Hi....need some help here for any1 with similar hardware or just knowing whats going on tongue.gif

Went over to a friends house and tried oc-ing his rig. Specs as follows

Intel C2D E4400 L2 stepping @2Ghz with stock cooler
Gigabyte 965P DS3
2x1GB Kingston DDR2 667 value ram

Just decided to try a safe oc so left everything at default, let the bios decide on voltages, raised the fsb to 266(266x10=2.66ghz) and dropped the memory multiplier so that the ram runs at around DDR700. Everything loaded fine into windows and the bios set the core voltage at a rather high 1.4v sweat.gif Ran orthos blend test and it failed after 35 mins. Temps were quite high though reaching around 75C. Ok, went back to bios, and this time tried going for lower, this time 2.5ghz(FSB250). Reduced voltages also to 1.36v(1.32 after vdroop). This time orthos failed after 10 mins. Temps were still around 70C. So am wondering whats the prob. Is there anything wrong with my settings? Or proc is a total dud? Or the temps are too high? Any help will be apreciated smile.gif

Do with stock vcore first and do 266x8,see does it work tongue.gif Then 266x9,and up to 333x9,try it step by step and use as minimum vcore as possible

E2160 @ stock speed @ stock cooling - 40~45c

@ 3.0GHz @ stock cooling - 60~65c

depend on ur airflow and casing. this is my reading in closed casing. bare system may differ though notworthy.gif

There are plenty of reviews on the Internet and most of the time, Intel performs better on the same task if compared to AMD. I used to be an AMD fanboy but Intel is the way to go these days.

Hi All, I am currently running my E8400 + Gigabyte P35-DS3 at 3.6GHz (400*9). Vcore has been raised to 1.28V in BIOS (shown 1.248V in CPU-Z). The system run stably without any error with Max temperature at 65 deg C.

However when I tried to increase FSB to 420MHz, it started to show error in Orthos. Even after increasing VCore to 1.325V in BIOS, the same thing happen. It will halt after running Orthos for 10 min.

What's the possible culprit behind this? Is it because of the RAM? I tried to adjust the RAM Voltage by +0.1V in BIOS but to no avail.

BTW FSB:DRAM is at 1:1.

Any input is highly appreciated. Thanks.

The culprit is your Vmch... Add it by 0.1v.

Try not to go over 60, safer tat way, try for the best compromise between heat, and performance, vcore....I advise against it coz procs will fry prematurely if vcore touched.
