'sup guys
i just got a 2009 macbook white that came with 10.5 leopard
wondering is it necessary to update snow leopard /lion version
pls tell me the "proper way" to obtain the OS too
*
proper way is you get the Snow Leopard Disk from stores.
then update it to 10.6.6 then purchase Lion from Mac App Store

5179 is quite low bro.
Original capacity is around 5700
Mine is currently at 5800, 3 charge cycle
I think you have to calibrate it

ceh...i also got... tongue.gif  tongue.gif

Do we need to do batt calibration per quote from mac support
honestly i dunno how to complete de calibration.. tongue.gif  tongue.gif
once my power charger kong for 2 weeks RMA, was thinking way better time to calibrate it
exhaust de batt on day 1...den can't on dy...but on day 14/15 when charger back, viola i put de charge on system back to the state like day 1 aka suspend mode her...i dunno  rclxub.gif  rclxub.gif  or  notworthy.gif  notworthy.gif
*
If youre planning to use it for a long time then it's better to calibrate.
Like my case, I change my mac every year so I don't bother calibrating

how did you manage to get both HDD and SSD installed at same time? would it affect the system performance?
*
It actually makes the performance better.
He use the ssd for OS and HDD for storage.
Removed the SuperDrive to pun in ssd

Apple Care won't check, but VR will.
important thing is that you already make a complain on Apple's side.

1333mhz should work (will auto-underclock) but if can get 1066mhz better lah. i'll recommend corsiar or mushkin
*
Don't think it will work, I remember reading a commment about the same thing.
He had to return the ram for the 1066mhz

Ssd does play a big part in performance.
That's why I decided to get the MBA 13" later this week.
For light users its good as they don't need much processing speed.
My current 13" i5 MBP is slow while running on Lion.
Disappointing

Im currently using the lion on my mbp 13' i5 . Surprisingly it still functions at almost the same speed running the previous os . just slightly slow .

Any one more , i read is some people facing their battery dropping fast . Mine seems pretty smooth actually .
*
did you fresh restore?
i did an upgrade and prior to updating, my laptop was only 2 weeks old

Wiser or not you have to judge yourself.
Ram upgrade is only RM 200
But ssd 120gb owc is already RM 600++

Hey, I am interested! But why OWC? Sounds like a dodgy brand unlike Crucial/Kingston.

I wanna change to 2 x 4.0GB on my Mid2009 unibody 15" 2.8GHz.
*
i heard that they're better than kingston and corsair thats why i wanna purchase

yeap OWC is the only one within that price range who would guarantee it'll work on a mac. those 'mac-compatible' ones like kingston KTA are pretty expensive, last i checked
just read through a few pages in this thread and this thread. should give u a good idea
oh i see. so can you easily eject / 'reconnect' (?) the drive in the optibay thing in disk utility?
*
do you think this is compatible?
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B002YUF8Z...m=ATVPDKIKX0DER

i saw pictures of it compatible with MBP 13" 2011 that customer posted up

Are you sure you can live with your new MBA 2011 with the current specs?

shud work great. im using corsair too. but i think cheaper to get locally
dudeeee ppl give u link then click on it lar +_+ the link IS where to buy
agreed. the i5 is really powerful already, plus can get it much earlier compared to CTO i7 one tongue.gif
well last time i bootcamp win7 ultimate 64-bit, installed drivers, already took about 14gb (i partitioned only 15gb hahaha need to redo). i would assume home basic would use less. better yet, just get the 32-bit version if u dun need 64-bit, it takes a lot less space

128gb should be fine
*
are you sure that its cheaper locally?
locally is around RM 250 isn't it?
