May i ask, i am a noob in OC.I tried to learn about OC now and did change some configuration in my bios.Ok, this is what i did.I change the CPU frequency from the original 200Mhz to maybe around 210Mhz (using Opteron 165).But when i try to push it higher than 210Mhz, it cant load the Windows. In fact, it keeps on restarting at the bios.

My question is, what might cause this problem to happen? What should i do next?Increase the voltage?Change the Ram setting?or any other area i should look at?

And, is it normal for a PC to start restarting at a mere 10Mhz OC?or this is because of a limitation of my own PC?My spec is Gigabyte K8N SLi, and Corsair PC3200 C2 Pro Led (3338).

hi, just need some opinion.

Im not exactly a oc noob. Maybe just lite oc fella. oc my sempron 2600+ socket a to 188 fsb ( and then lower to 180 bcoz cannot complete divx encoding), configure my KVR to 2.5-3-3-7, up volt cpu and mem, vga core and mem oc, that range of stuff i do. Just so u guys can expect what i know and what i dont.

ill be getting a c2d setup soon, what im asking is do u OC fellas, those who do the e6300 until 3ghz and above, leave on your system 24 hours for maybe few days? Is it advisable to 24/7 a OC'ed system that has acceptable temp range?

Thanks.

my P4 2.4C was running @ 3.4ghz for 24/7 since early 2004.. it almost 3 year already and still running like charm right nw..
my advise if u wanna run 'em for 24/7, find ur procs max speed while using default VCore, and use that setup..

I have heard.... no wait, actually I have seen myself! My friends who on their PC 24/7 for 1 year (non-OC). Then one day they shut down, and the PC refuse to start again. To me, I still think its best that you shutdown ur PC periodically after maybe 4-5days.

But if you still have to, then yes what newbieockids said is true. Use your procs default vCore... and also not forgetting sufficient cooling.

i ran my XP1700+ with more than 50% OC and vcores raised to 1.7 - 1.8 range for years and running 24/7 with 100% processing. no problem.

IMO it's all about how you take care of them and knowing your limits. smile.gif

Should i increase the voltage of my northbridge after doing some freak oc'ing on my Pentium D processor?

I oc'ed my Pentium D 945 to 4.25GHz, increased the vcore from 1.30volts to 1.31volts
Then the DDR2 800MHz overclocked to DDR2 1000MHz, increased the vdimm from 1.8Volts to 2.15Volts [Timing at 4-4-4-10]

My question is, should i increase the voltage of my northbridge? blink.gif

Need some professional's advise here... icon_question.gif
