Tomato and vinegar do work probably due to their low PH characteristic but some said cola works as well, does cola low in PH too?
I was asking bout full coverage waterblock and mobo waterblock, unlike most c.p.u. waterblocks, most of em cannot be totally dismantled . Does the said method work?

no dudes low pH = acidic = sour high pH = alkaline = bitter coke is bitter+sweet hehe.. it contains Sodium Bicarbonate which is mildly alkaline to clean up high end parts in my research lab we use toothpaste. harmless. cleaning has nothing to do with pH, we just need a good surfactant = foam to remove the dirt from surface oxidation (corrosion) wont be that fast lah, days

I thought u need some form of solvent to dissolve certain residue and then with the help of surfactant to remove the dissolved residue? wouldn't such material that contains both mentioned properties be ideal in this context? but from what u replied above, sounded like only soap will do?

Dettol soap can act as anti-microbial too Really hv no idea vat makes these ketchup and vinegar a very good surfactant I tot it's the acidic property tht makes these a gd waterblock surface cleaner. This post has been edited by J1@l_ l_l l\l: Jun 28 2010, 08:42 AM

Depends on type of soap, automobile washing soap is ok. glassware soap for glassware, fabric for clothes, etc

It started with ketchup, then, vinegar, coke, lime and even the toothpaste has become part of the usefull waterblock cleaning solutions. It seems like all of those mentioned above r considered abrasive don't they? Ppls say prevention is always better than cure, so how can U prevent corossion, algae, and this gunk formation at the same time? Even the well known Feser 1 coolant is prone to gunk formation, maybe the clear 1 doesn't .

u cant prevent them i think but u can slow them down . perhaps anti microbial would be good ? but for me, i still use distilled water . dont see much point using them anti microbial whatsoever . might lower down the flow rate and possible gunk perhaps ?
