how to fix this? 1st time encountering this~ cry.gif  cry.gif
*
1st of all check with another phone whether your sim card have any problem or not.

QUOTE(sosot000 @ Apr 19 2011, 03:29 PM)
jus a silly question, whats ur expression bout MEEGO and NITdroid?  hmm.gif  which one better??  rclxub.gif
*
Let me you this 1st:
If you go to Honda Showroom & ask whether Toyota cars are better than Honda car, what will be the answer?

MeeGo is still development stage. If the developers still interested in developing the OS it can be something great.Android is good for average users but not for power users.
Don't consider Maemo as dead yet.We have just starting to unlock Maemo's full potential now.Try CSSU to get some updates that Nokia should have given for Maemo 5.

N900 don't have any official custom rom.We make our own custom OS based on our own experience of using this device.

BTW I did try E7 last week.I understand now why some people complain about the keyboard slide out.It is slightly different from usual keyboard slide out.

So syookkkkkk  tongue.gif
Not only the slide out that gets complain... the keyboard is not nice to type or use also. They say ergonomics and so on... N900 is way way better... The E7 is awkward to use, I tried typing, it's not easy, especially the side which is curved, kind of annoying.
*
My only complain is the curve out design. The keypad design itself is very well designed.

@mashimarow
Installing NITDroid is only hard for the 1st time.Like for my case I install NITDroid in my eMMC.After setting up the eMMC partition the rest is just copy paste command.
Usually I'll finish installating NITDroid in few minutes.

Looks well design, but when I use it, it's not what it seems. Maybe if you compared it to the N97, maybe yes?
*
N97's keypad abit crammed for me.
E7's keypad is really spacious so it was easy for me to type.I used it for about 1/2 hours.I kinda got used to the keypad after that.
N900's keypad is good but lack space in in between the keys.So people do make mistake while typing.

Nokia should have changed E7's curve design to N9's(the dead phone) flat keypad type.

Well,it seems as HTC will release a Green Robot phone with qwerty soon.
I'm gonna get it.
N900 will remain with me & that will be my Maemo/MeeGo device. There is no way I'll buy another experimental phone from Nokia again.

What about Droid 3? The leak pics, the keyboard looks kinda cool
*
I don't like their stupid policy on bootloader
Plus HTC have better track record on software support.

Comparing HTC's usual keypad & Motorola's keypad designs I'll say without no doubt HTC's keypad design is much better.
I like Desire Z / E7 type of keypad. It's spacious & keys are are properly "balanced"(I don't know how to put this in word actually laugh.gif)
Also I think if Motorola do want to make 5 row qwerty then they should have made Droid 3 as tilt slider like E7/Desire Z rather than normal slider.
It'll be much better in term of physical stability.

Avoid lower limit 125MHz.It'll make your phone less responsive after idle mode.

which means that i should set it as 250 to 1150?? and how about the battery consumption rate? should i use one of the profile from "lv, ulv, xlv, starving"??
*
Best clock setting id 500Mhz - 1150Mhz
Avoid starving since there are very few good badge of processor which are stable after OC.
Try loading ideal profile 1st.

HTC Doubleshot? Ok, will google it! Thanks.
I thought it was HTC 7, haha.. But, from your previous posts, I remember that you 'despised' Win7 mobile?

Sorry if I were wrong.
*
I generally dislike closed source OS (yes, that including regular Windows).
I believe no matter how much money Microsoft pour into Windows Phone 7/7.5 it can never be the best all rounder mobile OS.

Open source OS can progress further due to a lot more creative ideas given by users/developers.
If MeeGo given proper financial & developer support I think it'll be a better choice for primary OS over Windows Phone 7.

QUOTE(sosot000 @ Apr 27 2011, 04:32 PM)
now was running OC at 125-850Mhz with "lv" sumthing (my fren OC for me), everything seems stable... jus wonder can it goes further ahead. nvr experience delay tho.
*
Sure. You can use ULV/XLV profile & OC up to 1150MHz.You'll notice better response in gaming if you OC up to 1150MHz.

So, I have an issue. I just had my whole motherboard changed and I just updated to PR1.3 since it's on PR1.2. And now when I want to install apps, hell it takes ages to load. Same thing occur in Faster Application Manager. So, is it my phones problem? Firmware issue? Or what?

Thanks.

Hello guys, Mind if I ask a few questions?

I've successfully installed Nitdroid onto my MicroSD card on my N900 by following the frontpage instructions, it works!  thumbup.gif

but the problem is that I cant complete step 11 which is : Type “dpkg -i /home/user/MyDocs/.nitdroid/multiboot-kernel-power_0.3_armel.deb”
and now when I restart my N900, and shows the boot menu, it shows only : "Maemo 5 omap" & "Nitdroid" but no "Maemo 5 linux v4X"
how do I solve this?  icon_question.gif

another problem is that Nitdroid cant seem to pick up and connect to WiFi networks?

Can you guys help me? Thanks in advance!  notworthy.gif

Try this in terminal:

apt-get install --reinstall kernel-power kernel-power-flasher
apt-get install --reinstall kernel-power-bootimg kernel-power-modules
apt-get install --reinstall multiboot-kernel-power

QUOTE(retro_rave @ May 4 2011, 12:36 AM)
jez a suggestion... when i first got my unit, i bricked it within few hours after i got it in my hand. tried maemo flasher, it didnt help. then i use the normal method to reflash nokia fon... download reinstalled the firmware using Phoenix software with "dead usb" option.

i know most people say that this software wont work for maemo, but it does perfectly for me. revived my fon in 10 mins.
*
I don't know much about the Pheonix. Not much of Symbian user before.
Maemo flasher is fairly easy tool to use IF you know the correct commands. It's always when users messed the commands or downloaded corrupted/wrong firmware files trouble start to appear.
If you really want to mess with your N900 I suggest you guys to learn the basic with Maemo Flasher Tools.
Believe me this flasher tool is godsend for mobile OS.It's very easy to rescue bricked Maemo device with this tool but it's far harder to rescue bricked Android/iOS device.

Use the default backup application.Choose the save location to your microSD.If you don't have microSD card then save to MyDocs aka interlnal memory & copy the files to your computer.

Lately I've been using my N900 almost entirely in potrait mode.Almost every functions working well in potrait mode except default media player (M.AG's Open Media player will sort this soon) & desktop.I've been messing around with the hildon files to make potrait desktop but I don't think simple rotation will do the job.The widgets, shortcuts & everything else need to rearrange rather than rotate. Most probably you'll need hildon desktop to remember 2 settings for desktop in order for this to work.

I'll be finishing my last exam tomorrow after that it's extensive app testing time biggrin.gif
Plan to test MeeGo developer edition. Most probably will take another shot with u-boot.
Like other NITDroid enthusiast out there I would like to see NITDroid booting with uboot but I kinda remember that eyes said current kernel/boot solution of NITDroid don't support u-boot.
@one1002,you have any idea on this?

After all this testing most probably I'll end up a clean reflash back.

Added on May 10, 2011, 2:10 amSeems like some people in LYN managed to get their SGS II? RM2.7K for AP set... As I expected they complain about the battery life. Also there is no LED indicator doh.gif

Personally I don't think I'll ever buy a phone without the LED indicator after this.

Added on May 10, 2011, 2:31 amAnother update on the NITDroid with u-boot
As I expected eyes had pretty much same problem as me.No idea on how the kernel to be deployed.
