Hmm.. jialat. i still haven't make any booking. As i want to know the malaysia spec 1st b4 decide polo gti or Golf TSi. JANUARY  sweat.gif  sweat.gif  cry.gif  cry.gif
*
i find it hard to understand how ppl can have tough time deciding betwen golf and Polo...they are such diffrent cars

Forgive my generalization

Polo is pocket rocket for single ppl who dun need the space and want to be "cool" the other is a larger, more sedate car for young couples or family with young children

Also...i would expect at least a 25-30k price gap between the 2 models.

any passat cc owners here?

went to the curve last sunday....sat in passat cc first, very very nice interior, nice seats.....

cant get any discount even for 2010 stock.....243k for a volkswagen is a bit steep although it is spec'ed much better than C class and 3 series.....
*
your thinking is very strange...you yourself said the VW is specced much better then C class and 3 series, why shouldnt it be 243k?

the Passat is CBU...both the merc and 3 series is CKD

The passat is higher spec, more powerful, and CBU, i think 243k is a bargain compared to the BMW and Merc equivalent

Wow the OSIR Zero looks good, will definitely put this on the buy list when I head to the US in July. Its cheaper there, USD24.95 only biggrin.gif
*
dont bother. it tarnishes very easy, and it only looks good in their pics. its actually very cheap looking and using crappy system of plastic tabs to push the actual remote buttons. I brought 1 in to display, after 1.5 years still no one buy, i gave it away

Sorry for the late reply..

Erk, i didnt topup to get those detroits.. Bought off from someone for about RM2k.. The Mk 5 ones I wud say

I got the RNS 510 from Jimmy @ cbx520p for 1800 SGD.. The LED ones, which is slightly more expensive then the conventional ones.. The GPS is kinda not accurate, Garmin is much better.. But I love the steering wheel integration and other stuff...

Have u got ur ride already?

@yan

Erk, do they charge for sierra glow maintenance? have to make appointment 1st or can just go to their shop?
*
RCD vs RNS, click here

see.. thats exactly what i wrote about the RNS, that its no point getting it over the RCD

have to make appointment for SG maintainence they are very very busy. My car is SG, yes i agree it makes it much easier to wash and get dirt off etc...but i prefer to be able to polish/wax my car once in a while.....i like the new polish wet look.

typical...want to drive twincharged car..but complain about FC.

You want to keep good FC? u will have to keep in the sweet spot of 2500-3500rpm, after that the turbo will kick in and your FC goes to hell

Dun start/stop, brake well in advance if u see traffic slowing down ahead, coast and then smoothly accelerate again

try for 1 week....make sure u do not pass 3500-3800rpm, always be in 7th gear and NO overtaking/braking/aggressive maneuvers

and btw..if u are a smooth driver should use ron97, the fuel savings can offset the cost of the more expensive petrol and u get a better drive

FC is almost always due to the right foot of driver, very rare to be the vehicles problem

Folks,

Looks likely that we will have other interesting discussions soon. Even they aren't hatch? ...

Passt and Polo Sedan
*
imo the polo sedan will kill insight,vious/city high spec. since its CKD AND a sedan, prices will most likely be under 100k

fyi, im having a poll to see what sort of Golf sill protectors to bring in...golf R, R-line or normal, so if u are a tsi owner and wants a pair, pop over and click on the poll

the 1.6 unit is a test mule, most likely will be stripped. Engineers here will see what parts can be CKD, etc

I am getting those with the S3 Suspension bush. All in all, meant to improve stability more instead of just lowering the car. Can't stand the amount of bodyroll from the car especially when cornering. The full setup should bring the ride comfort to about that of a GTI.
*
mavik, S3 bushes will make your ride harsher, something u might want to consider. Some ppl dun notice a diff, but it confirm will make your ride more niggly

advantage is much better power delivery to the ground, offset by the harsher ride. it will give marginal improvement to handling, stiffer steering thats about it

Hi All,

I've been following this thread for quite some time and have learnt a lot (both good and bad) from the sifus here  nod.gif

I just got my Golf 1.4 TSI last Friday and have been enjoying every single moment of it since.  Still getting use to some of the controls, especially the "creep" factor (which Paul Tan mentioned in his review).
Other than that, everything has been fine and dandy  rclxms.gif
I'll be sending the car for tinting next week and was recommended to stick to V-Kool Elite but I also heard that other brands like, Llumar and 3M are equally good (and perhaps cheaper).  Any opinions will be helpful.

By the way, I'm from JB.  Anyone in this forum also from JB?

My wishlist (in order of priority):-
1. Golf R LED tail lamps (my SA said he got kang tau to get it for RM4k + installation.  I think quite exp)
2. RCD 510 (still dunno where to get this.  maybe go up KL and look for jwrx/Ryou  smile.gif )
3. Bodykit

P.S. Mine has DRL

I understand how you feel.  It happens to me all the time.  Dunno why??  Wash & Wax car = RAIN  mad.gif
*
you need to trick the rain gods first...in morning, just spray water on the car..pretend to wash...after it pours in the afternoon..u wash your car for real biggrin.gif

if u are in JB, just got SG for VW parts, its cheaper, dun bother with your SA

Not wanting to rain on anyone's parade but isn't that a bit expensive? If I'm not mistaken, the Mk5 golf was like RM270k or something like that.
*
R32 mk5 was over 300k retail.

the MK6 Golf R is a much better car, and 295k is around the estimated premium u pay if u intend to be one of the 1st in msia to have one.

no reason the grey importer will sell it any lower, otherwise his AP is wasted, you can compare with other 2.0 grey import cars..ie A4 09 is about rm290k as well, so if u compare with the A4, its actually better value, cos u get a 2010 car, lower milege, much higher performance and go faster bits like the BBK

I estimate the price will go down to around 280k-290k within the next few months, but unlikely to go lower then that. Factor that affects Golf R value is its scarcity, if u go to UK sites like autocar and look for 2nd hand units, there are very very few, this affects supply and pushes up its price

i wish ppl would stop comparing car prices with overseas, yes we all KNOW its cheaper overseas..get over it

if i remember correctly it was around 315k...cant remember it was so long ago.

cos i have many frens in the grey import biz, and the margins arnt as super as ppl think...by the time u pay taxes, storage, shipping, AP (can be up to 35k) theres not that much left, especially if u picked the wrong model/colour and it sits in your yard depreciating. the real winners are the AP holders, damn leeches, even the gov only earns rm10k per AP starting from this year

VW has been saying it will bring in the R models for more then a year, still no definite price and ETA...but even if they do bring it in, i think it will be around the high 200's mark as well

wasnt refering to u btw wira..
