I got question regarding the GPS on Android smartphone:

i) without 3G, without interness access, with offline mode, can i use GPS function like a GPS device (Garmin/Papago) with pre-loaded map inside?

ii) Can I install Garmin or Papago on Android? With apps support offline map?
*
i) Depends on your GPS software. Those like Papago can. Google Maps can't.
ii) Papago X5 is for Android. Offline map supported. Go to www.malfreemaps.com for the monthly updated maps.

^technically the latest GMaps can preload maps for offline use. Just need to enable under Labs. Navigation as always is still unavailable here.

Probably wifi driver or chip problem. You can try restarting the driver instead of rebooting. Type *#*#526#*#* and see if it works. Regardless of whether it works or not, you should bring your phone to Samsung.

What is this 'profile' thing? Is it something available on HTC phones (work, home, etc)? I don't have it on my SE or Samsung either.

Isn't that an HTC phone? I believe Profiles is part of HTC Sense. It allows you to change your home screen based on selected profiles, right?

^it has cyanogenmod settings. I believe it's a themed CM rom.

Changing homescreen based on profile is Scenes, and is indeed a Sense feature. Profiles is to configure how certain apps perform notification based on what the user configures. Like in a meeting, silent, outdoors etc.
