i'm not sure about your problem. my other G5 is using the last firmware which is JP6 (i haven't update to the latest yet) and the flash is working ok.
maybe it's the new firmware you're using...

root folder means just any place in your sdcard.... just copy the downloaded files to your sdcard...that's all. don't bother to put in any partition.

Hi all,

I just flash to CyanogenMod 7.1 with hot fix 5, everything look like ok. The process is quite easy, just encounter a problem when upgrading. After i flash, and my phone is reboot, at it show splash screen but it never go to main screen, i wait for 20mins still the same screen. So, i try to use ClockworkMod Recovery to wipe it, after reboot everything is working fine :-)... hope got new hotfix to fix all the problem.

Now my phone already have 2 partition in my sdcard (fat32 & ext4); if I want upgrade to CM7.1 w/ CWM, what should I do regarding to sdcard, leave it, format it, or join the partitions n format it?

don't do anything to it. just leave it as that. after you've installed CWM and CM7.1 v0.5 + hotfix5, EXT4 is requred for mad2sd. to enable mad2sd, use your phone's terminal emulator and type "su" and allow permission, then type "mad2sd on" and reboot. mad2sd will then be enabled.

After playing for the CyanogenMod 7.1 for few hours, i found that 1 function that i like is gone. That is the contact display option. Normally we can go to contact display option to choose either sim, phone or google contact to be display, but now i cannot find this function. Got any solution?

go to >contacts>menu>display options - choose from there. however, in cm mod, there is no sim option to display.

install CWM and then back up your current firmware, then after that, you can install cm7 v.0.7 + hotfix5. if you don't like cm7, you can use CWM to restore back your current rom.

I already flash to new official JP8 ROM, seems that compass still not working. And GPS not working on my phone also. Luckily I found on website and flash the JP2 Baseband and Compass FIX, now working perfectly on my phone, compass and GPS working good. Now using Link 2 SD, already Install about 70 app and the rom still have 90MB. No lag at all.

I flash to JP2 just because my GPS cannot search satellite with stock ROM.

here is the file http://hotfile.com/dl/123810807/73dc3fe/shubh_JP2.tar.html

after that use odin one package to flash it.

ps: there is risk on flashing rom. So do it at your own risk.
