Those who went to the vista hunt, if you remember the Logo thingy that you have to figure out, it was clearly an Ftec. Wtf did they say Acer.

Anyways, Left when the announcer says no. is 82/85. Bummer.

The Aero looks different IRL than what you see online, have to see it to believe it.!!

Back from Lowyat Plaza too...my biggest surprise is that the Vista retail packs are only 1/2 the size i imagined! doh.gif

There were about 10-20 computers running Vista over there. Many were laptops, but there were a few desktops, and also one badass Core 2 Quad gaming rig. Cost RM8k without monitor. drool.gif

I didn't spend much time there, so I only got to play a game of Chess Titans on a laptop...I lost on the easiest setting....damn off form sia blink.gif Anyway, I guess I'll be waiting for a while until Vista becomes more stable, then I'll get an OEM copy of Home Premium together with my next comp upgrade. Cheers! thumbup.gif

The retail pack looked cooler than I saw from the web. But I've never regretted getting a OEM since I got my new rig, I'm entitled to it and it's more than 50% cheaper, that's it.

You get all the features. Yes. It's just like your retail version but with different license term.

I'm not going to list out all the details, but here's the highlight

- OEM is only distributed / pre-installed on a new PC. It's not legal to install it on a used PC.

- Once you activated your OEM Vista, the hardware information will be sent to Microsoft. If you intend to activate it on a different machine, the activation will fail. In contrast, for retail, the license can be transferred from one machine to another (be it new or old).

- For OEM, the support is provided by the vendor/PC manufacturer. For retail, the support is provided by Microsoft.

Anyways, I've posted some footage of the launch event here smile.gif

If me not mistaken, we can transfer the license of the retail vista from one PC to another but we cannot do that with OEM.
Is that true?
Means the OEM of vista is tied to the mobo, but OEM of XP dun tied to anything, can transfer whenever however we want.
QUOTE
while the EULA for an OEM copy of XP made it clear that it was for installation on a single machine only and tied to that machine (or rather its motherboard) for the rest of time, Microsoft has been letting XP users reactivate anyhow without trouble. As a result users who had purchased OEM copies of XP back in 2001 have continued to reuse it up through today, which is an excellent deal for them given the low price of the OEM versions spread over 5 years. While the EULA has not changed for Vista as far as this policy goes, there have been concerns and rumors that Microsoft will be clamping down on this practice.

Quoted from AnandTech.
Almost had myself getting OEM of Home Premium >_<
But the retail version of Home Premium is almost RM1k~!
*keep using the ahem Vista Oltimate b4 found a cheaper Home Premium*

EDIT: Wrong quote tag.

wah so expensive, with prices like that no wonder so many resort to ** one. but the Oem is reasonably priced I guess. After it's more stable and when I want to upgrade to dual core, I'll probably get the home premium. maybe year's end.

Added on February 4, 2007, 7:51 amwhat happens if we upgrade the CPU or RAM on vista OEM? will that affect anything? do we have to reactivate?

Just got back from Low Yat this morning. For those of you asking for the price...

user posted image

Got it from the Cycom booth outside Low Yat.

The Cycom promoter say all vista retail are 32bit. 64bit for server only. Can download from internet. rclxub.gif
Is this true? I was under the impression when we buy retail version we get bot 32bit and 64bit edition.

All the review I have read say got this option. Maybe local edition is different...anyone can verify this?
