Insua is always willing venture forward and have a go, but he is not speedy.

Also seeing that we have the best and most likely costliest battering ram around, it seems logical that we get some proper crossers. One trick pony typical British winger with pace also can d!

But again I must ask, "What about the stadium?!?"

That's why we are linked to Lennon? laugh.gif

Aurelio doesn't play often enough. Same goes for Agger if you ask me.

Seems like Maddie's still infatuated with downing tongue.gif
Actually I think Insua is decent enuff since tactical awareness & timing of runs can be coached. Just don't ask him to man mark during corners sweat.gif

Ah, stadium, a delicate issue...to move or not to move unsure.gif
To be honest I really think the owner still not decided to move or expand. Though additional income far more outweighs the tradition if they're typical bizmen. Personally me would think that maybe the need to create squad depth & stabilise the team made them think twice to start the discussion on new/expand stadium.

I think the coming summer, the priority is CM, aka a playmaker that can dictate the game.
Carroll, Suarez, and Kuyt or Miereles as backup striker/AM is decent enough.

If Gerrard is injured, only left Spearing and Lucas.

I'd say that it's quite obvious that we need to invest some money on a winger or two.
We might be getting aquilani back, and we have meireles who i think is a good playmaker - some people might think of him as more of an attacking midfielder rather than a fabregas sort of playmaker but we play with defensive midfielders and so having attacking midfielders would be good in our sort of lineup.
I think aurelio is a good player - and he can fill in at either left back or left wing, he has a quality left foot, his deliveries are superb.
I think we need to invest in some pace on the wings.

we badly need a width NOT another cm yes an addition of a playmaker that operates in cm would be nice
but seeing we need to ask meirelles to play on the left that is a waste and pitty him!
even if gerrard injured we still can pass to either flanks and count for the fast winger to get past players and penetrates inside the box or giving some dangerous crosses that itself will open up some goal scoring chances not like now meirelles going past players? kuyt slalom past players? maybe just once or twice throughout 90 minutes then the ball get cleared away
unless JH willing to spend like a lot of money it's not wise to buy a cm in the transfer window considering we still have lucas, gerrard, spearing (still don't rate him highly no matter what), meirelles, jonjo what if al fit? they will be disgruntled players and disrupt the harmony

Added on April 13, 2011, 1:50 ama left back and two wingers that's the priority! if still have some money left from the allocated funds then only can spend on playmaker (CM)

Transfer speculation is indeed rife these days with us reportedly having same cash in the coffers. It has also became sort of repetitive. I hear names being thrown around like yesterday's garbage but can anyone provide a little more insight into some of these players we've been linked with. I've not seen many of them play so I have the following questions.

1) Why Eden Hazard? What makes him the right player for us? What are his attributes?

Same questions apply to any player who any poster thinks we must have.

The reason I cited Stephen Warnock's name earlier isn't just because I think he's decent. It's because I've actually seen him play. I'm inclined to believe that Enrique is a better prospect being 25. I've also heard that he's a hard tackler and adept at going forward but has anyone actually watched him play over a few games?

The reason you hear comment indicating that some of you talk about transfers like you're sitting behind your keyboard playing Football Manager is because of the lack of insight. Instead of basing your opinions purely on reputation or what you hear, ever consider his value? His wages? His adaptability? Does he even speak English? Disciplinary record?

Not to be a cold blanket, but Eden Hazard has repeated many times to the media that he prefers Arsenal over us. Plus Stan Kroenke just take over Arsenal and injected at least 40m of cash for them. I think a bid of 15-20m is enough for Arsenal to get his siggy.

Get over it, he won't sign for us next season. We should be looking for other LB/LW and possibly a CB or AMF next season. smile.gif

So how about getting Jarvis as our winger??Just recently get a international call-up and playing in EPL...the problem is he is English and that will cost us a bomb....

But I do hope we get some proper winger who can provide quality crosses into the box for carroll.....If not, it's such wasted for his heading skill...

Here's another thing to consider when plucking names from the air. There is a good possibility that we will be out of Europe altogether. Nice to be linked with big names but will they come especially if they have the opportunity to join a club playing Champions League football?

Coentrao does look interesting to solve our LB crisis, but it depends whether he want to join us or not and possibly not playing in Europe for a season.

Unless there is a slim chance that Konchesky join us again next season after finishing his loan, and not getting any buyers...that may solve our LB problems? tongue.gif

I would welcome the signing of Young/Downing, Adam or Jarvis if they want to play with us. Especially Charlie Adam with his 10m rated corner kicks, he can be a real headache to the opposition defenders esp. when Andy Carroll is around. biggrin.gif

Well as far as Thommo is concerned, the deal is virtually done. That and we'll have Insua returning and if Aurelio can maintain full fitness, we'll have ample bodies in that department. Even if both aren't fit, Agger provides a decent stop-gap option. Not saying we can't get someone better in but wide players are sort of a priority if you ask me. Cole is out of sorts, Kuyt plays best on the right of a 3-pronged-attack, Maxi doesn't have the pace and like Cole, he's left-footed while being played on the left. Our options our wide are so limited, Mereiles has had to play on the right on occasions. We're a little think in the centre of the park but when Shelvey's fit, we'll be pretty much covered.

Therefore, whether it's Hazard on someone else, I feel the priority is to cover our flanks.

after a while AFK, so i just pop in and give some insight/opinion about what we discuss now

Stadium

Well, my heart not purely as a Duke heart when it comes to Liverpool, but when it come to the club, to move forward, if we have to go to other side of a better term, then i will say yes. I know its a very prestigious place where we are now, the culture, history all remains there. BUT, if the owner can just 'expand' the stadium. it was a bonus for Liverpool fans.

Winning 3-0

Congratz on the win. Just see the BPL express, and i think the attacking that consist Kuyt, Mereiles, Andy and Suarez seems like .errr..good enough i think?...but i want more from them. Maybe they can perform like that when we are on away ?

New Player

as a logic/on paper, star player seldom come to a club that not participating in Europe Competition. But i hope they will come and help our club back to glory again. With our owner now have the money, all the club will put higher price tag on their player

We need good footballing team players. Just look at what team work can do instead of big name individuals. Loved the way Suarez and Carroll linked up with each other during the game.

It's been a trend that managers from a specific part of the world are inclined to bring in players from the same place. No surprise therefore that King Kenny is so interested in Adam. I'll give you another reason why buying him ahead of a host of other more fanciful names could prove to be shrewed. He is a proven matchwinner. Blackpool have relied on him for some important goals and his influence on the team has been admirable. Last season we had only 3 notable matchwinners in Torres, Gerrard and even Benayoun. What is a matchwinner? Well to me it's someone you can count on to get you a goal when you most need it, especially when the team isn't playing well but he still does. Often you come across players who look good when the whole team plays well but disappears when they don't. Players like Gerrard can carry the team on their own. Adam has done the same for Blackpool.

Yup, notice that. Like how GH would bring French kids, Rafa with his La Liga raid and King Kenny just loves scot players. There is no denying that there is a bit of bias on theri side but if its good for the club to move forward, the I don;t mind if we have 22 Scotsmen on the team as long we are winning games and continue to fight for the title.
