QUOTE(chonkit @ Apr 26 2011, 12:44 AM) i din try mad team froyo..so not quite sure..haha..but after upgrade, u guys must reset the phone without sim card else it will keep popping out .com.process.android not responding.. I'm using 2 units G5 - one is local GT-I5503 which I just updated to the official froyo 2.2 , and the other UK version GT-I5500 which I used Motafoca 2.0.9 final. On Motafoca v2.0.9 , my battery can last for 3-4 days with usage of : 1) wifi on everyday for about 10 hours, 2) social networks (with chattings) on for about 10 hours/day , 3) web surfing about an hour/day. 4) phone calls about 15 mins talk time/day. On official version 2.2, as I just upgraded I still don't know how long it'll last. I'll try and will keep posted here for you guys. As for performance, so far on Motafoca v 2.0.9 it's stable and working smooth and fine for my GT-I5500 with Link2SD also working perfectly.

Ok, I was running MOTa's 2.0.9.2 i think previously and just decided to revert back to eclair and did a factory reset. Curious to try out the official Froyo. After doing so and conecting to KIES, I get "This version of the device cannot be updated" :S

[/quote For your case, I think you need to go to Samsung Service Centre to get them to update for you. As I have a friend in UK who did the same as you and he couldn't update via KIES when UK's official version came out. He brought to Samsung Service Centre in UK to update. So I think this may also apply to your case, or I maybe wrong. Perhaps someone here could be of help.

colour scheme is slightly different, you can disable auto orientation via top status bar pull down, wifi works better (i can connect to WPA2 easily, previously cannot), you can move certain apps to SD via the application management, wifi hotspot, and there is a task manager app built in now, quadrant benchmark results = 555 (just slightly above HTC Desire/Nexus One). Almost same as eclair I think and I don't feel any noticeable performance improvement.
and to chonkit, nope i didn't get any process errors. after updating to froyo, i did do another round of factory reset though, so not sure if that makes any difference.
Added on April 26, 2011, 8:45 ambtw, anyone know how to disable those pesky adult ads in some of the apps? e.g. even in quadrant i'm getting some stupid "babe photo" ad. and in some games, i can see some adult ads - how to disable/block those?

I tried to do an upgrade early this morning and I couldn't. My phone was previously running on mota's mod as stated earlier. So I tried my GF's phone which has never been flashed and she was able to receive the update. I noticed one thing as to why I cannot update and maybe many of you as well. The pic below shows my version. I flashed back to Eclair using the firmware provided in dropbox as well as the ones you're able to download.
Notice that mine says 'PDA:JG5' on my GF's phone it showed 'PDA:JH1'. I believe, thats the reason I can't update. I may be wrong tho This post has been edited by josenigel: Apr 26 2011, 10:37 AM

I have upgraded to the official Froyo firmware but my phone kept displaying "com.android.phone" error message. It's something to do with the network. Now I'm running on airplane mode.
Do you guys know how to resolve this problem?
Added on April 26, 2011, 5:24 pmI just did a factory reset and it everything is working perfectly. Now I have to restore everything.
