Sure boh on this?
Double layer = when hit by stone, it will have a crack on that spot and slowly grow on a single direction. After reach the end, it will start another direction....
On this, better don't get your windscreen to subject to thermal shock, else it will crack faster and more...
As it is double layer, only outer layer cracks, the inner layer will "hold" the out layer.

Single layer = cheaper and when a stone hits, it will crack like a normal glass. In Malay, hancur berkecai..... And very messy also to clear it up.

My explanation might not be good, haha.....

Procedure is dirt simple :
1. now you cannot buy seperately like last time, you got crack you buy and claim, no questions asked.
2. must buy together with your normal insurance together with windscreen insurance, usually no questions asked. But don't claim after you got it. If do like this, you are putting your agent in a complicated situation. Just wait for another few months before submit a claim.

When doing claim, you no need to take photo, your agent will do the job. Just give them a call and drive your car there.

Windscreen:

(1) Go renew with car annual insurance for RM600 (double layer + labour). The premium is RM15 for each RM100 insured (I think not yet increase). Therefore RM600 coverage = RM90 premium extra to pay on top of the car insurance.

(2) Fastest/Easiest procedure to claim: Wait few months after renew/add-in windscreen coverage. Then, call up agent/insurance to ask for "approved panel workshop list". Normally they have it in a booklet or can find from website. Call up several of it, ask for quote (incl. labour) to ensure it is RM600 or below. Otherwise you need to pay for the extra.

Once you choose which workshop you like, drive there with your insurance cover-note/policy, inform the guy. They'll do everything, i.e. tel contact insurance to confirm, take before-pic, replace windscreen, take after-pic, etc. Then you drive away without paying single-cent with the windscreen fixed (replaced) thumbup.gif

I've done it couple of times already during the first few years, every year also crack once (real one, not tipu), until claims dept also suspect. But recent few years, no crack (touch wood) and RM90 wasted every year tongue.gif

Follow same procedure, only two difference:
(1) During add-in windscreen coverage when renewing your annual insurance, just ensure the insurance company does not insist to inspect the windscreen before accepting coverage.
(2) Do not claim immediate, wait several months. Best is wait till 11th month. Cause windscreen coverage is once only. If you buy in Jan, break in Feb and fix it (free under covered). Then Jun break again. If you do not pay another RM90 after the Feb fix, then there is no more windscreen coverage.

Normally if still can drive, if break in Feb, I'll wait till Nov/Dec to fix and claim it. Then at least if break in next 2 months, I already renew windscreen coverage in the following Jan.

Note that windscreen insurance is not like car accident insurance. Car if buy 1-yr insurance in Jan, if you accident in Feb, fix in Mar (free claim). Then Apr accident, fix in May (free claim also). Then accident again in Jun, fix in Jul (free claim too), ... , etc. Next year, no insurance company want to accept you tongue.gif

^This you must have an agent is your good friend..... Or at least have good relation with the company.... As I never buy the windscreen insurance before(only once when I got a big crack), so if they want to ask more questions, it is normal.... Because is not us as the end user doing frauds, but the adjuster did.... So they are more strict on this....

Added on April 28, 2011, 3:09 pmBut I think stone chip should not be any problem....

Ask the agent/insurance company, if they need to inspect or not.

no offend but any taiko used this before can share experience/user review?
i am skeptical on a few things:
- will the cover (normally plastic), get yellow and blur very fast?
- the beam focusing is good or not? normally seen on road are those like light beam is like no focus point (bad to other road users eye)...

My 1995 1.5 wira Manual fc is like really crazy bad right now. like 240km, one full tank habis already.

Bring back to Eon Proton to top overhaul, come back one full tank until 320km only. Now hovering around 270km again. It doesn't move very fast either, 120km/h is the max or else the engine going to cry already.

However, I'm also stuck in jams 4 days a week, so dunno if that would affect so much or not.
