Jailbroke my iPhone 4 last night .... got my Homesharing now wohoooo .... process was simple enough (but then again, I've been jailbreaking since 3.1.2 heh heh heh)

Cydia was bit unstable last night ... Big Boss was not loading, sometimes get error for the MMi repo .... other than that, everything was peachy. MobileSubstrate crashed as well (the iPhone 4 is damn stable though, this is like my 1st crash since I got the phone 2 months ago)

Got my SBSetting which I cannot live without ... now waiting for the iPad2 JB, hope they release the comex exploit for 4.3 at least.

I hate Outlook syncing of contacts as some of my contacts has multiple phone numbers and outlook cannot handle all the fields.

iTunes will backup all your settings (wifi password) and contacts. Once these things are restored, you can then re-syncs all your apps that you have bought from iTunes.

I'm not sure what steps I missed last night but all my folder setup went haywire and all the apps were outside their folders so I had to go and set it up again whic is a pain. All my contacts were restored properly.

I do find that sometimes a couple of reboots will do the phone a lot of good.

If it's an iTunes app I think the settings are saved once you restore your backup and also re-syncs the app. I have SPB Wallet and all the data in there will be restored once I restore my backup and the apps is re-sync to my iPhone. Same thing with my PocketMoney.

Great review samlee! I didn't know you can lock the SMS by using a code ... I'm using Locktopus to lock all my apps (Mail especially) but since biteSMS has it's own lock key, this is great.

Hahahahahahahah .... well good thing you re-read it coz now I also apply the code. My friend always want to see my iPhone one, so having this code thing at least protect my privacy lorr .... of course my wife immediately becomes suspicious .. so I told her the code and tell her if she want to look at it go ahead la .... (being a macho man that I am), of course she doesn't la .... heh heh heh .... trick of the trade meeehhh.

Added on April 5, 2011, 8:35 pmI think all this MC/MB was for the 3Gs on the old exploit. I would have think the dev team would have given notice about the MC or MB issue. They haven't so I don't think it would make any difference.

He's screwed. The last baseband that ultrasnow can unlock is 5.13, higher than that, he's screwed.

It's been more than 6 months since the last unlock was found.

Not sure, I think it's only for iPhone 4 but someone who has a 3Gs can confirm.

Hmm I noticed the RAM reduction as well but I don't think it's because of the JB. I think it's all the new features that 4.3.1 has so even if you don't JB, I still think that the RAM would have decreased.

Cannot even buy Celeste. It keeps saying that dependencies needed has not been updated. Will need to wait. Want to easily send the photos taken with my N8 o my iPhone.

Hmmm I think I am noticing that the 4.3.1 eats more battery than 4.2.1. I usually leave my iPhone connected to the wifi the whole night (sleeps by reading the news and wakes up and checking my share prices lorr) and it usually eats up 1-2% of battery life for the whole 7 hour duration but since I upgraded to 4.3.1, looks like it's wayyyy faster drain ... almost 2% an hour.

Wonder what's up with that. Dunno if I want to test going on stock firmware and checking the battery drain so that I can discount the jailbreak as the reason .... going without jailbreak is like having sex with condoms ..... takde feeeeeelllllll

As for step by step guide,

Go to iClarified.com and you get all sorts of tutorial. Very precise, very detailed.

As for restoring all you data. Just make sure you backup everything to iTunes before you do the jailbreak. Once the jailbreak is done, just restore the backup and sync all your apps again and all your contacts, saved data will be there.

I used PwnageTool for my 4.3.1 upgrade from a GreenPoison Jailbreak for my 4.2.1, no issue whatsoever ... I know that if you are using RedSn0w, then you will need a fresh stock upgrade to 4.3.1 and then Redsn0w will do the exploit injection to jailbreak. So two types of method and both are okay. Just depends on your preference.

Yes, you should be able to saved the latest SHSH even if you're not on the latest firmware using TinyUmbrella. Make sure though that you download the latest version of TU. I think the older version of TU does not work with 4.3 and above ....

A stock restore to 4.3.1 can be done if it was done a couple of days after 4.3.2 is released, after the 2 days grace period (if you are lucky) then it will not be possible to restore to 4.3.1 UNLESS you have saved your SHSHs via TinyUmbrella. After the grace period of a couple of days (or less), then Apple will stop signing the 4.3.1 firmware (which I assumed Apple has done just that) and any effort to try and restore to 4.3.1 will be met with a 3194 error (if you are using a Windows PC) or an "Ineligible Firmware Build" error (if you are using a Mac)

The only way to restore to 4.3.1 (or anything lower) will be via the TSS Server or Cydia Method. This method requires you to have SAVED the 4.3.1. SHSHs blobs during the period where Apple was still signing it (i.e. before Apple update 4.3.1 to 4.3.2)

I can elaborate on the TSS server/Cydia method further if anyone requests it but lesson learned is that

1. ALWAYS backup your SHSHs blobs .... YOU DO NOT NEED TO JAILBREAK your iPhone to backup the SHSHs. You just need TinyUmbrella (Google for it) and you can save the SHSHs blobs either to Cydia or to your local machine (I prefer this method).

The redmondpie guide is for tethered which a damn hassle. Wait a couple of weeks. i0nic has confirmed that his exploit still works for 4.3.2, he just need to update the exploit's binaries so that it'll be easy to compile into Redsn0w and what not.

That means Apple is still signing 4.3.1 as of yesterday.

I saved 4.2.1 & 4.3.1. Usually Cydia will automatically save Higher SHSH once you have jailbroken your iPhone but I do not see 4.3 or 4.3.1 in Cydia. I only see 4.2.1 and all the beta 4.3s, the 4.3.1 I saved locally.

I suspect as well since 4.3.2 has been out for the last 5 days or so. Save 4.3.2 SHSHs as well with TinyUmbrella since i0n1c exploit still works (just need to wait for him to compile everything properly). I always make it a habit to backup my SHSH ...

You will need to have the SHSH. Where dows iSHSHit put the SHSH? Find the SHSH and use TU. Run the TSS server and you should be able to get 4.3.1 restored on your iPhone.

I'm thinking of getting 4.2.1 back into my iPhone 4 .... just don't want to go through all the hassle of syncing my apps and all my Cydia apps as well. Then I can try Celeste.

Yeah, too late for saving 4.3.1 now .... I was also lucky, decided to get my SHSH for 4.3.1 with TU ... and esok Apple came out with 4.3.2 (I also got that SHSH saved though coz once i0n1c comes up with the new untethered JB, then it'll be good to have the option to go to 4.3.2)

I personally think that 4.2.1 is very very stable (I did not have a crash at all, have had 3-4 crashes already with 4.3.1), then again, crashes occur if you JB your iPhone.

Dang, need to wait for my iPhone 4 ....
