10 meters!!??? Thats too far LOL!
Sob, then its not the lens for me, despite it being very poisonous.  cry.gif
I don't have many stage performances here and most of the stage performance here don't really allow cameras unless you're an OP.
So its either the 24Z or the 85Z. =)

Does anybody here have a link to the in depth review of the minolta 80-200mm f2.8 HS APO G? The reviews at dyxum are not really detailed (no kurtmunger, no shuttlebug, no photozone ~_~) How does it fare when its compared to the sony 70-200mm SSM?

10m is awesome when you have plenty of room to shoot candid moments with people not noticing you. Well, that's just me. laugh.gif

QUOTE(albnok @ Mar 28 2011, 12:55 PM)
fansoption: I like 30mm and 35mm on APS-C. Why worry about what I like? I like using the 30mm Macro on APS-C (or 50mm Macro on FF) more than a 90mm Macro. But why should what I like influence what you like?

24mm on APS-C is 35mm on FF. I do like how the Zeiss 24mm balances on my A55, but the focal length is very plain. Feels like a much wider 50mm on FF.

yuhi: The Minolta 80-200mm F2.8G HS APO is indeed nice, and a very fast screw-drive lens with powerful torque. It is not silent, though, and the minimum focus distance of 1.8 meters is a bit too long. I prefer how close the Sony gets at 1.2 meters.

Also, do you prefer 24mm or 85mm on APS-C? Do you intend to shoot tele or moderate wide?
*
Haha! I'm trying to take a bite out of everything really... I'm looking for a high quality low light prime which is wider than my 50mm to use indoors as well as a good portrait lens.
The portrait lens takes higher priority as I think that the CZ24 kinda overlaps with my 1680Z.
Despite it now having an advantage of 2-3 stops over my current 1680Z (worth getting now)thumbup.gif, rumours about the upcoming 16-50mm f2.8 Zeiss that is coming as a kit with the A77 will make owning a CZ24 kind of useless (for APSC owners) as the only advantage is the extra stop of light (Provided that the IQ of the 1650Z meets the high standards setted by the Zeiss Zooms). (makes the CZ24 not worth getting for APSC owners?) hmm.gif

10 meter is a lot of room LOL! Not really practical for normal outing with friends, indoors etc... I think its more of a event, wedding, stage, skodeng tool (proven fact) tongue.gif

if you're suitable with half body to head potrait --> go for 50mm f.14 biggrin.gif

if close up potrait --> 35mm/28mm/24mm

if full body better for 85 f1.4 / 85 f2.8 / 135 f2.8 / STF / 135 f1.8 nod.gif

if want combination of full body + close up/zoom in = 70 200 f2.8 thumbup.gif

if suddenly want macro can get TC for 70200 whistling.gif

mastering89: Oddly I go the opposite - wider angles for full-body and telephoto for closeup. Though wide-angle for closeup and telephoto for full-body is nice, too!

yuhi: Then the Sony 35mm F1.4G and Sigma 30mm F1.4 EX DC is just right for APS-C with enough light-gathering power.

Thanks for your suggestion guys. I think I'll wait it out. Haha! Wait till I see how a beast the a77 is going to be. Then I'll only buy a lens to accommodate it=] haha!

BINGO!i couldnt agree more thumbup.gif

i left my 70-200G at home when shooting weddings bcoz of the weight.i cant stand holding the lens all day long since weddings always be a tired day.using a monopod is not a good solution since its hard to move.so i bring along only the 85mm for the tele,as i can walk around for zooming!

but for other purpose such as sports, stage event and also some tight spaces, only i bring it! icon_idea.gif

that's the concept behind the fader ND - two polarizing filters
you'll probably get vignetting cause the CPL are too thick
