Nobody cares about the warranty, it's meaningless and unsatisfactory. It's better to prevent than asking for a warranty replacement (and charges).

not actually patches, once u updated, ur ps3 become 3.6version already

oO not patch lar is updates lar...

I think we can solve the problem by making it cooler from the beginning, not when YLOD strike. But I haven't seen anybody replacing their thermal paste and install better fan control (DIY manual/auto PWM fan controller) when they just bought the unit.

i thought open up the ps3 will increase the chances of kena YLOD?

[quote=shinchan^^,Apr 28 2011, 01:24 PM]
yea warranty void as soon as you open your new unit.

hmm it is quite true also, if changing the fan and all sort of those can lower down the chances affecting YLOD, i willing to void the warranty..

It is true. YLOD is the aftermath of overheating. I've been looking for 12/24VDC industrial grade fan/exhaust as part of my experiment for my dying PS3. All I can find is priced at >RM300. Will look for better & cheaper options.

I know in the end I still need to get a new PS3. Electronic components were not made to survive a lifetime. biggrin.gif

Just believe us that the ultimate solution for real YLOD is by replacing the mobo and it will cost u RM700++. getting new one is nuch better.

It is much easier if you trust our words. If you don't, just go ahead try the RM100 solution and tell us that we were wrong about it. biggrin.gif

P/S: Ask the RM100 solution providers if they can give like 3 months warranty. Their answers should be enough to help you making your decision.

Ok i not sure how would it be to fix it, coz i got 1 fat machine brought to fix and it still happened again, they provide 3 months warranty, not bad but the prob strike twice in the period of the warranty, so i juz bought a new 1, coz i fix it with RM200 of coz its not those cheap method of relowing, i took to reballing, i not sure did they do the reballing coz i heard reballing can last very long and i did some cheap reflowing method by using hairdryer and spoil my ps3, this is wat they said i dunno about much of it either, it might be true and it might be not, i heard some of the review from some of the lyn users said tat Tech-two provide good reballing service for PS3 but it is quite expensive Rm300 for 1 month warranty, anyway I hope tat someone can share their service experience from there. Btw i also heard tat reballing is not enugh, u also nid to fix the fan speed to maximum so tat i the soldering wont get off tat soon and also u cant upgrade the firmware. Once u upgrade the firmware, the speed of the fan will goes back to the default tat the firmware provided and I also heard tat Sony lower down the fanspeed to cause more YLOD, is juz I rumor but i believe it is true

I not sure bout it, but if someone reli desperate to save money and fix their PS3 can try on Tech-Two for RM300(1 month warranty) at Lowyat. I seriously hope someone can post review of their services.

For my case, it YLODs during the first few attempts to start the console. After that, it starts normally.

Any guesses on how long till it dies completely?

@cloudstrifes

its just a rumour..... why SONY wanna make PS3 easier to get YLOD by lower the fan speed? if many PS3 got YLOD sure they will lose their credibility and sales of PS3 console will drop....

hard to say as firmware is for everybody .. if Sony wants to do that, everybody's PS3 would have been drop dead. I remember my friend when I was working in Singapore, turns this PS3 to Sony centre. YLOD. Sony offered him a new PS3 for SGD 350.

when ever my brother plays gow3 my ps3 slim fan will bcome fast and 1 time after playing the console kenot shutdown when press the power button there is beeping sound. so i left the console on like 1 hour then can shut down is this a sign of ylod?

The fan kicks in high speed on gow3 only, other games no problem, my other games are mostly ssf4 and gt5 only.

Luckily yours can still be fixed with RM100. Mine, after I sent it with a forummer also he can't help to fix it.

I'm not a heavy gamer as I only switch it on occasionally to watch blu-ray, and it died on me when I try to switch it on a month back. It's not the first time it happened though, a few weeks when I just got it, the YLOD also came up, but was lucky it was still under warranty then.
