hello guys,

I'm doing a interest check if any of you folks interested in getting apple cables, such as minidisplay to DVI adapter, minidisplay to HDCP cable, minidisplay to VGA. As you probably knew, you could easily get them from applestore or premium retailers, with premium price of course.

I'm thinking to buy some from Monoprice, a very trusted brand with reputable products. Some of you may have heard about it. So I thought maybe I could organise a bulk or something, win-win situation for everyone.

So, if anyone is interested, please drop a message in my thread:
http://forum.lowyat.net/index.php?showtopic=1836113

Thanks peeps
*
im using a monoprice miniDP-to-HDMI adapter and it works great smile.gif all the best for the bulk, u can get really good offers buying bulk from them

Just got a new Macbook Pro. the thing is the battery capacity is 96%. Is it possible to change?Bought from online store btw
*
thats normal. it just means ur battery has been sitting around in the warehouse for a while, not fresh out from the manufacturing plant. dont worry about it

guys, i need some confirmation about something

my late 2008 15" MBP is still under ACPP and i want to claim a battery. my cycle count is 424 at 76% health. i dont really need it but might as well la right? tongue.gif

so that day i went to an apple authorized reseller (the only one in miri) but they say they need to send my MBP to KL in order to get a new battery, and this would take about 2 weeks. this is my only computer so that's out of the question

but they mentioned that if i can take my MBP to an apple premium reseller, they can change my battery on the spot. is this true? the nearest APR would be in brunei. i dont mind driving there but it'd certainly bum me out if suddenly they say they cant do it too

yup, the one with core 2 duo. come with stock 2gb ram
planning to get the 13" with 128gb.
well im not really concern with the storage since i could always plug in external hd.
just want to make sure if the mba would perform well enough for heavy stuff like using parrallel desktop.
any user with experience on this perhaps?
*
parallel desktop (win7) is pretty laggy with 2gb RAM on my MBP and i have a faster processor. not too laggy that it's annoying, but u do notice the performance go down lah. i highly suggest u upgrade to 4gb

bootcamp will be fine

QUOTE(milky @ Apr 24 2011, 05:23 PM)
guys MBA late 2010 is the MBA comes with facetime together?

QUOTE(c.sin.BB @ Apr 24 2011, 09:26 PM)
which software u guys suggest to run dual OS ? parallel ? bootcamp or others?

and if want to run dual OS , take i5 + 8GB ram or i7 4GB ram , which one is betterĀ  to run dual OS?
*
well parallel vs bootcamp depends on what u need. max performance is bootcamp, convenience is parallel. you CAN bootcamp 1st then use parallel to access the bootcamp system thru OSX, but in my experience (well, for fusion3 anyway) sometimes it messes up my bootcamp drivers. havent try parallel 6 yet

personally i'd go for i7 4gb RAM. 8gb is quite overkill unless u *know* u really need it. btw RAM can upgrade anytime later on smile.gif CPU cannot upgrade hehe

QUOTE(stereokumonomu @ Apr 24 2011, 09:41 PM)
but i thought the flashdrive on mba would be better in performance wasnt it? i mean, it is a ssd too, dont that counter the slower proc?
im sure i will upgrade the mba to 4gb as soon as i can. thanks!
*
well counter slower proc in terms of read/write only lah, not everything.

QUOTE(milky @ Apr 24 2011, 10:58 PM)
hmm if like that i need to pay 0.99 for the facetime apps? for my MBA?
*
yeap! btw anyone here really using facetime ka? any reason why should i move to facetime when i have skype?

yeap2, the RAM wont flush out immediately. but if another app requires more memory, then it'll get it

well as long as u dont feel any lag then should be ok lah, no need to worry smile.gif

hi guys, im a newbie in this osx world...i just bought mbp last wk...got 1 question for u guys...

Is it recommendable to partition my hdd just like we did in window so we can store our os & program in 1 partition and store our pictures, music and etc in another partition?
*
nope. it makes sense to store ur OS n program on an SSD n others on a separate HDD. partitioning is pretty useless

what i meant is the really free free apps... not that kind of "FREE"  tongue.gif

can tell me the real free stuff?

ppl already recommended you ntfs-3g to settle ur problem. if you've even googled about it you'd know it's already a free software doh.gif

hi. thanks. in the logins items tab only 2 applications ITunes helper and SIMBL agent.
my HDD 499.76G, used 23.33
available 476.43

any suggestions? thanks
*
googled a bit abt ur problem so i guess u can try this. apparently SIMBL uses a lot of virtual memory (can u verify this in activity monitor?) so u should uninstall it

go to http://www.culater.net/software/SIMBL/SIMBL.php and download SIMBL-0.9.9.zip (Snow Leopard and Leopard)

launch the installer and choose to uninstall SIMBL

apparently this works for some. i nvr did this so cant give u any guarantee tongue.gif at ur own risk. i dont have SIMBL running on my mac

@demonxyz Wait. June is around the corner already. Buy the mbp after Apple has announce the Lion. Even if the mbp you bought then comes preinstalled with snow leopard, IINM they'll give the Lion CD free with it.
*
probably still need to pay rm10 for delivery of the Lion DVD. that's what happened to the SL upgrade last time tongue.gif

Wanna ask you guys recently my relative planning to go usa for trip just thinkin ask help me buy the Macbook pro 15" i7 2.0 but from the price between US store($1799) & here MY(RM5499)also not much different.Question is the price between US purchase and MY purchase only different around RM300??
*
memang not much different one. plus if u buy there, u need to use an adapter for the charger, which would be quite a hassle. unless u buy the local charger, which would be more than just rm300 tongue.gif

is they such things as overcharged for mbp?

its like, when we keep the magsafe attached eventhough its already green and mbp fully charged.

will this harm the mbp in any way?
*
nope. when it's fully charged, the charger will stop charging the battery, and the mbp will directly run on AC.

when battery is at full charge, then u unplug the charger (meaning ur mbp will run on battery again), this obviously makes u use the battery A LOT. ur battery will die early

anything abt battery, please read this page. all u need to know is here: http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=1764220
