I just recently change my processor to the AMD Opteron 165.I heard that the Opteron is quite a good OCer but i am a pure noob in term of OC.Can anyone give me some guidelines on where should i start and what i need?
I have read the first few post which was really helpful.Would those AMD64 OCing guide can still be applied to the Opteron?

Hi, i had recently tried to OC my Opty 165.I never tried OC before and had read several article posted in the first post to learn how to do so.Anyway, from what i learned, i could OC my proc simply by changing the Clock Frequency of my proc which is at default 200Mhz..
Anyway, there is a problem. When i pushed my Clock Frequency to 210Mhz, it already cant boot into windows.Keep on restarting. What might be the problem now? What else should i change in order to clock even higher? What might be holding my OC from going up?
This is my spec :
AMD Opteron 165 2 * 512 Corsair PC3200 Pro LED (3-3-3-8) Gigabyte K8N-SLI

May i ask, i am a noob in OC.I tried to learn about OC now and did change some configuration in my bios.Ok, this is what i did.I change the CPU frequency from the original 200Mhz to maybe around 210Mhz (using Opteron 165).But when i try to push it higher than 210Mhz, it cant load the Windows. In fact, it keeps on restarting at the bios.
My question is, what might cause this problem to happen? What should i do next?Increase the voltage?Change the Ram setting?or any other area i should look at?
And, is it normal for a PC to start restarting at a mere 10Mhz OC?or this is because of a limitation of my own PC?My spec is Gigabyte K8N SLi, and Corsair PC3200 C2 Pro Led (3338).

Need some guide here guys...
I always have an idea that OCing is about pushing your hardware to a higher point whereby it would be able to perform something faster..
Ok, here is the confusion for me.When i OC my processor (keep in mind that i am a noob in this), all i do is always pushing the Mhz to a higher number (by default is 200Mhz).Which means, the higher i push, the higher Ghz of proc speed i am going to get...For example, pushing it to 250Mhz..
Now, the problem is, i have seen people doing something rather different. They not only push the Mhz higher, they also push the multiplier to a lower level.Assuming the original is 9x multiplier and 200Mhz resulting in 1.8Ghz, i have seen people doing something like pushing the Mhz to 300 and lowering the multiplier to 6x which in the end, also resulting in 1.8Ghz...
Wat i wanted to know is, what difference actually does it make in doing that way?Is there alot of difference if compared to the original setting (9x, 200Mhz)?And what about comparing it with just pushing the Mhz higher (9x, 250Mhz = 2.25Ghz)?Thanks alot for clarifying my doubts here...
