my G5 is now much faster! thanks to motofoca.

for those of you intending to flash to v.2.0.9, this is the one. just follow the instruction here http://forum.g5devteam.com/index.php?/topi...galaxy-5-i5500/

even a beginner like me who have never tried installing custom firmware before can do it, i'm sure all of you too can.

don't wait for samsung. they sucks!

happy froyo-ing!

hi ol.. i juz bought G5 and i dunno how to make it more cool. can u ol suggest coolest app for me?

i downloaded some Games esp Angry Birds and etc. but it is installed in my Phone memory. i luv to have game but my phone memory getting smaller. so my question is, HOW TO INSTALL AN APPLICATION TO MEMORY CARD? i want it to be installed in my memory but i dunno. plss help me. thnx all..
*
1) eclair 2.1 - cannot installed applications in the SD card.

2) if you want to install applications in the SD card, there are two options :

a) root your phone.

b) flash to motofoca's latest froyo v. 2.0.9 (this is the best option at the moment) as you can root or unroot after flashing (as everything is installed in this version by motofoca) and you can also install the applications in the SD card.

Added on April 3, 2011, 2:50 pmHi, has anyone use Skype on motafoca's v2.0.9?

My Skype doesn't seem to be working - always forced closed.

But formerly when using Eclair 2.1 there was no problem.

Can anyone share your experience with this issue?

Thanks.

did i miss any steps?T_T

how to save my memory card?T_T

Now your SD card can't be formatted and it's blank (unusable). But don't worry, follow the following steps you can have back your SD card to use as good as new :

1) Download the Partition Wizard Home here (don't worry, it's free) - http://download.cnet.com/Partition-Wizard-...4-10962200.html

2) Use this Partition Wizard to :

a) delete partition

b) wipe partition

b) format partition

3) Close the Partition Wizard

4) Use your pc to format the the SD card.

5) Then open back the Partition Wizard.

6) Create the necessary partitions (Merge/Resize Partition menu) , i.e. a) FAT32 b) ext4 - both must be primary, then c) swap

7) Done, enjoy!

sad..tried whole nite and still unabl to install application on the SD card.

i hav used partition wizard home to partition my SD card. i got a 8 gb memory card. i set 2.3g(primary) as FT32, 2.3 GB as EXT 3 (Primary) , and the remainnign as Swap linux (primary).

can u all guide me again from rooting the phone?

the process that i go through is

1)i use universal androot to root my phone.
2)allow superuser permission
3)use MAD Team APP2sd to set my partition, 1000mb for app2SD script, 200MB for swap script
then, the phone reboot,
4) then i press the reboot system.

then i installed shazam application, but its using my internal memory.

i tried the process over and over again, still fail.

sifu sekalian, please advise
*
I've used MAD Team App2sd to partition before, but somehow this didn't work on my phone. So I used Partition Wizard to partition my SD card.

I think you've partitioned ext3 too big. Just partition this ext3 or ext2 as 500mb will do. So if you are using Partition Wizard, you don't need to use
MAD Team App2sd to partition again.

Try this and see if it works and let us know.

Good luck, bro!

allrite..will try tonite.

So, u mean, by juz using the partition wizard to resize it, then slot back my sd card, tat's the end of the process?

Or i need to repeat the whole steps from rooting by using Androot universal?
*
If you've already rooted your phone, you don't need to root again.

Just use the partition wizard to delete your former partitions and re-partition again. Yup, then slot back your sd card and it's done.

Steps :

1) Delete your partitions on sd card.

2) Close the Mini Tool Partition Wizard.

3) Disconnect your sd card reader.

4) Re-connect your sd card reader to your computer.

5) Format your sd card with your computer.

6) Open the Mini Tool Partition Wizard.

7) Partition your sd card with the wizard as follows : a) FAT32 b) either ext2 or ext3 - make it not more than 500mb in size. Both a) & b) must be primary. and lastly linux swap.

8) Slot back your sd card and you're done.

After you've done this, let us know if it works for you or not.

Hi Everyone,

I've just managed flash to Froyo following the above instruction.
I then using the App2SD (that is pre-installed with this 2.0.9.2) to set the partitions. Then after reboot, I formatted my SD card also using the same application APP2SD. Everything went fine... which is great.

Just a noob question, i dont know why my application still in my phone. When i removed the sd card, my installed application is still there (in my phone).
What should i do to move them into SDcard?

Another question will be, how to install malay language pack for swype? i found that 2.0.9 does not include malay language....

thanks in advance.
*
How do you find this version (2.0.9.2)? Can you please share?

About your SD card, i think MAD Team App2Sd script cannot find the EXT4 partition on your SD card, and it couldn't mount it and creates "binds" (links, or shortcuts) for certain important filesystem locations (/data/app, /data/log and /cache). Therefore your applications is not moved to your sd partitions and they are still in your phone's internal memory.

I have this experience before. So I don't use MAD Team's App2sd to partition my sd card. Instead I used Mini Tool Partition Wizard and it works for me.

Sorry Bro.. typo error.. its 2.0.9. Thanks for your suggestion... Do you mind telling me on how should i partitioning my 2GB SD card (how many meg part 1, part 2 etc).
From previous message, i think somebody said that partition 1 (EXT2) should be setup around 200M, and the rest should be setup as FAT. Totally blurr...
Anybody have any idea on setting the Swype bahasa melayu?

1) Download the Partition Wizard Home here (don't worry, it's free) - http://download.cnet.com/Partition-Wizard-...4-10962200.html

2) Use this Partition Wizard to (you need to do this step if you've formerly partitioned your sd card) :

a) delete partition

b) wipe partition

b) format partition

3) Close the Partition Wizard

4) Use your pc to format the the SD card.

5) Then open back the Partition Wizard.

6) Create the necessary partitions (Merge/Resize Partition menu) , i.e. a) FAT32 b) ext4 set at not more thatn 500mb - both must be primary, then c) linux swap , around 50mb will do. (this is for App2sd)

If you are using Link2sd , you don't need the linux swap partition. Just the FAT32 and either one of these - ext2, or ext3 or ext 5 at not more than 500mb. Both these FAT32 and ext partitions must be primary.

7) After you've partitioned, just slot your sd card back to the phone and enjoy limitless applications on your sd card.

Good luck, bro!

And please do share here whether it works for you or not.

1) I never use handcent so I don't know about this app, but camera 360 can be install in the sd card.

2) Ya, your partitions are correct.

3) Yes, should be enough.

4) System applications cannot be moved to sd cards. Only data applications like games, fb, camera360, papago, etc can be moved to sd card.

thanks guys for your help. I think i'm going to used Link2sd rather than MAD Apps2SD.  Done partitioning my SD. 1st part is FAT32 and 2nd is EXT2. No Swap. Done.

Now, can someone guide me how to flash the compass fix? Its been almost 15 minutes and Odin just stuck at <1> Setup connection.

What I have done

1.I've downloaded the tweak : boot-img-test6.tar (in RAR format).
2. I've extract the files and it became boot-img-test6 (in TAR format)
3. Open Odin.
Select the
OPS file : EUROPA_I5508_v1.0.ops
BOOT  : boot-img-test6.tar
One Package : I5500-MOTAFOCA-2.0.9.tar.md5

after clicking the start button, its stuck at <1> setup connection.

what am i doing wrong??
*
Leave the BOOT blank.

One Package : Don't use I5500-MOTAFOCA-2.0.9.tar.md5 - this is for Froyo flash. Replace this with the boot-img-test6.tar
