got a palm pre3 to play around webos for the last 2,3 weeks.

browser - n900 wins hands down up and down again.
email - pre3 loading a bit faster. prolly if i overclock n900 a bit more it would be on par.
root access - yes to both. n900 gui xterm is better though.
UI - webos card is nice and the swipe gesture works.
one hand sms/surf etc - palm strong suit. slide to answer call etc.
keyboard - quite nice. one hand palm wins, two hand n900 wins by small margin.
skype - voice and video call works. even.
camera - gahahahaha nokia know-how in camera is real. n900 wins hands down up down and up again.
community support - even. strong community support.
sync - webos is bit peculiar. you cant sync direct. its from mobile-google-mobile or outlook-csv-google-webos sync/synergy.
whatsapp - gah yappari is still behind mojowhatsup for webos

maybe will write more, after upgrade firmware to 2.2.4, patch from preware and stuff, it is stable, fast, good multi tasking and good battery life.

Nothing much. Guess I should do a lot of talking now.

Also, new apps for N900 are now on the rise thanks to them running a developers' program - we now have a much more decent Facebook app (Kasvopus) and Twitter app (TwimGo3) thanks to www.substanceofcode.com

More new app developments are going on in TMO in preparation for the release of Qt 5 which will subsequently be used by Jolla which will make new devices for people like us N900 users thumbup.gif

Oh, and CSSU now has a new branch - enter CSSU-Thumb2. To explain it will be too TL;DR, just go and read the first post wink.gif (Basically, less RAM usage.)

And that's just tip of the iceberg.

Also I've downloaded and installed this week's Nemo Mobile on my MicroSD card, though it is by no means for everyday use wink.gif just to play-play around, kind of test drive only. At least I can make and receive calls. Definitively a platform you'd better be off developing and testing software on hardware with, and this is by no means an upgrade to our Maemo, bear that in mind.

Kasvopus has gone quite some way from that I guess. Only bugger is notifications not working yet. Otherwise it's a keeper for me.

Nemo's platform is still not mature for normal user use, and was never intended to. Even as a tester who knows at least how to get around things to get them to work, the most I've accomplished so far in making it "usable" is being able to make and receive calls and SMS. Even then those functions are working in it's most frugal form (you know, the basic "dial the number" work) and are by no means complete. Also note my quotes in bold, I'll say that again just in case you skipped it:

Also, they're not using DEB, so you can't take DEBs meant for Maemo (or Meego Harmattan) and use it there. They use RPM instead, and uses zypper as their equivalent to Maemo's apt-get. Pretty much what you can get in Meego Netbooks.

... In the meantime, I've given up on Yappari because LOLWhatsApp does not let me register in anywhere else except their official client, which cannot be installed on the N900 (at least natively. I don't want to go so far-far only to get that one stuff working). What weirds me out even more about them is that they can make it for Symbian S60!! So in the end my sister who's using an N97 Mini can use it, while I just nganga only. Bah!!!

N97 mini nice phone .
I know about nemo , long time ago I did tried and reported some bug at bugzilla ..
Kasvopus , still unable to make it work, doesn't matter. I'll use the default web browser to surf facebook.
S60 more user than maemo and meego right...

Because S60 has more devices than Maemo and Meego. Presumably there was supposed to be more Maemo/Meego devices but thanks to Nokia's attitude...

It's all done by nokia , what to do , as a end user , we've no choice , we can't do anything to change the fact.

wonder jolla mobile will have after sales support in malaysia or not .
They're going to release their first flagship device on next month.
still don't have any news or photos regarding to their meego OS.

No, no, they're not going to release the device. Too soon for that.

What they're going to do next month is show the software first. Kind of a demo of how Sailfish (Jolla OS) will look like and function. Not device. They'll announce expected device availability much later.

Not much I guess, now you can somehow run android applications on N900

http://wiki.maemo.org/Apkenv

I really feel like picking an Android right now but at the same time want to wait for Jolla.. hmm.gif
