Some news to share

Bloomberg reports that Nikon is currently discussing with Notion Vtec the possibility of relocating some of the production from Sendai to Malaysia.

Back in January of 2010 Nikon made a major investment in Notion Vtec (Nikon acquired 10% of the company).

Notion Vtec produces the following SLR components (from their website):

   * Camera barrel is a component used for changing the focal length of the lens which is part of the zoom
   * Lens mounting ring is where the lens can be mounted on to camera body
   * An assortment of inner cam barrel for the camera lens as well as internal camera parts

Nikon plant in Sendai was closed a week ago after a massive earthquake and tsunami devastated the area. The factory in Sendai produced the high end Nikon DSLR cameras like the D700 and D3s.

I see, thanks for the reply bro. I have two questions, how's the sharpness of the 16-85 compared to the tokina 11-16? And is 16mm on DX wide enough for most weddings? hmm.gif
*
11-16 is one of the sharpest lens on DX as far as I know. where 16-85 is good also, but since the aperture is 3.5-5.6 it is quite hard for low light. anyway how is your 80-200? good?

Most likely more expensive, as it'll be sent back to Japan for probably-QC and/or packaging before sending back to Malaysia for distribution. Additional route than straight out from Japan.

Do we get cheaper Intel processor since Intel plant located at Penang? No, we don't.

I agree with you. I don't like the idea that they shift production. I have first experience with that in my current company. It's a non-electronics company mind you and yet the Malaysian factory gets crappy products out. Blame it on the sub-standard sub-suppliers. I don't know how companies like Intel does it but perhaps after a few years, they somehow manage to get good yield.

Agree on the ATX116 smile.gif price and IQ for DX UWA. it's great.
u got quite sharp eevn at edge compare to 10-24mm.

80-200mm are great budget telephoto zoom.
although some report about AF problem focusing at further or nearer subject at focal length
135mm and above on digital body, as it wasnt built from Digital in 1st place.
but the IQ if u got it right are great smile.gif
