i heard ferodo bite but dusty. i got friend working at sparepart shop at klang. but i dont know whether u trust them or not.
or u can PM cheeann in LYN. his workshop at old klang road. last time i took ori brake pad from him and also do brake fluid change.
*
Yea actually I did try to do some research and try to shortlist some brake pads, I found that Bendix is also not bad but a lot of feedbacks that it is bad for the rotors in the future. Some are dusty while some when braking, there's some sort of sound or something like that. sweat.gif

So this is why I'm trying to look for the brand that manufactures the Toyota brake pads for Vios. What I like about the ori one is that it is actually quite quiet (based on my experience) and can hardly see any brake dusts (unless didn't bring the car for washing for a very long time). Braking power is decent enough for my driving style.

P/S: cheeann last active on 14th February 2011, I guess he is inactive already in this forum.

Have you tried the Bosch one yourself? If yes, how did it feel?

have been using it on my other car for quite a while.. similar performance, almost no dust.. that's why i suspect vios pad is from bosch.. last time the packaging is in yellow box, with 'Power Plus' label.. now the box is in blue and no more 'power plus', just Bosch.

Any noise when braking a little bit harder? I still remember there was once I went for an aftermarket brake pad from a workshop near my place (not a Vios though), after replacing it there's some sort of grunt sound when I brake a little harder. Was kinda annoyed with that. After driving the Vios, I really liked the feel of it (yes I know there are better brake pads out there with a better bite but I don't need so much bite based on my driving style, I just like the feel of the ori brake pads that came with it). laugh.gif

Thanks bro, you've been a great help! biggrin.gif

P/S: Otherwise I might just try the Bosch PowerPlus brake pads, it isn't really expensive so if I don't like it, not much damage done.

That's the whole point I'm asking if there are other alternatives since the ori brake pads from the SC will cost a bomb and at their price tag, might as well straight get something better already. So now I'm scouting around for options first before making a decision. Seems like the Bosch PowerPlus is one option.

No sound when braking hard. Trust me, the bosch pads behaves similar to the ori Vios pads.. they might be the same afterall biggrin.gif The best way to find out is to visit a reliable spart parts shop, ask them to take out Vios and Bosch pads together and compare.. if you can verify the vios pad is original, then get it if the price is much lower than the price at SC. bosch if i can recall correctly must be < RM100.. i've bought it a few times..

The 2nd option is bendix metal king. it wont produce so much dust but still dusty after 1 week of use, and can be noisy at times. Bosch (power plus) is the best balance between Price/Performance/Dust nod.gif the only bad thing about it is not all spare parts shop are selling it. I bought them at PH Auto, PJ.

You mean FL 07 or pre FL05?
Mine 05 changed to Pioneer cos those time Toyota gave cassette type wink.gif
Since mine E, it comes with a plastic to cover the hole which G don't have as its double DIN type originally. So have to source for that plastic cover.
BTW, the head unit wont be able to accommodate the frame of the head unit, so it wont looks good.

Regarding the brake pad, better get other alternatives if you are not getting it from the Toyota SC.

Last time my friend who working in a car shop told me that most of the car shop will give you a so called 'original' brake pad from Toyota if you request them to give you a original brake pad @@
