QUOTE(Andy214 @ Jun 21 2011, 12:13 PM) No hardware keyboard.... Specs don't bother me much but the lack of physical keyboard is real disappointment.Specs looks outdated... ARM Cortex-A8 OMAP3630 1 Ghz, PowerVRSGX530 Seems no mentioned about ram, probably 512MB? http://press.nokia.com/wp-content/uploads/...-data-sheet.pdf I wonder who are the targeted market? I wonder how many hardcore N900 which choose N900 because of it's speciality, will be impressed with N9? I'm sure number of N900 users will keep using their current phone. Added on June 21, 2011, 12:51 pmOh & btw forget about Android port in N9 unless Google really removed physical buttons functionality in Android 2.4 This post has been edited by super_evil_alien: Jun 21 2011, 12:51 PM |

QUOTE(Andy214 @ Jun 21 2011, 03:11 PM) Let's hope so... But, it there is, I doubt the developer version is available for Malaysian market. Well see how things goes...True, the keyboard is the biggest turn-off. Though specs is kind of important as you need at least more than recommended specs or a good spec for proper heavy multi-tasking; As with the N900, I think we all know the experience and feeling. Nonetheless, it's still a good device and there no a device that's comparable; If there is, then it'll be different story. Another thing I hope is it'll be able to render/play HD videos or even Full HD, but looking at the specs, probably just HD. As with the N900 now, we're limited, can't even play 480p. Back when it's still new, it's still ok, but nowadays, you often see higher quality/resolution as standard. Soon, it'll be even more common thing. Anyway, I don't think it's worth selling the N900; Just whether how long it can last OR keep up with the demand as nowadays, there're so many things available and there isn't much new things or support for those new things on the N900. We're far behind, but when N900 was first launch, we're far in front. Added on June 21, 2011, 3:30 pmhttp://www.gsmarena.com/nokia_n9_announced_based_on_the_meego_platform-news-2805.php N9 announced.... I thing I just notice... no homescreen/Desktop??? Why does it feel more like the fruit? One UI is all icons and it's in 1 page, imagine if you install tons of appplications.... No adobe Flash support. 1080p was introduced before N900 was introduced so yes,in a way we was behind, But so far the is no other format or planned format which is advanced than current 1080p.This spec should be enough to hold for while (a short while) Anyway N950 has been confirmed.Hardware spec lower than N9,no warranty or support but with QWERTY keyboard. No matter what you have to say Nokia knows how to design phone better than other For me because of lack of physical qwerty phones in market I'm embracing the thought of buying a full touch phone.N9 now certainty in my thought now... QUOTE(hengguowei @ Jun 21 2011, 04:06 PM) I think soon. |

QUOTE(Andy214 @ Jun 21 2011, 05:37 PM) Can mer? Can't wor, I even tried over-clocking and play using mplayer. Maybe the bitrate/quality different? Lulz...I hacked my phone so much that it barely look like original Maemo bloodline? I don't see any wor. No Desktop. I don't see homescreen as well, feels like iFruit. Icon looks like Symbian Anna. Colour is white/gray; Maemo has this cool black and glowing blue trademark, which makes it really cool. When you first boot up Maemo for the first time to set the settings (clock, region, etc), it's already sooooo coool, standing out from the rest of the mobile phone OS. I don't see where is the similarities with Maemo. As with the design, I don't see the similarities of bloodlines from N900, probably bloodlines from N8, while N950 from E7 (which also bloodlines from N8). The closest design to N900 was probably the Motorola Milestone/Droid, and you can see, up till the 3rd generation, it still retain it's look, it's bloodlines. I think aside from Nokia word on the case there is no other Nokia word in my phone.Even boot video don't have "Nokia".I changed everything somewhere in last year after pissed with Nokia over crappy software support. @N900rocks Did you use aircrack with kernel power v47? |

QUOTE(Andy214 @ Jun 21 2011, 06:06 PM) LoL; Actually aside from the Nokia word, the Maemo OS feel totally doesn't feel Nokia, as Nokia is usually known for their Symbian OS; You show to people, they wouldn't know it's a Nokia until they see the branding on the phone. I have few people interested people asked me, Nokia got such phone??? This one really not something that is common for Nokia. This is ok.Got people asked me : "Is this China phone?" QUOTE(N900rocks @ Jun 21 2011, 06:17 PM) it show me .... !!!Linux kernel for power user(boot image) breaks the 3rd party package policy whats wrong? Normal warning. Most probably because of the i2ctool.Go ahead & install it. |

QUOTE(N900rocks @ Jun 21 2011, 09:13 PM) @sifu! it doesn't allowed me to install it. it only showed me the details so i have no choice except tap the scree. (which mean exist the install) so it bac to update agn... =( btw, does aircrack-ng can crack wpa?? and we have to be fairy near to the wifi point?? my way to crack wep is PM one1002 for more info on this stuff. He's the resident network penetration expert here.sudo gainroot ifconfig wlan0 down iwconfig wlan0 mode monitor ifconfig wlan0 up airodump-ng wlan0 after dapat the bssid and channel, then airodump-ng --channel 1 --bssid 00:xxxxxx -w work --ivs wlan0 after get all the data and ivs, then aircrack-ng work*.ivs then it start cracking the passwords.. my question is...i did cracked my own wifi, when im in shopping mall today, i tried to crack others but i failed to do it, the first time, it asks me to make it 5000ivs, 2nd when i got 6000+ivs, i tried agn and failed agn. it asks me to make it 10000 ivs....it was a wep. do i have to super near to the wifi ?? QUOTE(goldfries @ Jun 22 2011, 02:21 AM) N9 flash player no update alone sucks already. even the images aren't in folders. the picture viewer shows EVERYTHING. There won't be flash support in N9.i hope i don't face this problem with N9, really looking forward for N900 replacement. Reason : Nokia is too cheap to pay for the licensing fee. |

Nokia shares up
Quite a lot of end users like N9 Some Maemo users like N9 Majority of review site like N9.Endgadget called it damn fine smartphone with some very neat ideas.Even Eldar got some some nice words for N9. Some developers expressed interest in N9. Seriously why dump MeeGo,Nokia? |

QUOTE(zero_kbom @ Jun 23 2011, 12:28 AM) Oops sorry, my mistake Seeing from regular end user point of view,N9 is certainly good in both hardware & software(yes the processor is dated but it's still packs 1GHz clock speed)+1 Comparing Meego with Maemo 5, heck even Maemo 4, the customization is really limited. But seeing the OS as a new kid in the block, man, it can be a serious competitor! Anyway, did anyone have a screen shot at Harmattan/ Meego App Manager? Really hope Nokia still keep the repo system here. And does anyone know the availability of terminal app here? I can live with any compromise except this. Most sought app for N9? IMHO: Rootsh Even Engadget love the phone a lot - http://www.engadget.com/2011/06/22/editori...not-be-serious/ I only think about the terminal after you mentioned it.So far I haven't see terminal shortcut in any pictures. But I think N950 will surely have it. Using terminal without rootsh? Better just remove the terminal like that |

DDOS attack won't cause too much damage.Heard some hackers targeting TM these few days try to bring it down, well...I would say without hackers, the line also down from time to time QUOTE(Orz @ Jun 25 2011, 12:53 AM) I tried at other wifi spots or friend's house .. also the same. Connect to WiFiBut I am able to surf the internet with WiFi, just can't use App Manager with WiFi But cellular broadband works fine Open terminal Type "ifconfig" Check whether you're assigned IP address 1st. QUOTE(milolauda @ Jun 25 2011, 09:17 AM) wat is the current price of a Good Quality Used set in the market now? is it okay to get an overclocked set as it might weakened the processor with constant excess heat builtup on the cores? Your best option is buying the phone from the beginner user. They wouldn't tempered much with their phone. You should be able to get this phone from RM700+But remember, you better be prepared to thinker with this phone if you want extra functions. There won't be any official support. |

QUOTE(hengguowei @ Jun 29 2011, 08:55 AM) Nitdroid is stable but about calls and messaging, I'm not sure. Haven't tried for some time. Only installation part is bit tricky with MeeGo.Rest is easy.Meego is only for serious power user. My advice is not to play with it. If you want, let me know how it is. QUOTE(vaizard @ Jun 29 2011, 01:50 PM) There is no such thing as "rooting" for Maemo. At least comparing to Android.Full system access is available in all Maemo & MeeGo device but to prevent regular users to messing up system one main file (rootsh) is left.Anyone who want full system access can simply download this file to have full access to your device. You can gain control either by typing "root" or "sudo gainroot" BTW N9's MeeGo Harmattan also have terminal with root access but with much more user friendly way to enable root access. QUOTE(vaizard @ Jun 29 2011, 04:47 PM) oic.. Seems correct provided you .ipk file is actually in MyDocs.so sifu,, wat is the correct way to type this sh in xterm? sudo gainroot cd MyDocs chmod +x fifa10.sh sh fifa10.sh |

QUOTE(mashimarow @ Jun 29 2011, 07:15 PM) now the problem is I use deb to install, so it is installed in \home\opt\preenv\usr\palm\applications\(game folder). The .deb files were packaged to be installed in opt directory.so all those sh file not going to work anymore? what if I go in sh file and alter all the directory inside? If you want to install the games in custom directory you need to install manually using the .ipk files. I think sh should still work. |
