How to recalibrate the battery?
Battery loadcycles 228.
Maximum charge 1798mAh out of 4100mAh.
*
all u need to know about batteries is here: http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=1764220

anyway calibration is something u should do to maintain good battery health. it's not to make an already worn out battery good again. it's like servicing a car....u service properly often n ur engine will last longer. if ur engine is already bad, service everyday also no use ;p

not really, the 9400m and 320m were quite good, the reason for intel GC is because its integrated with the processor so they cant pair it with nvidia integrated GC due to a settlement between nvidia and intel.
*
i thought the dispute is already over. i rmember reading something about intel n nvidia agreeing to share certain tech between them

but yes, the SBs are already a CPU+GPU combo, so apple juz need a normal chipset instead of a chipset+GPU combo

nevermind, figured it out already. Finally Windows 7 Ultimate is running on my Mac.  rclxm9.gif

Just curious, I'm sure there are people using windows 7 on PD or VMware. How much RAM is your mac equipped?
Mine is running at 4GB and whenever i turn on PD and even without any program running in windows, it sucks a huge chunk of RAM out and leave less than 200mb free. sweat.gif

Would upgrading the RAM to 8GB helps?
*
good that it works hehe. im running win7 on vmware. i have 4gb RAM, n i set my win7 to use 2gb. smooth enough for me smile.gif

Hi guys,
I planning to get macbook pro 17"
I planning to configure my macbook to 8GB ram and anti-glare screen.
My question is should I upgrade my HDD to 128GB SSD?
*
no one can say if u should upgrade to 128gb SSD or not. different people have different usage. 128gb is too little for some, but some can get by it. how much space are u using on ur current computer? if u think u can manage having 128gb by offloading some less important files on an external HDD, then get the SSD

QUOTE(KKW @ Mar 3 2011, 02:03 PM)
Thanks for ur fast reply.
Waw.. now days ram getting cheaper  rclxms.gif
What ram are those which not more than RM 250? izit compatible with mac?
*
juz look for any 4gb ddr3 1333mhz RAM at normal computer shop. any RAM is compatible, but it's safer if u bring ur MBP n test it at the shop 1st. just in case

^ uh.... 1333mhz RAMs are 1333mhz full stop. is that what you're referring to by 'clocking speeds'?

im pretty sure apple uses the exact same stuff 3rd party RAM uses, at least certain brands. IINM they do use Micron chips, same as OWC. there are other chips as well, but never Hynix, which is kingston's

apple uses fujitsu n hitachi hard drives as well. are you going to say these drives are better than what you can get from normal PC shops because apple charge more?

QUOTE(hwa107 @ Mar 6 2011, 05:22 AM)
Hi guys,

I'm considering getting a MacBook, it's either Air or Pro. I am thinking of getting the 11" 128GB full spec (RM 4,356.00) as well as 13" 128GB full spec (RM 4,329.00), both around the same price, also considering MacBook Pro 13" 2.7 GHz default spec (RM 4,599.00) which slightly expensive a bit.

May I know which one is worth to get? My usage would be mostly casual use, not playing game, and portability is in the consideration.

Will the 11" too small for me? Or 13" is good to go? Should I get Pro instead? Will the Air too slow for me?

By the way, I would like to know if there is any way to save some cost for buying a MacBook, as I see from previous post that I can just upgrade the RAM my self, saving a lot of cost here. Other than that, what else I can do to save cost?

Thank you very much for kind suggestions.
*
11" or 13" i think no one can decide for you. visit an apple reseller and play with both models yourself. it's really ur own preference. just note that the 11" doesnt have an SD card slot

i dont think the 2.7 ghz MBP is a good choice, the 2.3 Ghz is already pretty fast. IMO, the RM900 difference is better spent on AppleCare Protection Plan

about being "too slow"...well u didnt provide much detail on what u're doing, but assuming by "casual use" u mean surfing, watching videos, light photo editing, then the Air (even the 1.4 Ghz) handles that no problem. we used to live in a day where the 'low end' computer cant do much. not anymore smile.gif

bottom line, since u probably dont need a fast processor, decide between the 11" 1.4Ghz 128GB Air or 13" 1.86Ghz 128GB Air. no need to upgrade anything except for the RAM.

hi all, just got my mbp few days ago was wondering weather mac has a picture viewer that has somehow similar function with window piture and fax viewer at Window.

the default pic preview at mac is good however it doesnt support flip to next or previous pic if you dont select.

any pro here got good suggestion?
*
i admit that's quite annoying. u can try Xee, it does have that previous/next thing, but there is something i hate about it. cant remember what haha. try for urself lah

nowadays i just use quicklook. change the folder view to list, select a photo, press spacebar, n press up or down arrow

hey guys... i just bought a MBA 11" 1.4/2gb ram.
I need to run win7 on this baby. What would be the best performance ? Running Parallels Desktop 6 or Bootcamp ?

Previously i was using a mbp 15"/4gb ram and found no issue running PD6. With this lesser powered MBA, i'm just wondering what would the best config be. tyvm.
*
boot camp for sure. even on my 2.4 Ghz C2D, running win7 in parallels with only 2gb is a bit laggy. needed to upgrade to 4gb

thanks guys...but will bootcamp take up more space thant virtual ? seeing i hav 128gb ssd to play with only..haha
*
they should take up about the same space. for virtual u need to install windows and the VM app itself. bootcamp need to install windows + drivers.

may i ask why do u need win7?

so now it seems i'll hav to install office both in bootcamp and also in mac...
*
if that software is heavy, then bootcamp is the way to go. so yeah, u'll need 2 copies of office sweat.gif

Grats. I got myself a free 50 AUD coupon for complaining as well. Courier service tried to sent my things 3 times and kept putting the not around card at my house while I am in the house. Couldnt stand any longer, called them up to get a  refund. But they delivered in the end, Apple said they'll give me a 50 AUD discount for the inconvenience. Woot. And i get the refund.

well any lock can be broken if someone tries hard enough tongue.gif better than nothing. or maybe u can buy a safe deposit box

i'd say the best kensington lock is the one that is easy to use for u, so that u'll actually use it. n try not to get ones with keys since a) u probably will lose it and b) u will probably keep a spare in ur room n the thief may find it.

im trying to google the one i bought but seems like targus isnt selling them anymore hehe

this one looks nice: http://www.targus.com/us/productdetail.aspx?sku=ASP29US

What is the best practice to pro-long your MBP battery life?

Is it a good idea to have the magsafe always plug in? There is a lot of school of thougths on this on the internet?

Any comments

then between ntfs-3g and tuxera, watz the main difference? hmm don't knw which to use for now
*
actually got a lot of differences, but the most important one (for me) is speed. ntfs-3g is slow as hell!

well im using paragon, but i think tuxera should be similar

QUOTE(thewayiam @ Mar 12 2011, 10:37 PM)
oh really?
i was wondering, if my mbp has any issues...where do i send it?
