You do it yourself at counter ? Or ask agent/bank do it ? I guess most likely is the runner fees.

For insurance, if do yourself at kiosk, max NCD... then can get 55% + (5 or 10) % => if I'm not mistaken, already launched. Means can get up to 60-65% NCD

Added on March 17, 2011, 2:05 pmDamn my road tax expire tomorrow and  i called my insurance company uniasia. They said i cannot renew one year and only renew half year because they waiting for the new insurance ruling thing and i was told that i have to buy p.a. on top of the comprehensive later on. Some more sum insured has to be 12,000. Waffak i only insured 10k this year.

I was quoted half year insurance Rm115 without ncd. It only allow ncd claims for people buying one year insurance and they wouldnt allow me buy one year. And then if i was to buy 3rd party, i have to go puspakom wei
... damn you government, why paksa us buy pa i already got my own insurance make me for out more... Anyone got any insurance company to share
*
I insure 2 months ago, >9 yrs car, 14k, include rm600 windscreen cover (premium = rm90), after deduct 55% NCD and extra discount, pay RM365.27 only.

What you need to do is, find some friends working in General Insurance industry (not Life Insurance) and ask them help you "talk inside" to accept your policy for 1 yr. You may need to pay them higher on cover, e.g. 12k-14k comprehensive coverage, but at least you no need to buy p.a. and also get to utilise your NCD.

Some insurance need to see your windscreen first, before they accept your initial first-time windscreen cover under them. Better call to ask if they need to view or not.

But when buying together with normal insurance, they may not check it... But make sure to claim after few months...
*
Not necessary, even buy with yearly insurance, some still want to inspect it, in case already cracked/chipped somewhere.

QUOTE(Lineage @ Mar 17 2011, 05:15 PM)
Yeah..I will pecah it after a few month I renew the insurance..but I need to find a windscreen shop which can claim for me using that way..

or all windscreens shop are doing that kind of service?  biggrin.gif
*
Just goto the insurance panel workshop (ask your insurance), to be safe for fast claim. Tell the workshop boss, want to claim windscreen and your insurance. Normally he'll punch your windscreen to make the crack bigger, so that can take picture to claim and replace with new one.

Generally take half-day to dismantle, put epoxy-glue and put back windscreen. Note that there are two types of windscreen: tempered is more expensive, and single-layer cheaper.

Oh..I know Wira's windscreen is RM300..not sure its tempered or single layer..
now my windscreen..u can see got a lot of small tiny holes..a lot..and its rough..i think is kena small rock and those sands when high speed..so after so many years..it become like that..
*
RM300 incl. labour ? If yes, then generally should be single-layer. i.e. once shattered, the whole windscreen will fall down in pieces.
If tempered, it is two layer glass, if broken, it will still hold. Tempered windscreen is about RM400-500 w/o labour.

Try find a good panel workshop that will do good work. Otherwise, your windscreen may crack easily again. Or leak in water as mention above.

Otherwise, goto those windscreen shop to ask them polish/fill-up the tiny holes. But have to fork out money lah tongue.gif

Wah..fill until they crazy..whole piece is like that..by the way, I think change a new windscreen is cheaper..haha..  biggrin.gif

They not fill hole by hole la... they patch like how ppl pour plaster/cement on ground, then level it up. Then polish.

Your case should be possible to do and claimable. Just make sure discuss with the panel workshop boss/supervisor first and also confirm with him on your insurance policy before whack the screen.

Ohya, I heard cases after during dismantle the windscreen and also after that need to clean up the old epoxy (scrape) ... the foreman may accidentally scratch your car paint along the windscreen frame, depending on the person and your luck. This is not covered sweat.gif and the workshop will normally just polish or spot-paint... will look noticable and ugly if too big. That's the risk to change windscreen. You can pot pet pot pet the workshop, but that's all they'll do for you doh.gif even for panel workshop.

My temperature gauge, recently always jump from middle bar to maximum. But after sometime, 10-20 minutes, it will goes back to middle. I can still drive the car, stuck in traffic and also go 80-100km/h during that time, no smoke (water vapour), etc. Engine sound normal.

I've changed the temperature sensor, and my foreman says most likely is the speedometer (VDO) unit faulty.

(1) However, I'm skeptical if it is VDO or intermittend water pump faulty ? Radiator no water leak so far.

(2) How much is a 2nd hand VDO cost ?

Wira 1.5M year 2002 with white VDO. Is it common to have this problem ?

Thanks

VDO.... As far as I know, only the speedo are easy to fail.... As for radiator issue, whenever it shows high, do check your radiator fan.
*
Last weekend, return home, temperature gauge max again. Park my car in front of the house, open hood. I can see the fan is working (off and on couple of times). No water leak from radiator, reservoir also 60% full.

Let it run another 5 min at max gauge, still nothing. hmm.gif Switch off and went inside. doh.gif

Today while driving, it slowly creep up to 90% max, then hang there for few minutes, then immediate within split second, it drop back to middle (~45%) doh.gif Still continue to drive for the next 10-15 minutes.

go flush ur enginecooling system, change ur pipe line this almost might cause by dirt and rust build inside ur car. service ur radiator n etc... bcoz the temp meter is the hardest to spoil comparing to others meter on d dashboard.
*
How often do we need to service radiator ? e.g. once/twice a year ?

The water inside, is not rusty. Still greenish and transparent-water (open radiator cap to look)

My foreman says wira yr2000 (white VDO) is common problem with temperature gauge hmm.gif

I'm sceptical, to find the true reason and fix/repair it.

Windscreen:

(1) Go renew with car annual insurance for RM600 (double layer + labour). The premium is RM15 for each RM100 insured (I think not yet increase). Therefore RM600 coverage = RM90 premium extra to pay on top of the car insurance.

(2) Fastest/Easiest procedure to claim: Wait few months after renew/add-in windscreen coverage. Then, call up agent/insurance to ask for "approved panel workshop list". Normally they have it in a booklet or can find from website. Call up several of it, ask for quote (incl. labour) to ensure it is RM600 or below. Otherwise you need to pay for the extra.

Once you choose which workshop you like, drive there with your insurance cover-note/policy, inform the guy. They'll do everything, i.e. tel contact insurance to confirm, take before-pic, replace windscreen, take after-pic, etc. Then you drive away without paying single-cent with the windscreen fixed (replaced) thumbup.gif

I've done it couple of times already during the first few years, every year also crack once (real one, not tipu), until claims dept also suspect. But recent few years, no crack (touch wood) and RM90 wasted every year tongue.gif

Follow same procedure, only two difference:
(1) During add-in windscreen coverage when renewing your annual insurance, just ensure the insurance company does not insist to inspect the windscreen before accepting coverage.
(2) Do not claim immediate, wait several months. Best is wait till 11th month. Cause windscreen coverage is once only. If you buy in Jan, break in Feb and fix it (free under covered). Then Jun break again. If you do not pay another RM90 after the Feb fix, then there is no more windscreen coverage.

Normally if still can drive, if break in Feb, I'll wait till Nov/Dec to fix and claim it. Then at least if break in next 2 months, I already renew windscreen coverage in the following Jan.

Note that windscreen insurance is not like car accident insurance. Car if buy 1-yr insurance in Jan, if you accident in Feb, fix in Mar (free claim). Then Apr accident, fix in May (free claim also). Then accident again in Jun, fix in Jul (free claim too), ... , etc. Next year, no insurance company want to accept you tongue.gif

Ask the agent/insurance company, if they need to inspect or not.

QUOTE(lixc @ May 16 2011, 08:52 PM)
emm, anyone that having non-ABS Wiras, can help me test something or tell me the experience?
When you drive at 40 or 60km/h on normal road, hit the brake as hard as you can, will your car skid (or give skid sound)?
If yes, is it all 4 wheels or one of the particular wheels or particular side of the car?
*
Mine non-ABS. Over the years, I've jammed my brakes several times due to emergency, always on straight line only. Yes, it skid straight with sound. Sometimes, I do a 2-3 jamming/release with my own manual-ABS-foot. Since I'm concentrating the steering and brakes, I can't roll down the window and put my head out to view which tires locked tongue.gif But I guess both front wheels locked up (disc brake), not the rear ones (drum).

The experience ? It goes like this the moment you jammed it:
(i) Oh no!
(ii) Sh!t !!!!!!!! (skidding)
(iii) I'm Fucuk!!! (just few ft from the car in front). Eyes getting as big as dinner plate, even if you have mata-sepet.
(iv) Keep swearing for the next few hundred milliseconds... you'll be amazed how much you can spew out. This helps a lot to release the tension. Trust me.
(v) ... ... ... ... ... this is where you encounter lost-time or twilight-zone thing for split-second. Unexplainable.
(vi) Stoped just few inch/cm from hitting the front car. Fuhhh.... the only thing I can see is the car plate + rear lights of the car in front. sweat.gif and you come back to reality.

Moral: Don't speed and follow too close. thumbup.gif

Damn.. I didn't realise I didnt lock the bonnet properly when I close it. Drive a bit then reach 100kmh and the bonnet go up by itself! Now my bonnet kemek on both side that holds it.

All the foreman and mudguard till spraying guy ask how come bonnet didn't hit front windscreen. Turn out the bonnet damper / absorber that I got installed helped to retain the bonnet from smashing my windscreen. So yeah, the RM60 that I spend few years ago helped me save RM500 this time ..
*
You are lucky. My friend in Perdana, encounter same thing at roughly 120-130km/h on highway. The bonnet open up and hit the roof + windshield.

damage cost:
(1) Replace bonnet + 2x hinge
(2) Fix dented roof
(3) Replace cracked windscreen
(4) Paint

Few k gone

Try ask spare part shop or accessories shop. Also, you may want to check and ask for the clips also, in case any broken or flew off.

Also, when you are fixing, becareful when installing it, as it extends from the side of bottom-front-windscreen to bottom-rear-windscreen (for wira sedan). There is one time I put back and whack the back portion a bit too hard. Next morning, my rear-windscreen fully cracked doh.gif Lucky got buy windscreen-coverage sweat.gif

anyone know how much cost for changing engine mounting?and how to know that our car need to change mounting...
*
Just changed one unit (on top, next to timing belt) cost me RM50 (whole unit, metal + rubber). Not sure kena potong or not by my regular mechanic.

This is due to engine oil leaking, from 2x oil seal. Have to take out timing belt, etc. Since doing that, also change my 60k km timing belt (not due for another 20k km). Mechanic says and shows the belt is covered in oil, and recommend to change it, since it may crack easily or putus while driving (degraded). Sin-ka me ? hmm.gif

1x timing belt (RM80)
1x another belt (forgot) (RM10)
2x oil seal
+ labour for all
= RM200

Expensive or not ? hmm.gif
