but the subwoofer cum receiver is not bassy at all.

But my advice is the virtual surround work good in room with wall to rebound the sound.
If you trying to put it in a bigger living room, sound not that good one.

Can put surround but not the soundbar.
Soundbar setup is the all in one speaker right (left /right/centre/virtual rear right/left) + subwoofer.
But I think yamaha got 20K soundbar , then is different story.

The traditional 5.1 (6 pieces set) to 7.1 HT (8 pieces set) will give you better effect.

For My Living hall, there is not back wall and I dislike to put the speaker on the floor. Because it is inconvenient when sweep floor.
doh.gif I think i just give up the surround sound ba.

ncleon, I think the surround sound option is going to be difficult for open hall space. Its better to spend all your resources in good stereo with good soundstage, it will give you the necessary spacial feeling when you watch movies with stereo.

You may be surprise to find that there are a group of movies enthusiast who does not believe in centre speaker, they believe that stereo separation for front ends are better. For you maybe you are going to be a victim of circumstances. Just my 2 cents.
