This is what i knows Undermount Pro:Nice design and water wont sip underneath the sink. Will go direct to your sink Cons:You need to break the mosaic/top to replace the sink in future Top Mount Pro:Wont look so nice as the sink edges can be seen and water may sip through the sink edges if poor workmanship Cons:Easy to replace the sink in future as no need to break the top ZeneticX liked this post

QUOTE(ZeneticX @ Apr 1 2023, 03:52 PM) Any reason for that? Pros and cons? You can wipe water/dirt directly into sink. With top mount there's a lip where water/dirt will always get stuck. 5 years later, the epoxy seal will also wear off and trap dirt/look ugly.I know undermount looks nicer, but practicality wise what makes it better than top mount? |

Hi all,
If I predrill opening /hole on the concrete table top to put - water tap - filter tap - POU water filter white hoses (2 hoses) passing thru. because the sink is those small edge and can't drill hole. Is this ok and convenient for future maintenance? What is the opening holes size recommended? Thanks |

Is this ok and convenient for future maintenance? What is the opening holes size recommended? Thanks Drill a 35mm diameter hole in the middle, and one 35mm at the side for filtered water Some filtered water tap is smaller diameter from 15mm to 25mm, some design has a wider bottom sitting plate that can cater for 35mm hole You can refer to this design ![]() So you need to see the filtered water tap design For example, this type of tap can use for 35mm hole ![]() |

Thanks ![]() make sure ur contractor open a bigger hole on concreate if not the tap wont b long enough then. As per photo, the tap is mounted on the tiles not concrete, example, cold tap tiles make 25mm diameter but on concrete make 70 - 80mm, as long as ur hand or tools can fit into the hole to tighten the nut. On Tiles, Standard size Cold Tap = 25mm Mixer tap or pull out tap = 35mm Filter tap in general 12-15mm but some brand 25mm also got, so buy first before drill ahsui liked this post

Hi,
Since topic on sinks and countertops. Is it common now or good to have plywood base that the countertop (granite, quartz etc) to sit on top? Or a concrete base is still a must have? Plywood sturdy enough? |

Must use spacer or washer to overcome this issue? |

I'm using Ikea Metod kitchen and my quartz countertop sits directly on top of the base cabinet.I believe they use thick plywood and are reinforced with steel bracing (?) on the top. It's been a year and so far so good.Since topic on sinks and countertops. Is it common now or good to have plywood base that the countertop (granite, quartz etc) to sit on top? Many sellers claim that NANO sinks are better especially HONEYCOMB type. They claim, stain resistant, wont scratch, wont rust and etc etc, so i bought one unit online, here is the honest review for it This post has been edited by zheilwane: Nov 7 2023, 09:56 AM |

QUOTE(Mattrock @ Nov 7 2023, 09:29 AM) Anyone finding sinks which have sharp and more angular corners harder to clean and water drainage is poorer compared to the more rounded corner designs? See photos below. I have a sink with angular corners, and two of these corners have developed rust (due to difficulty to clean). It's an undermount sink, so future replacement will be challenging. Is there any way to prevent the rust from worsening?![]() ![]() |

I think rust is due to poor welding QC. i.e., metallurgical issues. The angular sinks are not pressed like the rounded ones, but welded along the edges. |
