im kinda fed up with this whole bullshit internet providers in malaysia. Its f**** pathetic man..shit seriously.. evryone over here gets mad happy if they can get their latency to 200ms wtf? you call that good?
i dont know..if 200ms is the best that it gets over here in malaysia, than that just tells me, average is 300ms and it will get worse when ur raiding.
i use to play in the states at a latency of 70ms-80ms, and when it rains or whatver, the worst it get is up to 95ms or so, and after 1-2 hrs it dec. back.
and in the morning, i find my latency to be 40-45ms always.
im just fed up and angry and my country malaysia for being wack like this.. how can you arena seriously when ur lagging like that?..
im just asking all you guys out there.. anyone play WoW seriously? with a good latency? is there a way to bring down that 200ms lower? its just that, before iget back in WoW, i just wanna make sure everythings right you know?
thanks. and for background info, im living at pj, well established neighbourhood..i think..it should be lol..

(ps dont flame or get pissed..thers a fine line between causing an argument and speaking ur opinion, be civil. i dont care how good you are, and all your repo's, im just interested in your knowledge in this latency problems, thats all!..)
thank you.

err.. correct me if I'm wrong.

But isn't it a common knowledge that there is no way to go below 200ms for Wow US servers for players half way across the world?

This has nothing to do with malaysia/streamyx. Even if they give u really 100mbps line, live in menara telekom, ur dad is a PM or w/e, you are and will stuck in 200ms and above. Unless you create and build some super super cable that could transfer data half way across the world within 0.01seconds.

Live with it, be glad to get 200-300ms. I'm more than glad to play 200ms without lag or spikes. you only get 2 digit ms if u live near the servers. smile.gif

Raiding and ok, I don't pvp much but even if I do, latency was never the problem. Either I suck or that guy is really good. I only play arena for points, not top ladder. But this is based on my view only, I'm not speaking for whole malaysians tongue.gif And maybe because the fact I've never experienced 2 digit latency. I used to be able to play at 1k ms. Tthen slowly stable internet, I played average 500-800ms. Then now pampered with tunnels, I get constant 210-250ms. Asking me to go back 500ms is no way... HOW ON EARTH I EVER RAIDED WITH 500MS?! Nowadays I'll loose my mood or get sleepy if I see 500ms sad.gif )

Pretty much the only thing most malaysians rant about is the spikes or lags courtesy from our beloved streamyx smile.gif

sign up Wow Taiwan for lower latency.

There is an alliance guild that has a number of Malaysian plus other countries. They converse using English, and it is possible to play with english US client.

So far yet to see a Horde group for Wow Taiwan.

Latency is influenced by geographical distance to server and routing.

Even if you have the most optimised route to the servers, you won't be seeing anything less than three digit latency as the servers are halfway across the world. rolleyes.gif

There have been talks and rumors to localize wow servers in australia and singapore, and there's also this but so far these plans have not materialize as blizzard deems them too cost ineffective and inviable.

200 ms is very good for wow US, usually with tunneling services. But i doubt u can get 200ms consistently with wow US, u will usually get spike here and there, especially when dungeon / raid time.

Im sorry for u and i have been through the same dilemma as u. And nothing much u can do about it, maybe u want to try the Unifi service by TM.

To the TS, if u knew mandarin, one of the way is to go for wowtaiwan as suggested by Deimos, which i am getting 100 ms averagely.

WOWtaiwan is simply the Most cost effective and best latency for WOW in Malaysia

"As of July 2010, the 'official' definition of Broadband Internet (per the FCC) is '4Mbps downstream and 1Mbps upstream'. Anything lower than this is not 'officially' broadband." Maybe this is the reason?

does TM follow that definition?

don't think that rule apply to malaysia TM,
i mean, few years ago MCMC(Malaysian Communications And Multimedia Commission)
on newspaper acknowledge and comfirm TM is lagging behind "world standard"
and TM did nothing at that time, didn't think they even respond to that.

National Broadband Plan (United States) aim for 100 Mbit/s service,
while our National Broadband Initiative (Malaysia) got between 5 and 20 megabits per second(our "pride" HSBB service)

or there is nothing they can do about it,
i mean they don't like the rotten egg we throw at them everyday, flame/bombing their call-help services

they don't have enough fund
i mean malaysian RM is smaller now, thing are more expensive,
they always send expert in the field and send them to other country like korea, US, Eng, etc. see how other country works
(along with non related in the field but related in families to other country like korea, US, Eng, etc. see how other country landscape)

we(the whole world) live in a goblin world
anything is money,
you want better connection, more money.
want to live healthier, more money.

najib said we are going to be a developed country in newspaper
that mean we are on track,
but currently not yet(aka still lagging behind)
we are making move, replacing copper wire with fiber-optic
just we are not there(real HSBB) yet
(^ i said something good , ISA don't throw me ito cell please)

After playing both wow US and wow Taiwan,

QUOTE
The real fix for wow players to enjoy good latency in Malaysia is to play at wowtaiwan.

I understand the dilemma of many who dont understand mandarin, (which i do understand, but i prefer English, since that is what i am using daily, and having trouble interpreting Chinese words as fast as English).

What i am suggesting is, if we have enough of our own gamers even in wowtaiwan, the language problem will be minimize since gamers can actually get things accomplish without depending to PUG / trade. (English client to play wowtaiwan is one of the way)

That's sort like the project im working on with this guild in wowtaiwan. I'm trying to work on a English literate guild where even ppl who having problem with mandarin can actually enjoy wowtaiwan, with all its benefits (affordability and latency)
