QUOTE(donhay @ May 11 2021, 03:40 PM) Planning to go Super Ceramic @ Jln Ipoh, KL to get some tiles for house. Thinking of 2'x1' Kimgres tiles (for bathrooms) For 2'x2' tiles (for living room floor) do you guys have any suggestion? budget around RM10 Thanks, much appreciated Actually..for bathroom if u can afford it bigger tiles mean lesser grout lines and lesser maintenance of cleaning said lines. And fewer grout lines mean lesser headache down the road w.r.t water seepage. Cheap tile can consider homa2u overstocks but limited range of colours.

Dear all,
I wish to ask for some guidance on tiles here.
I am planning to start some renovation, first time and I realized that there is quite a number of tiles brands.
May I know which brand would you recommend - mid-range will do.
I took note of those brands that have been recommended in the earlier posts.

If you think Msians are better, then hire him. Thereafter, is the Indon guy who is gonna do the work for him.

so my living area tiles came popping out after 10yr. (known issue of cost cutting sub con job) . of all time during EMCO, had to bear with it while removing broken/tilted tiles by myself. Juz had an indon worker came to have a look on it. better to redo the whole hall. according to him, the 'old' glue mixture need to be chiseled out first and then new cement layer will be poured over before any tiling job. area is around 500sq ft, a)can estimate of cost for this job? excluding tile and installing tile job b)any reliable online website to check estimate pricing of tile? c) i did ask if i opt for SPC flooring, the 'old' glue still need to be removed then only new cement layering job can be done. correct? so in a way, prep cost for tile and SPC is the same.. thank you This post has been edited by kucingfight: Aug 7 2021, 12:13 PM

Budget 1 : 1. Your existing tiles 2x2 is about 10+ per pc. If promo, can buy less than 10. China brands many promo in tile shops. Always remove old and lay new but do understand it can never be everything. Workers will remove as much possible.

Each tiles has different expansion rate. If not enough space, they push each other and popped up.

I was thinking of another option of doing spc flooring. Is it possible to juz remove the tiles and do cement layer leveling ( without hacking off the old glue)? Will it bond or cause other problems in future?

Such suggestion will increase the height of the affected flooring and create a step down to other areas not affected. Certain doors need to be change or reduce the length to accomodate the new floor height. This post has been edited by mini orchard: Aug 12 2021, 06:41 PM

SPC is 4mm. so, if you lay flat the cement about 5mm, it is about right.

I'm looking for a contractor to retile floor, bathroom walls, , kitchen and backyard. Some of my 2x2 ft floor tiles are coming off because the contractor 15 years ago tiled on top of the old terrazzo floor without hacking it. This seemed OK for a number of years, until I had to drill holes in the tiles for termite treatment a few years ago. The other thing that happened 2 years ago was my house got flooded and there was water under the tiles. Then the tiles started coming off a little by little and now I have large patches of tiles that are loose Anyone has reliable and affordable contractor recommendations? Nowadays, tiles on tile is not a problem. The mix i more like epoxy adhesive. Even my bathroom I had a tile directly on top of another tiles just to create a tile level height difference to keep the sink side dry and keep water from shower flows to drainage. This has been around 15 years already without any problem. I keep the splashing water from sower by putting shower curtain.
