Cash
- over the counter
- via your credit card issuer's cash deposit machine

Cheque
- **over the counter
- via your credit card issuer's cheque deposit machine
- ##mail your cheque to the bank

**Some banks such as Public Bank no longer accept cheque over the counter
##You have to pay for the stamp yourself

^/``MEPS Interbank Funds Transfers (Online)
You must have an online banking account linked to either your savings or current account. Please refer to the thread here for the applicable charges.

^You are allowed to transfer only RM5,000/day* from your account through MEPS Interbank Funds Transfers executed online. However, you can increase this limit from the defaulted RM5,000/day to RM40,000 if you bank with HSBC and HSBC is the only bank that offers such high limit in Malaysia..

*The daily maximum IBG limit for both AmBank and UOB Bank is RM10,000.

***/``MEPS Interbank Funds Transfers (ATM)
ATM MEPS Interbank Funds Transfers offers a very limited choice of banks which you can transfer your money to. Please refer to your bank for the detailed list of banks available for Interbank Funds Transfers via ATM.

***Besides the limited choice of banks available which you can transfer your money to via ATM MEPS Interbank Funds Transfers, many banks do not even offer MEPS Interbank Funds Transfers service via their ATM. HSBC for one, doesn't offer this service via their ATM.

MEPS Interbank Funds Transfers (Over the Counter)
There is no limit on how much your can transfer your money out through MEPS Interbank Funds Transfers over the counter. However, your bank may impose a maximum limit per transaction. Standard Chartered for instance, imposes a maximum limit of RM9,999/transfer at only RM0.50/transfer. Let say you want to transfer RM12,000 to Maybank, you will have to do it twice. Basically it means you have to pay RM1. Please refer to your bank on the terms and conditions for MEPS Interbank Funds Transfers initiated over the counter.

``MEPS Interbank Funds Transfers (Phone Banking)
Not all banks offer MEPS Interbank Funds Transfer via Phone Banking. As far as i know, Standard Chartered is the only bank offering such service for the time being. Therefore, please refer to your bank if they offer Interbank GIRO service via Phone Banking.

``Do take note that your account comes with a daily cap of RM5,000/day for MEPS Interbank Funds Transfers initiated online, via ATM or Phone Banking. However, you can increase this limit from the defaulted RM5,000/day to RM40,000 if you bank with HSBC and HSBC is the only bank that offers such high limit in Malaysia.

Thank you MileAndMore notworthy.gif

I a bit old fashion, pay by cheque for all my credit card bills by dropping into cheque deposit box or cheque deposit machine.

Associated costs via payment method:

Cash at CDM - no cost except for time and petrol to bank.
Cheque drop - cost of cheque itself (tax) and time & petrol to bank.
By post - cost of cheque, stamp and time & petrol to post office.

Question: which bank and what type of account is best (minimal or no cost) to use for

1) MEPS online;
2) MEPS ATM.

Sorry if noob question, never transferred fund online or via ATM before. For my case, can I use my RHB Premier Debit Card at ATM to transfer fund to my CC accounts with MEPS and will there be any cost? Below taken from RHB website.

Free transactions at RHB and all other local bank ATMs that carries the MEPS logo

From your Interbank Funds Transfer thread, only HSBC Premier & Advance and OCBC IQ Elite have no fees associated with online payments for CC bills right?

To All: is there any other ways to make payment online for CC bills? e.g. using another online CC account to make payment fo another CC account from a different issuer.

Most of the basic savings account (from any banks) will give first 2 IBG at RM0.50 per month
as for the question, afaik - cannot, else I would have been doing that for a long time laugh.gif

i still prefer the 'old school' way.

for my amex, since i have maybank2u & salary also bank-in into maybank, just pay online. - the most convenient & no extra charge

for public bank, since i have hire purchase with them as well, every month go to cash deposit machine. - incur a bit petrol, but i normally go at night, less crowd & near my home

for ocbc, also go to CDM since on the way back from work got pass by ocbc bank. - can be considered no additional charges

have been contemplating to use IBG using maybank2u, but if 3 payments every month; that's already rm6 each month.

got cheque book from maybank & eon, but been collecting dust at home. laugh.gif

does it applies to maybank? so if u use maybank2u to pay 3 cc, that means only rm3 charge? unsure.gif

YES, but u'll need to open the basic savings account or BSA-i first
then it RM0.50 x 2 + RM2

alternatively, u can open TWO BSA biggrin.gif

HSBC Premier account definitely smile.gif The best part is that you can increase you daily IBG limit from RM5k to RM40k. Just transfer the money out before 11.30am on a business day and the money will be credited to your credit card on the next day.

I believe you can, since it mentions free transactions which may suggests that it is not limited to free cash withdrawals only.

By the way, IBG done through ATM will be charged RM1 regardless of account type.

Well, it says free transactions at all RHB and all other local banks. So i guess it is going to be free too. May be you can try it tonight ? May be at a AmBank ATM using your RHB Bank Premier Banking VISA debit card ?

By the way, interbank funds transfers done through ATM effect immediately. Basically, it means you will get the money right away.

Bro, I so blur lah. But you are right, must go try it out myself. The only thing is my Premier Debit Card account not linked to my RHB online for kiasu reason, so I won't know if they charge me any fees or not until middle of next month. So hope you can bear with me, question in order to enjoy free transaction at ATM with my RHB Debit Card to pay my other credit cards' account:

1) Can I go to a RHB ATM and make payment to my MBB CC account?
2) Or must I go to MBB ATM and use my RHB Debit card to make payment to the MBB Account?

If my memory serves me correctly, you can check your transaction history through RHB Bank ATM. It's been a while since i last had a RHB Bank savings account but i'm pretty sure their ATM do have such feature. I think you can even print it out at no extra cost (unlike bloody CIMB Bank which is charging us RM0.50).

It will work both ways. You can even use your RHB Bank ATM Card to transfer money to a Maybank account via another bank's ATM such as AmBank ATM. AmBank was promoting this heavily last year which is why i suggest you to try at AmBank ATM biggrin.gif

By the way, i just found out from my own AmBank online banking portal that the daily IBG limit for AmBank savings/current account holders is RM10,000 and not RM5,000.

Oh yeah, this will do too. I mean to check your balance before and after. What i suggested earlier is to print out your account transaction history through RHB Bank ATM after you've performed the IBG through another bank's ATM. It should list out your last 6 - 8 transactions in your account.

Hi Miles, appreciate your effort as usual, thanks!

Just to add to the collection of information, maximum daily transaction amount in respect of normal (cf premier) personal (cf commercial) accounts for both UOB and AmBank is RM10,000.00. Do consider including the above links.

Just some tips on Cash Deposit Machine:

When you insert cash in the machine and it keep rejecting the notes that you replaces ( normaly happen to new notes ) mad.gif please dont keep inserting the cash because these CDM machines have timing, if a transaction cant be fulfiled within certain amount of times, by defaults it will force accept your cash and the cash you failed to bank in will go the rejected notes bin.

The next thing you see is that the CDM will come out this message " OUT OF SERVICE ". The person queing behind you will start cursing you. Why i say this is that customer have complaint why the CDM do this and that, scolding us with all the #&^&*# and when we go and check the journal report we can see this customer was trying to insert the notes for more than 5 times which the machines unable to recognise it and it will kick start this step by force the cash into the reject bin.

However different banks setup their machines differently it depends on how sensitive they set it. From what i experience HSBC & MBB had it.

For card issuers which I maintain SACA with, I use its SACA to settle.
For card issuers which I don't maintain SACA with, I choose IBG via Basic Savings Account, or cheque deposit (if I happen to pass by its branch).

overdraft is using more than the $$ u deposited inside the current account (eg. u have RM500 in ur current, u need to pay ppl RM800, u can get OD from the bank of RM300 and repay back with interest charges), it need to apply if not mistaken tongue.gif (p/s other sifu correct me if wrong coz i never use OD just know got this feature tongue.gif)

added one more thing normally current account has no interest but saving does. however there are some special current account offer interest too eg. Alliance Bank Hybrid Account (a current account with interest paid on ur balance monthly)

I'm using DirectAccess Premier Plus Current Account which I don't have to maintain minimum balance.
P/s:DirectAccess is a division of CIMB. Premier Plus Account is strictly for DirectAccess cardmembers only.

Sorry I have to ask this really noob question. How much is the stamp charge to put on the envelop if want to pay the CC with a cheque and posting to them?

What's the cheapest way to pay these credit cards? I have a Savings/Current account at the same bank that issues all these 3 credit cards. My salary is bank-in to CIMB. My working area has CIMB and Maybank branches.

CIMB: ATM withdrawal, and pay cash
Maybank: ATM withdrawal from CIMB, pay cash at MBB
Standard Chartered: Write a cheque from CIMB and post to StanChart. There's a post office within walking distance from my office.

Another question. If I choose to receive cc statements electronically, then these banks will not send the statements to me. That means if I want to pay cheque, I will have to use my own envelop?

Open a Basic Savings Account then you are entitled to TWO Interbank Transfer with service charge RM0.50 per trxn. Quite useful actually.
Many people are not aware of this product, keep on feeding banks with RM8 ATM fee.

When ppl ask me what account to open, I will advise them to open BSA. (provided he doesn't withdraw money more than 8 times a month)

Kindly refer to this thread > Interbank Funds Transfer (IBG)

Not entirely true. It depends on what time and which day you made the transfer out. If you transfer the money out before the bank's cut-off time (varies by banks ... it's either 11am, 11.30am or 12pm on a banking day), the money will be transferred out on the same day and depends on which bank is the receiver bank, the money may be made available by evening on the same day**. CIMB Bank usually will credit the money into your account on the same day by 4pm while AmBank after 6pm.

**this is different from the instant interbank funds transfer offered by CIMB Bank, EON Bank and Hong Leong Bank

QUOTE(beyond86 @ Apr 30 2011, 12:58 PM)
but MBB basic saving no have RM8 fees
Maybank Basic Savings Account comes with the option to pay RM8 ATM/debit card annual fee for unlimited ATM cash withdrawals or pay no annual fee but with only 8 free ATM cash withdrawals every month.

This is because your current Maybank savings account is not a basic savings account. And you will be charged RM2 for every IBG done.

No. Your Maybank savings account is not a basic savings account. Instead, it is a regular savings account hence the 4 free ATM cash withdrawals rule.

Not for the case of basic savings/current account. It has something to do with the product code and it is not as simple as changing from annual fee free option to annual fee option like all other Maybank savings/current account products. But then, i previously said i am not too sure about this as i do not know if the product code works for Maybank savings/current account products. I know for sure that it is not possible with RHB Bank and CIMB Bank basic savings/current account.

Hello, I just read through the thread and want to confirm something.

I have a CIMB account (main account) but have MBB2 CC (no savings accounts with MBB). I want to pay off my CC bills through CIMBClicks.

1. I login CIMBClicks > IBG
2. Select Maybank
3. Payment Type: Credit Card
4. Beneficiary Account: 16-digit (Master Card) OR 15-digit (AMEX)
5. Beneficiary Name: Full account holder name (not name on card, rite?)

Are the above steps correct? I haven't used IBG before to pay CC bills, and I dowan to make mistakes since it involves money :S

If the steps are correct means that I have to pay 2x Transaction fees (RM0.50 / 1.00 depending on # of earlier transfers)?

Should be :

1. Login to CIMBClicks
2. Click Transfers
3. Click Transfer Funds
4. Under To Other Bank, Click Interbank GIRO
5. Select the beneficiary bank
6. Fill in all required fields

Asking those with actual experience with CIMB Cash Deposit Machines.

1. Can we pay multiple CIMB CC accounts by specifying the specific amount with one single CASH deposit ?

*
Some bank machine is really whacko! Reject a few time then is able to accept. But I must say that Citibank Cash Deposit machine (in Penang) is the best. I have no problem whasoever using them.

Added on June 3, 2011, 10:04 amAnother tip is try to minimize the number of credit card you carry. I once have 7 (including my wife) and keeping track and paying them is a major headache. Always forget and pay late and got penalized.

Since then, I cut down the number to 3 at most. Also keep in handy the information below in ta small note book that you can carry around:
1. Credit card number
2. Due date
3. Amount to pay for that month

Then, I just pick a date that suits the due date of all account and make a trips to town to visit all the cash deposit machine.

What I am looking for now is to be able to settle with just ONE card, and open an online saving/current account with them so to perform the transaction online for FREE.

But I think this is difficult as the rewards is going to get more attractive'r' from bank to bank...

I opened a OCBC iQ Basic account (maintain RM500 in account to avoid service charge) which offers five(5) FREE Interbank Giro (IBG) to pay other banks CC bills.
Very useful indeed.

That is nice.
I got charged RM1.00 each when I used CimbClicks to transfer to settle my SCB and OCBC bills (I-REMMIT CHARGE).
As I know, the first 2 transactions of the months are only 50 cents. Anyone can clarify?

I assume you are helping family members or friends to make payment?

But is all the card due dates the same?

Or you have 8 different cards from the same issuer??? thumbup.gif

Did you deposit via Cheque Deposit Machine (with cheque scanning) ?
I wonder what's the limit of CC/BT accounts the machine can handle.

The correct charges should be from free to RM2, depends on which bank you are transferring the money out from and your account type.

Default IBG charges is RM2.
You need to tell them that you have Basic Savings Account, then it would be RM0.50.
Are you sure you have a Basic Savings Account ? What is the account listed as under M2U ?

Payee : Maybankard Centre
Write the CC number and amount to be paid behind the cheque.

On the flip side, why not pay using M2U to save 15sen ?

Pay your bill by check - they don't charge for that. Or by using your bank's online bill pay system.
Always pay your bill in full on time - that way you don't have any interest to pay. If you don't have the money to buy something - don't charge it. Wait until you can afford it. Buying on credit used to be called 'Buying on the never-never' in England. Because you never paid it off and therefore you never properly owned the item.
Credit cards can be very useful if used properly and carefully. Don't go into debt.
Good Luck!

I personally don't think that there is any problem with surcharge on IBG transfer. If you go to the card issuing bank's branch or ATM, you will end up paying more than the IBG surcharge.

ensure you perform IBG before 12pm to be same-day processing. You can call your CC to check payment on the next working day.

It all depends how close the banks are located within your area.
If your CC bill >RM5k, then it becomes more expensive to IBG.

I'd like to ask, if I purchase a notebook online that cost rm1000, how long do I have to pay back the bank? Its a Public Bank credit card.
I'm still new to this so I'm not sure how it works. And how do I pay the bank back? Is it the same method as those listed in page 1?

I'm still new to this so I'm not sure how it works. And how do I pay the bank back? Is it the same method as those listed in page 1?
*
You need to settle the outstanding balance 20 days (normally) from the date of your next statement to avoid extra charge. The due date is also written there. Yes, same methods as page 1.

Yeah, do pay several days before due date as processing takes time.

The statement balance should be cleared by statement due date.

let say my statement date is 1st everymth.

5th march i swipe RM50. I then cleared the dept on 10th march.

then 15th march i swipe RM100, so wat do i have in 1st april? can show each balance to me? thanks smile.gif

From the above scenario, your outstanding balance will be RM100 (1st april).

By the way, it is not necessary for you clear the RM50 first before the statement date. Let's say you dont clear the debt on 10th march, your balance will be RM150 in the next statement (1st april). From 1st april, you are normally given 20 days interest free period to clear the balance.

The due date or last date of payment is written clearly on your statement. If you do not clear before the due date, you have to pay interest.

Hope you can understand.

No charges.
As long as you settle the Statement Balance BEFORE the Due Date, you won't be charge interest

If the payment is cleared on the 11th, then no charges.
Which bank's CC are you referring to ? Certain banks is very strict with Due Date (like HLB)

Put the cheque and statement in an envelope and send by mail. (on the way to work or one the way home when passing a post mail box, just throw in the mail). stamp is RM0.6 only.

OCBC will send their customer statement every month together with a reply envelope.

Not sure of mabank, but for my Standardchartered card, when i purchase more than RM600.
Log-in to online banking, the statement listing will appear a button "click to pay by monthly installment"

Not too sure about direct transfers from CIMB Clicks to MBB Amex cards.

But what I do with my Amex payments is by transferring from other banks into my MBB savings account first, then I transfer from my MBB savings to my Amex. The MBB to Amex transfer is transacted online real time and free of charge. smile.gif

thanks guys for the info here on ways to pay credit cards. Yes I pay my credit card through cash over the counter on some malls customer service and sometimes on the bank itself for safety.

Can. For the transfer fee, you can refer to the IBG thread. It's either RM0.50 or RM2.

I normally paid full normally 1-2 days after billing, but only 1 payment RM59.32, eventhough i have already paid for it, it still stated in "statement balance" as RM59.32, but "outstanding balance" RM0. Statement Balance will always stay the same until the next Statement Date.
Outstanding Balance = RM0.00 is good (fully paid)

This is my first time owning a credit card...got it under Standard Chartered RM300 cash back promo (no other reason why I would get one except for this tongue.gif)
Then I just realised.....I don't know how to pay my bill, lol...

From what I read, I figured that paying by cash through ATM should be free, but what if the amount is odd, do I have to do it over the counter?
If over the counter, will it incur any fee?

If I were to do it online, can I transfer from another bank's savings account to SC? I think the cost is going to be 10 cents only effective this May, yes? FYI, I haven't done any online banking before too blush.gif

If there are any better/cost effective/easier way that I may have overlooked, kindly let me know. Thanks!

The easiest and hassle free is through IBG. The cost is minimal compared to anything that require you doing it physically.

Hi, this is my first time to pay my UOB CC via CIMB Clicks as before this I only go to UOB branch & damn they only have few branches.

I kinda confused with CIMB Clicks, Transfer to Other Banks' form.

I selected United Overseas Bank Bhd as for the beneficiary, key-in my 16 digits card number. The recepient's name column is should the name on my card right?

Then there is a column "Recipient's Reference" . I skipped this column & click next but apparently, it is a compulsory to fill. So what is the recipient's reference about? Is it the "Payment Account Ref" that is on my statement?

My UOB CC statement contains two cards & one of the card's 16 digits number is stated as the "Payment Account Ref".

And I need to transfer funds to make payment for each CC right? So for both transaction, the "Recipient's Reference" will be the same? Just the CC number is different?

As per CIMBClicks FAQ
QUOTE
Recipient Reference is an interbank initiative to allow the recipient to see a payment reference from the sender when a transfer is made. Starting 1 July 2013, recipient will see this note in their bank's statement. It is a mandatory field introduced on 18 May 2013 in CIMB Clicks. You may enter up to 20 characters when you perform an IBG transfer (not applicable for IBFT). However, between 18 May to 30 June 2013, this will only appear in your transactions history.

How many credit cards you have with UOB ?
Payment Account Ref is your CREDIT CARD NUMBER
Paying to the Payment Account Ref will do auto-apportionment.... i.e. full payment to Principal, followed by payment to Supplementary

My CC statement contains two cards, One Card & VOX Card.

Both under same statement with Payment Acount Ref is my VOX Card's number.

I only have those two cards with UOB.

That's why now I confused much with the "Recipient's Reference" column in CIMB Clicks, IBG Transfer Form. cry.gif

The CIMB Recipient Reference is meant more for the recipient to verify the transaction description (20 characters).

A suggestion: Just put your IC number

Guys, what method would u recommend to have least cost incur when paying credit card bill.

There is no OCBC branch in Sibu, therefore interbank will charge RM2 or 1.50.. is there any other cheaper alternative?

From what i experience HSBC & MBB had it.

thanks for the info. surely will remember this next time why someone in front of me make the machine "out of service". will stop the guy from trying more than 4x

no, the front of the cheque is to write the bank name whom you are paying to. you probably need to follow the way how to write. each bank has their own way to write.

Sorry, I couldn't find any info from Maybank official website itself. My question is, if I were to pay Maybank credit card by cheque, may I know what should I fill up in the 'A/C Payee' section? I understand that I should fill up the credit card number as A/C No. at the back of the cheque.

Is it possible to settle one credit card bill from another credit card?

For example,

HSBC Credit Card bill = RM5000
HLB Credit Card credit limit = RM10000

So, can I use HLB Credit Card to online MEPS transfer RM5000 to HSBC Credit Card?
