Hi all renovation experts...

i have a problem...there seems to be a leakage somewhere and cause water bubbles appearing at the wall in my home...
until today, i have no idea where is the source of leakage...

anyone knows if there's any good solution to find the source? besides slowly hacking the wall?

thanks.

need to find the root cause fast, if the fungus grows alot, it will be hard to find. Usually it may due to water pressure to high and leak happens on the joints which are only glued. try to look at the top of the fungus area, it grows after the leakage. But it needs to hack the wall to fix this, no other solution i know of.

i agree you need to fix it. options that i can see:

1) hack open and follow piping until leak is found

2) terminate piping system (clear of water) and install new piping system.

if you want to get rid of glued connections on PVC piping you can explore the clamp system from buteline.com.my (got PE and PB piping with it). the clamp system is fantastic if its closed its closed for good. PB is also very very flexible - less headache i reckon. got it for the entire house (hot&cold water) and very happy with it.

I just fixed my water leaking problem from my house. Its a painful process.....
Just one advice, get the expert to do it. I was initially recommeded to get lousy vendor, end up he hack all over my house to find the source of leaking.

There may be few reason to happen, 1st, if th wall facing outsite, may be raining time only feeling wet. If the wall are facing toilet, then may be your toilet waterproofing system no good, If your house is condo, then may be leaking on the floor of toilet unit above will make your wall wet as well. and another posibility is leaking on your water piping.

Diff case have diff solution. advice you to ask contractor to see in the house, find out the problem, then u only can get a perfect solution on that.

I suspect it is coming from the burst piping... Cause when i off the main watee supply the leak stops...

Anyway... Just asking.... Is it possible for leak at ground floor and then the pressure push the water up to the pillar as high as 7ft?

Added on March 19, 2011, 12:12 pmall...found the source of leakage...it's a pinhole on the pipe and causing the water to pancut out in small volume....

it's not at the pipe joint area....

but along the straight line of the pipe....probably this is a defect from manufacturer and we fail to detect it when installing the pipe....sheesh....

I'm sorry to hear from your bad experience.

This is why I always have water pipes and electric wires not concealed inside the walls and floors.

I have a "flood" in my house due to incoming water from outside which was leaking. Upon seeing that, I have the water pipes to be seen from outside into inside of my house. For some, it's not looking nice and neat. But for maintenance wise, I rather stick with this kind of design rather than concealed.

My advise for you is to whack them off and place them outside where you can see. Although you might have renovated and now this kind of issue arise, you have no other options though.

Bare in mind that there will be other threats like termites if your house door frame or any woods get in contact to those waters. That will cost you even more then.

Sometimes I think it is down to luck also... water movement is a bit hard to predict and sometimes the spot water leaking may not be the exact source as it can flow from other place... in fact I have a friend with this issue and finally found out the leak comes from neighbour unit !

Try to get your original contractor as he will be familiar with the piping layout but else I think any contractor with good reputation should be fine... sometimes you need patience to hack the wall in different area to find the source of leak !

Worse advice ever..

Just bring in a plumber and ask him what is the problem..

Edit * Seriously you need an expert opinion and you can't get that from a forumer who doesn't visit the site..

Do you know that all services contractors normally test their work?

For water a standing 1-2 hour water pressure test is done after the job is complete to make sure there are no leaks..

Live and learn i guess..

yes... i know..

this defect only happens a few years after the renovation...the piping has a pinhole defect causing the issue...
