hi guys, need help with restoring my jb ip4.

currently using iOS 4.1(8B117). im planning to do a warranty claim. is it possible to just do a backup and restore using itunes? any extra steps that i need to take?

no need restore. just back up and update ur firmware to ios4.3.3 then take it back to digi
it's impossible to restore back to 4.1 if u dint save ur shsh

I don't think iTunes will backup your contact only, it will backup all your settings as well. The Apps will not be backed up by the way, the apps can be re-synced via iTunes (you need to sync the apps first though).

The first time you upgrade your iPhone, it will be empt (no contact etc), once you restored your backups, all your contacts will be restored together with all the netwrok settings, carrier settings, wifi passwords etc etc ... game saves or any app database (pocketmoney, Safewallet etc etc) but the apps are not restored. Once the apps is re-synced the associated app database will be properly assigned.

guys i haf doubts.. my phone specs is : 3gs, firmware 4.1 jbed

tot of upgrade to 4.3.3 cz some of the apps need newer ios. it's advisable to upgrade to newer ios? would it be compatible? i afraid might not be able to support it n will cause battery consumption..

3gs still can support 4.3.3 lah. moderate..

Correct my friend. Some dopeys just don't bother to read the RULES. I would extend this suspension to 2 weeks of no JB discussion if this get's totally out of hand.

Also, at garagesale forum, there were forumers selling iPhone, iPods & iPads that includes piracy and they all gotten a good solid suspension and some even received 30 days acc suspension.

Guys, do help me to report users who are selling iPhones, iPods, iPads with piracy. Let's nail them hard.


Correct. There's no more firmware upodates/support for 3G right after 4.2.1 released.

IOS 4.2.1 is the final firmware for 3G iPhones.

i would suggest LYN can step to let forumer read the rules before they come in.
for example, retype the rules and regulation before entering this section.

hey guys, i just recently jb my iphone 3gs ios 4.3.3 through jailbreakme.com and wow, i can't imagine the process of jb-ing has become so easy just like downloading an app from app store.

the question i had in mind is where do you guys backup the jb stuffs? whenever i update the ios, the iphone will have clean ios until you jb it again, right? correct me if i'm wrong.

There's a tweak called Pkgbkup, it's a bit pricey and I've read that it sometimes does not work so you'd be spending 8 bucks on something that sometimes will work and sometimes won't.

I have aptbakup which is free. What it does is saved a list of the tweaks you have so you'll be able to download the tweaks after the restore/jb process.

guys, is there an app/tweak to solve this?

whenever i'm on phone calls, if got SMS or other alerts the phone will vibrate and got msg sound. is there a way to change the alert or notification?

Might want to try MobileNotifier (can't remember the repo for it) but supposedly it improves the notification system of the iOS.

Guys, to clarify something:

My 3GS is running 3.0 right now (has not update it for a while...), so the best way is to update the FW to the latest version via iTunes (ver 10.3.x now??) then use jailbreakme.com to JB it, right?
