nice..btw in front page the installation is for v0.0.9 right
so if i wanna install v11 i just follow the steps in Here right?
no need to install v0.0.9 first?

also i dloaded this custom eMMC "EMMC By.MiDO.FaYad.8.giga.7z" but it's an image file
how to use it?

*finally got time to learn all these* biggrin.gif
*
Frontpage nitdroid is outdated a bit.I'll update the version soon. You can download the latest version of nitdroid yourself from forum.nitdroid.com.Same installation steps as in frontpage.

Do I need to register my name anywhere to put myself in this group? biggrin.gif

BTW, anyone uses Foursquare here? What app do you use?? Barriosquare somehow checks me in with [off the grid] and won't post to my Twitter account.
*

Just tried Nelisquare. It's not that full-featured but better than nothing. And it's in Extra-Devels repo.
In landscape, you can't see all the in-app options such as Friends, Places, To-Do, Myself. Viewing of profile does not allow you to check details of Badges, Checkins and Mayorship. So, live with it or still use an iOS/Android/Symbian device to check in. I have E90/iPad to checkin instead of N900. smile.gif
*
Nelisquare still in development.Expect changes soon.

iOS's Safari sucks man..Typing with vkb is tiring doh.gif

Super Evil Alien,

Do add me into the owner's list too please.  smile.gif

Will do so soon.

Offtopic: Bought Nokia X3-02 for my father.I have to say for it's price this phone sure worth it.Got all kind of connection method, decent performance plus USB OTG!(Take that iPhone/iPad/iPhone Touch!)
If only Nokia can make high end phone like this,sigh....

I had successfully flash Nitdroid and boot into a gingerbread 2.3.4.
However, my phone now stuck at Nokia Logo, the screen goes black after that. I cannot boot into multiple boot loader.

Probably because Meego 1.2 still have lots of bugs. Check their log page and you can see so many issues. doh.gif Nokia has the advantage too if you're speaking of standardized processor. tongue.gif ARM 11 in all Symbian devices. doh.gif

Added on June 1, 2011, 10:03 pm
Yeah, hahah, most probably soft-reboot. biggrin.gif

From my observation only handset version still have issues with basic functions.IMHO it's probably because lack of software contribution support from Nokia.

Guessing the same thing. Cause Acer just released a Meego Tablet which looks pretty much like Acer Iconia Tab but powered by Meego.
That means Tablet version of the software might have pretty much been fully developed for stable released for consumer usage. >.<

I want to look at mobile phone. >.<
*
Tablet & Netbook OS is pretty much ready to rock & roll. But there are still plenty of additional feature planned for the tablet & netbook OS.

Somehow I feel like things are looking up a bit for MeeGo.Acer & Asus released prototypes & committed release date for MeeGo based product, companies like Samsung & few others interested in developing prototypes & LG more or less became Intel's partner for handset version.

Mobile OS seems a bit crowded these days but competitions always good for end users isn't it? smile.gif

For me if combination of MeeGo & Intel Atom brings huge power consumption difference then it'll be in great position in sale.
Personally for me I want my phone battery to last 1 day with super heavy use or 5 days on standby.
Smartphones has come a long way since the Nokia Communicator days but 1 thing I don't see much improvement is the battery consumption section.
No matter what OS you use battery consumptions don't really improve that much.So I think a change in hardware section is necessary.

Help.. Got problem with my Nitdroid again.. T__T
I uninstalled my old Nitdroid and installed the new N12 by following the below instructions :
http://wiki.maemo.org/Nitdroid_easy_instal...lean_install.29
under the heading : Installing NITDroid N12 to EMMC (clean install)

everything works find.. except for the multiboot part....
It doesnt show my Kernel Power again!
I tried the Frontpage way of apt-get kernel-power kernel-power-flasher and modules, in XTerm, but it says it's already the latest up to date version?

Anyway to solve this?
*
Type the following in terminal with root access :

CODE
apt-get install kernel-power-bootimg
apt-get install --reinstall multiboot-kernel-power

Actually I don't get your problem.
Is kernel power v47 not appearing in multiboot option? How about NITDroid?

http://blog.gsmarena.com/pink-nokia-n8-mak...deo-with-dolls/

Feel kinda sad that Nokia made this kind of pathetic phone.
Seriously, they don't have anything better to do then making a girly phone & making a video on how they they made the promotion video?

Yes.Installation instructions are in frontpage

i turned off all connectivity. network mode set to GSM (2.5). i think retro_rave got it right. there's some internal application draining my battery. i just dont know what and how to stop it.

Format both root & eMMC & disable auto wifi/3g connection

QUOTE(V429 @ Jun 7 2011, 11:14 PM)
yup. using old 32 bit Window XP.

Added on June 8, 2011, 1:28 amGuys! I successfully re-flashed my N900!!!  biggrin.gif

Turns out the culprit was that
1: I miss-typed a single letter in the command (typed o instead of 0)
2: My PC doesnt have the Nokia USB flashing driver, and connectivity driver thingy installed, thus Windows did not recognized N900 as being connected.

Too me awhile to google for those files and to find instructions and clues at other forums. but in the end I did it!!!
I reflashed my N900!!!

Sorry for me being over-excited about this simple little thing, but this is a big thing for me to be able to revive my own phone. There's nothing like getting your hands dirty to fix your own gadgets. haha.. and it feels great to have my N900 back again!  smile.gif

Now to restore the last backup files..  laugh.gif
*
IMHO you don't need to flash your device for his problem.
You could have removed kernel power v47 & NITDroid then reinstall from scratch again.
v47 do have minor issue with multiboot.

QUOTE(vaizard @ Jun 9 2011, 08:09 PM)
bro...how u update to power kernel v47?
*
Use AppManager ot FAPMan.

QUOTE(hengguowei @ Jun 13 2011, 12:22 PM)
Symbian will work too but not recommended cause the data connection connectes continuously draining battery. =.=
*
Whatsapp users are stingy users.

QUOTE(Bushido @ Jun 13 2011, 02:03 PM)
You mean we can install Whatsapp for Symbian on our N900?
*
Good luck porting Symbian app to Maemo.Providing the API's are similar & you get permission from the app writer.

QUOTE(Eiraku @ Jun 13 2011, 02:24 PM)
I have, and you know what happened afterwards. At least the vets over here know lol.

Good luck overclocking. Just don't get to stingy with the voltage, your CPU might be fine with it, your flash chip might not.
*
As I said long time ago, some good batches of processor have better OC capability then regular batches of processors. There are some bad batches of processors too.For those who have sudden reboot problem after OC,your phone processor could belong to this category.

I'm still running my phone in 600MHz & still rocking Asphalt5.

Attached Image

Now N900 is sorta recognized as Android device

Bro, was away for the whole day. To flashing the kernel means reformat the whole phone right? I want to download the firmware file, but I cant access my phone and thus dont have serial number. Can you send me the file?  sad.gif
*
No.The command will only reflash kernel file.BTW are you using kernel power?

I don't have any other link for the firmware file. You have to download from maemo site as given from frontpage.
Just press *#06# in phone dial & the imei should come up & enter the code in that site.

Steps are pretty simple:
Follow Manual Update A but in step 10 instead of typing

CODE
flasher-3.5.exe -F R.bin -f -R

type the following

CODE
[/CODE]flasher-3.5 -F R.bin --flash-only=kernel -f -R[CODE]

Simply put kernel power adds some functions.

Assuming your phone boot up nothing will be lost.

Don't remember that.
If you're using Windows Vista/7 go to control panel->devices & printers
Check whether there's N900(Update Mode)

QUOTE(mashimarow @ Jun 15 2011, 10:20 PM)
only workable if you have pc on hand, if you only got the phone and want to do some file shifting or editing some config, filebox still the best

Till now I never used filebox to move files.
I prefer terminal & WinSCP

excuse me, but does anybody know what happened to the application "Preenv"? I tried installing via apt-get, but it says package not found. I did activate those extras repositories..
also cant find it via application manager..
weird..
*
http://maemo.org/packages/view/preenv/
It's there.
Type "apt-get update" & retry installing preenv

NITDroid definitely worth playing around for average users.MeeGo not yet.

Milestone 3...Looks nice...
Especially when rumored HTC Doubleshot aka MyTouch 4G looks ugly.
