Anyone finds effective solution in substantially reducing the road and tyre noise of our vios? My vios E's noisy cabin is driving me crazy.

Dun waste ur money. I have done RM2.1k sound proofing using dynamat on floor, door, little bit on dashboard, insuflex on wheel arch plastic... all uselss. Still a noisy car i ever had. If u wanna know does it helps... i would say yes but only about 10% reduction. Save it for ur next new ride.

How old is ur car vexus?

In my car, the damp smell sometimes comes from the aircon. Maybe it's due to the humid and hot weather that causes it to develop inside the car. My car also park in non shaded area at work.
To counter it, I buy a glade gel air fresh freshener. It works like a charm. thumbup.gif

you can try the new XM2, should be quieter than PS3, but damn expensive... same price with PS3 doh.gif

for quiet tires.. so far the best bet is CC5, because PLC no longer produced (not sure about this). XM1/2 too expensive for an entry-level tire.. PS3 is great, but noisy lar.. but still a lot better than NCT3/5.

i been thru several experience of sound proofing... just like enson1985, i did dynamat on my 1st car, and it cost more than 2.5K, it covered all including door, floor, roof, boot, fender and etc. not to mention with some superlon on top of dynamat on certain area, at the end, the result seems not satisfied also, it does improve, but not as much as i tot.

compare to my forum members who went to kl auto and spend similar budget as i, they got better result.

in conclusion, u need several material for sound proof, and dynamat aka those bitument stuff is only godd in prevent rattling noise at door, roof and bonet. if u like to boom boom ur ICE, u definitely need this, but dun over done on this thing, just spend the right amount will do, and spend ur other budget on auto foam (pillar package or comfort package), den must get the road buster things from kl auto, that "sanitary pad" works! even toyota prius having it, but kl auto version is even more suitable for our local road condition...

just feel free to drop by there, desmond is a good guy... be prepare to get poison...

btw to enson1985, if u manage to get 10% improvement, is a good result... for an example, imagine when u cruising and ur stock vehicle cabin noise is 75db, after SP is 67.5db, still not satisfy?... SP is not easy to achieve high improvement, and its expensive too, for me 10% will be happy enough and drive with biggrin.gif ...

Hi vios owners,

I plan change tyres for my TRD. Current stock tyre is 195/60/15. Is it recommend to go for 195/55 or 195/50? Any comment on this?

If I want to upgrade to 16" rim. Any recommended tyre size for this rim?

p/s: this Q might sound noobish.. But I appreciate the comments.

Vios is relative a noisy car, from tyre noise, wind noise to engine noise. All is below averange.
I think not easy for sound profing as originally is noisy, even u get the expexrt like Desmond from KL auto.
I did almost all sound proof except the engine bonnet, overall i still feel the car is noisy.

Guys, dont expect too much from vios becos through my experience of 3.5 years with my G spec i found this car is not worth the price we pay for, firstly the noise problem everyone is complaining, secondly, the parts quality is not as we guys expected, well i have change twice the front absorber twice the engine mounting, the air cond. compressor once, the lower arm both side n many complain about the timing i mean the rpm, my rpm is only 620 rpm with a/c on, but until today they still cant solve it until finally they told me its like that. All those mention change during warranty except the lower arm. How hassle is it to change the parts, the time wasted n going to the sc. Worst part is recently when i sat in my friend saga FL model, the saga is even more quiet than the vios.
