any platinum credit card is more easy to apply
*
depends what you mean by easy. Lowest income requirement is Citibank Platinum Cash Back and UOB OncCard Platinum. Both these cards require only RM48K annual income and both are cash back card smile.gif

Click here to to my article on Minimum Income for CC where it list Platinum Credit Cards. But if you see my chart, these two cards not under Platinum Category but others because as far as I am concern it is not a "real" Plat card but more for marketing purposes.

That's not entirely true, the mass base are still classic and gold cards, with platinum in coming fast, especially in view of the current trends by some banks to phase out the classic cards  tongue.gif

In the future, more so for gen y and gen z people, there will only be gold, plat and above cards, with classic being close to extinction  rclxms.gif
*
Yah, the classic cards are now being phased out and entry level is Gold Card. In another 10 years, all existing Gold card cardholders will be upgraded to Plat and existing Plat all upgraded to Visa Infinite/World MasterCard. And all existing WMV/VI cardholders upgraded to Uranium Cards (where CL not less than RM100K because of inflation)- too hot to handle for most, hahaha

Anyway, click below to read my latest article titled The Best Credit Card in Malaysia - Is There Really One? But for seniors, no need waste your time reading it as you would already be having the best credit cards in your wallet tongue.gif

no lah, tell his staff to pay for the makan since he got higher standing card tongue.gif

I know a few retired millionaire who only uses Gold Card and actually prefer paying with Cash. If you pay with Cash, then it shows you got $$$ else we living off credit.

Any reason why you didn't list SCB Business Visa Platinum ?
I think the SCB Business Visa Platinum beats Alliance Visa/Mastercard Platinum if you spend RM0.01 to RM2550 and >RM5000
*
cards that don't give auto waiver for annual fees is automatically disqualified, hahaha. I wouldn't want to promote/recommend a card to someone and he/she might end up having to pay annual fees.

Mom have been juggling with credit card debts for the past 2 years. Last week sat with her to go through all statements and situation. Almost pengsan see the figures. rclxub.gif

Decision was to refinance house under my name and get the cash to clear these debts.

Question is: what's the best way to negotiate for final settlement amount? I heard before some banks can give up to 50% discount on the final settlement.
I think they'll be quite happy to recover amount from my mom, coz her case really hangus  sweat.gif

Much of the amount is due to late charges and compounded interest over the 2 years.

Advice needed.  icon_question.gif

Thanks.

Refinance the house under your name? What makes you think after that she won't accumulate debts again?

Yes, go talk to the banks and see what can be done. Also go read 1st post of CC Thread V15 items 17 & 18, link below:

http://forum.lowyat.net/topic/1767872

Worst come to worst, if she is not working nor running a business, just declare bankrupt. And if really refinance under your name, better you buy the property up from her at a discount since her debt have been "transferred" to you .

Sifus & Seniors,

I have a question. I cancelled my Petronas Visa Maybank (with balance of rm900 lets say). I called CS yesterday wanting to know what happened to the balance since I requested to transfer all balance+treatpoints to my Maybank2Cards (Amex & Visa). She said TP has been transfered but the balance cannot transfer. Then I asked will there be interest/finance charge to the outstanding amount (rm900 earlier). She said no and the balance should remain the same until I settle them.

However, when i check statement from M2u, there was finance charge RM2.53. Is this the interest? Is it true that there will still be interest for following month? (if yes, then the CS is wrong) Because if it is, I have to quickly settle the balance.

Thank you.................
*
I think you might have been confused...
Yes balance will not be imposed interest if you settle in full before due date. But in your case, most probably you thought it will be interest free for forever, where got such thing. Go pay the amount in full plus interest so that the account can really be closed. The longer it takes you to settle the outstanding amount, the more interest will be imposed. Always pay all outstanding balance due before the Due Date.

damn funny these ppl. tongue.gif
1st time i heard need to call landline for verification, other banks like tht also?
*
OCBC called my office to confirm I was working there. For some of the cards I applied through agents long ago, the banks will call my mobile to confirm that I did indeed apply for the card.

dattebayo, also note that if you have outstanding balances, new transactions may also be imposed interest prior to Due Date.

Guys, can any of you confirm what is the current administrative fee/handling charge imposed by Maybank for transactions made in foreign currency ? In my credit card statement, it is stated that "Foreign charges converted by American Express apply a conversion factor of 2.5% to the converted amount plus 0.5% administration cost imposed by Maybank. A charge that is made in a foreign currency other than U.S. Dollars will first be converted into U.S. Dollars before being converted into Ringgit Malaysia when the conversion is done by American Express".

So i guess it is 3% for AMEX (both with and without the Maybankard logo) and 0.5% for Maybankard VISA/MasterCard now ?

based on zenquix post previously where he did transaction on 5th March and comparing them to BNM rate, MBB 2 Visa and MBB 2 Amex rate was 1.2% and 2.65% higher than BNM's rate respectively. Click below link to my blog somewhere in the middle.

Got 3rd agent offering service for HSBC credit cards. I must go start a thread on HSBC CC before more comes in.

Just posted my article on Fraudulent charges with credit card at my blog.

The Star today headlines is about BNM smsing card issuer. What a bull, the card issuer is suppose to sms and not BNM. Anyway it got me thinking, if we don't call the bank immediately after we receive the sms, would that mean that we will be liable for the unauthorized transaction? Should there be a time frame for us to call back? What if your handphone no credit or no battery doh.gif

Anyway, click below to read my article -

Has anyone applied the Hong Leong bank Fortune cc? is is as good as Hong Leong Bank Platinum in terms of crdit limit and also classification in superiority?

Thanks.

HLB Fortune Credit card, well, it is a card like no other card and if you spend less than RM1K, you won't get anything. Do a search and you'll get the answer to your question.

I just posted my latest article at my blog on CIMB Direct Access promotions and was pleasantly surprise that we get 10% discount at Alexis smile.gif Free movie tickets at GSC extended to Platinum cards too. Other offers 15% discount at Tai Thong group including Room 18 and San Francisco Steakhouse. 5% offer at Kinokuniya ends this month and you get 1 for 1 free latte at San Francisco Coffee.

Click here to read Promotions with CIMB Bank and Direct Access credit cards.

As for the free gift offer at KLCC, swipe with 2 cards to get maximum benefit. Example, if your transaction cost is RM15,000, swipe RM10,000 with CIMB if you want the Mendoza luggage bag and balance RM5,000 with Maybankard 2 Amex smile.gif

Also I just applied for Citibank Platinum last week and got my wife to apply for the Premier Miles today to get 2 Priority Passes. Citibank absorbing the first year GST. Since it is truly free for 1 year, that's why getting the cards and making my collection complete, well not really still missing PBB and SCB card.

But do note the caveat: It appears from the PDF brochures that some of the promotions such as Buy 1 Latte for 1 Latte (any size) (San Francisco Coffee) (see: "CIMB Bank Weekend 1 for 1") as well as the Kinokuniya 5% Rebate (on Fri, Sat & Sun for books only) only apply on weekends.

@Gen-X Maybe better to also highlight the Visa or MasterCard specific promotions in your blog (eg Visa Premier cards for GSC promo which you pointed out and MasterCard for Sunday rebates at Guardian etc).
*
yah, you are right, must go amend that post. Got a disclaimer at the end tho where I mentioned offers subject to T&C.

**Edited**
Just added KFC pay with points where you pointed out earlier we can do so. This is great as CIMB we can no longer redeem for cash vouchers.

Thanks for your valuable comments guys.
