Depends on you. But i can advise you base on me and my friend noob experience. Floorstand really need to play loud then i feel the sound out. Loud i mean loud enough to cover the front of the room. You can play it soft but i feel some the bass hidden if you get what i mean.

Bookshelf i also just got it last few months for testing. And indeed you dont really need to blast it as loud. Then bookshelf can play quite loud too even tho Fs can go louder, i feel Bs already loud enuf. Just that it might lack some bass unless u go for better Bs. Otherwise u can get Bs and add sub to cover the low end. smile.gif

For me i normally use my amp at 25% vol, 30% if i want to blast, i cant stand 40-50%, too loud already lol.

Amp better you go audit what you like. Entry level try Marantz, NAD and cambridge Audio.

Your budget is how much boss?

Hi,

I am looking for good CD player and integrated amp for the cd player. My budget is around RM10,000.

My current setup is B&W 805 Nautilus, Onkyo 3007, Transparent cable, OPPO 83.

I am looking at NAIM, Rotel, Arcam and thinking to get in Singapore this weekend. ANy recommendation? Thanks

Hi, wanted to know whether a cpu equipped with Xonar Essence STX soundcard is enough to power up a pair of bookshelf speaker in the likes of Q-Acoustic, mission etc.

Did you have any luck in Singapore? Of the 3 brands you mentioned, I think the Naim has the best quality sound to match the 805 (which I used to have a pair before) but based on your budget, a new Naim Nait 5i is a bit low powered and the 805 do like a bit more juice. I don't think Rotel and Arcam is good enough to match the 805.

So what that leaves you is to look for a good used amp and CD player.. something that cost about RM10k new but now selling for about RM5k. I would suggest Naim 5XS.

Thanks for the info but it is a bit late since I only see your thread after I bought my CD player

I bought the Cyrus 8 XPd, Cyrus CD 8 XE and the PSX. Got some Chord Chorus 2 interconnect, 2 x Chord Power Chord and 3 x Ecosse Big Red high current, ended up spent RM30k on the system.

Enjoying right now!

I got it the whole package so not sure about individual prices for each system and cables. Is it important?

Thinking to upgrade my speaker cable to better one? Currently I am using Transparent HP14-4. Any better cable? Thanks

Nice choice with the Cyrus. Think they should go well with the 805. So you managed to escape paying duties at the causeway? I'm thinking of bringing back a pair of Mordaunt Short Performance 6LE speakers from Singapore as they are about RM9k cheaper there. Makes no sense...Singaporeans earn more but get to buy hifi cheaper. mad.gif

I was using the Transparent HP14-4 (biwired) and got lots of improvement by switching to QED Revelation (single wired with jumpers). If you're willing to spend more, then go for Franck Tchang's ASI Liveline. Recently acquired the ASI Liveline interconnect and boy, it's an absolutely awesome cable that can beat many more expensives cables.
