1)Good things aint cheap, cheap things aint good

2)If want to mod, dun be afraid. If afraid, dun mod

I think should sticky these 2 quotes...just keep pounding into newbies heads smile.gif

I personally know many cars with blown engines and DSG due to our expert local "custom" tunes, personally i would not touch a "custom" tune with a 10feet pole. But i understand the attraction as they are way cheaper then the established brands, and the local tuners tend to be very smooth talkers (meaning good salesmen)

with the influx of new tsi and polo owners...theres this situation of many many new owners entering the VW scene for the first time, all are looking for the same things...extra power, mods, etc...and thers a whole industry of ppl springing up to cater to the new VW modders. Many will relearn lessons and mistakes that the 1st gen learnt years ago...but thats the way things are...the cycle will continue forever biggrin.gif

Anybody here remap scirocco / passat cc by APR ? pls advice...planning to remap very soon when can arrive
*
u dont need to find roc specific owners, its exactly the same as GB/engine as 2.0 GTI's so the experience is the same.

generally u will have
- smoother gearshifts
- increase of 30-45bhp
- increase in torque

Thanks brother ... this I imagine would be for the GTI right? If it is, maybe it's more expensive than normal due to the fact that they probably need to install some cruise control thingy in order to make the ECU upgrade function fully.
*
No. thats not how it works.

APR is always RM3980 for the stage 1 remap.

occasionally they have Sales, where you pay rm3980, but you get the full option package, ie anti theft, valet mode, ron50/97 map switching etc. which needs a cruise control stalk to activate

Ok thanks ... Read the APR website and I understand now. Pity GTI owners can't get the full option package.
*
u can..just need to install the cruise control stalk lor. its all installed, u just cant access it without the stalk. but trust me, you will never touch any of the options, too complicated.

at most u might use the 95/97 map

Yea, i agree with that too.
It's not like the ones in Audi.
Maybe because many ppl installed DRL on their headlamps with those cheapo LED strips.
The Golf's LED DRL looks similar to those LED strip.
I'm still happy with my 2010 GTI  tongue.gif

lol yes..exactly my thoughts.."it looks like it was installed in sunway"

yes..320i sales have been hurt badly by the GTI, BMW has been slashing prices of the base model 320i

dont drill.. just a strong double sided tape will do. Leave it stock  thumbup.gif
*
double sided tape will not work...no matter how strong and how much you put. trust me..i had it on 2 diffretn VW's, you can DIY drill it in...but the top screw is a real b****.

easier to go workshop pay rm50 get it done

how old is your car? pass 6 months it will squeek as it shifts around from your foot constantly stepping on it...pass 1 year the tape will be come dirty and disgusting as dirt and gunk starts sticking to it and losing elasticity

can the scirocco 1.4 rims fit the golf ? and vice versa ?
*
Fit=yes

whether u should..no/yes/doesnt really matter
- Wrong PCD
- VW sure make noise if u try to claim suspension warranty
- your speedo would be slightly off

Dear VW owners....

Have u guys change/installed ur stock car security system or any tracking device in ur car? does it got to do with the car warranty?
*
whalao eh..stop spending on mods and buy a better camera lar biggrin.gif

quick tip. if u intend to do ICE mods, invest in a plastic trim removal kit. its not expensive...about rm60-80 from online shops, and they work perfectly.

I got my set from ECS in US about rm120...but many diffrent sizes and i can remove the trim in a GTI in under 30sec whistling.gif

Hi Guys,

Just a quick update.  Just finished my 1st tank and went for refill.
FC = 10l per 100km.  I did 520kms with 20 km left to go.  Ron 97.
Mixed driving conditions but mostly heavy traffic (speed under 60 kmh).
Didn't go too heavy on the pedal except for a few short bursts  tongue.gif

A few things I noticed:-
- during initial acceleration, the FC can go as high as 30+l
- during heavy traffic (start-stop conditions), the FC ranges between 12 to 18l
- cruising at 90-100kmh, FC is prob the best at around 5 to 6l
- cruising at above 110kmh, FC is 7 to 8l

Just sharing  happy.gif
*
are u driving gti? dont use the FC indicator for current usage, as it will vary wildly based on accelerator pressure, use Avg. FC counter

Sorry guys, i OT abit.

AS some of u might know, i run a VW modshop, and currently in need of staff...so if u know anyone who would love to work with cars, VW mods, meet crazy modders etc, drop me a pm

details of the job is here

Ryous Modshop is Hiring!!

in rgds to the CTR...dun bother playing with them if u dont have at least a GTI with stage 1...u might be able to outrun them on the straights...but they will outcorner and out handle us everytime...

the golfs/rocs are just no match when it comes to the CTR handling

When on d mode , needed to wait for one or two sec for the car to move.. Izzit normal?? When on the slope how?? Some time the back car stick very near.. Which causes danger..
*
The DSG is in essence a manual car, drive it like one, practice safe driving habits, pull the handbrake on a slope. Press down hard on the brake to engage hill control

conclusion from the vid?
seems like FD2R long run will beat rocco.
*
conclusion = 0

start times were inconsistent, there was traffic on the road, both cars were seen braking for other traffic

also we dont know the state of tune of the 2 cars, are they both stock?

the only conclusion i would draw is that the car filming...would have eaten both the CTR and Roc biggrin.gif

btw...dun race on the roads lar...or at least go find road that has less traffic, sepang has open tract days every month if u really want to settle thses sort of things

Cause it's not my rims ... I share the OP's concerns that it might be an old set of rims.
*
to put things in perspective..if YR had not made the offer....and they swapped your rims without you knowing and just said they painted..would you have noticed the diffrence?
