Hi I have a question. I'm using a 3GS running iOS 4.0.2 since apple no longer sign 4.3.3 so no point to upgrade. I will jailbreak using red snow. Do I need to download the latest red snow file or "Redsn0w 0.9.5b5-5" that provide from the page?

Noobie123, don't quote the piracy post (edit your post and delete the quote) so that you also don't get into trouble. I'll try and answer your questions soon.

Since you are running 4.0.2 on a 3Gs just run limera1n.

Follow the guide here

Good Luck!

oh man. my iphone got stuck when it asked me to restart springboard when i dl and installed insomnia. it has been showing the spiralling loading icon for an hour already. what should i do?

Added on July 22, 2011, 1:41 pmnvm i figured out the method to force shut down the phone, pressing power and home button together and hold them till it shuts off.

I'm experiencing the same problem too but even after hard resetting, it's still spiralling. Is there anyway to settle this apart from restoring and rejailbreaking it again?

EDIT: I'm running on 4.3.3 and trying to restore back to 4.3.3 despite 4.3.4 being available. Can I NOT update to 4.3.4?

Wait, are you trying to restore to 4.3.3 or update to 4.3.4?

You can't simply restore to 4.3.3 as Apple no longer signs that firmware. You need to have your 4.3.3 SHSH ready and to either use tinyumbrella or point your host file to cydia for it to work.

erm i dont really understand

from what i understand you want 2 apps, one app is hopefully to 'fix' your silent toggle, and one is and app to create profile for ringtone. am i correct?

if you have activator app, you can always turn silent toggle on/off using simple touch gesture or using other button entirely

if you want to assign different ringtone for different people, you can easily do that in the default contacts app
*
Basically the physically silent switch above the volume buttons are faulty. I need an app-based way to get in and out of silent mode. Can't seem to find that option at Activator, only toggling Vibrate on/off.

Limera1n is one of the easiest JB too. Just tap "jailbreaK" and follow instruction into DFU.
In this case, you have other options; redsn0w & snowbreeze is good to go as well.

Connect it to TU and see if you can kick the device out of recovery "exit recovery" button. Once that is done, the iPhone should be able to get out of the loop and you should be able to check if you have saved the SHSH via TU as well.

The easiest and simplest way to jailbreak your iPhone running on 4.3.1 is to visit www.jailbreakme.com via your iPhone's Mobile Safari. IInstall Cydia via that page and you should be good to go.

Note: Don't forget after installing Cydia and Jailbreaking to go back into Cydia and install PDF Patcher 2 by comex (do a search in Cydia). This will re-secure your iPhone against the PDF Exploit.

does it mean that, once i installed cydia, means my iphone already jail break?

after jail break, go back in to cydia apps to look for an apps called PDF patcher 2 by comex? and install it. after install anything that i need to do?

oh ya do i need to do any backup on my itunes? i bought this phone last night, and i just installed itunes on my laptop, and sync for contact to my iphone. then created an Apple ID. thats all.

Sorry for asking so much ya.

Yes, once Cydia is installed, it means your iPhone is jailbroken.

You do not need to make any changes to iTunes

No, once PDF Patcher 2 is installed, you do not need to do anything. It will not even show up in the iPhone.

You do not need to do any backup in iTunes BUT I do recommend that before you do the jailbreak, just backup your iPhone just in case. It doesn't hurt and since it's new, it won't take too long.

Connect your iPhone to your computer and opened iTunes. Once your iPhone appears in iTunes, right hand click and choose backup. It will tell you once it's done and you're good to go.
