Sorry mate, you must be asleep or browsing eBay, no 1st post for you. Haha!

By the way, heard from AW13 that the Asian Cup 2011 booklet is in his hands already. Once again, thank you! smile.gif

As for CNY, I thought it was thoroughly enjoyable! Nothing beats going back home for some good food & family bonding! I hope you had an equally good (and hot!) time in Bintulu as well.

Chorus
Blue is the colour, football is the game
We're all together, and winning is our aim
So cheer us on through the sun and rain
'cause Chelsea, Chelsea is our name

Verse 1
Here at the Bridge whether rain or fine
We can shine all the time
Home or away, come and see us play
You're welcome any day

Chorus
Blue is the colour, football is the game
We're all together, and winning is our aim
So cheer us on through the sun and rain
'cause Chelsea, Chelsea is our name

Verse 2
Come to the Shed and we'll welcome you
Wear your blue and see us through
Sing loud and clear until the game is done
Sing Chelsea everyone.

new thread, new hope, but i still have to give my damning analysis of the pool game tongue.gif

first of all we're severely lacking creativity in the middle. i'm looking at lampsy and essien here. both looked off the pace and it was no wonder didier and torres could hardly get a sniff. nico could only do so much, but that superb sunderland performance seems to be a flash in the pan, probably never to be repeated again this season against well organised teams.

goal could've been avoided. it was a shocking mistake and carlo needs to sit cech and brana both down together with terry, and ensure it never happens again. it really was embarrassing, playground defending.

i'm a firm believer of self-motivation, so the lack of fight and commitment shown by the lads when we went a goal down, was heartbreaking. it really was. i refuse to point to carlo for not firing them up because i trusted the lads to raise their game after watching utd and arsenal dropping points. instead they retreated into their shells, our play actually became worse as the game progressed and we began looking like the away side. no chelsea fan at the bridge that day deserved to watch such dross. the lack of noise around the stadium was probably because they were just as bewildered at what they were witnessing.

another point that has to be made is, how long can carlo afford to persevere with drogba? he looks a shadow of his former self and lost possession on his own, about 9 times out of 10. we expected his aerial prowess to create some chances for torres, yet i don't recall him winning a single header against carragher. in fact i clearly remember torres winning a header which fell nicely for didier instead!

diamond won't work without some artistry in the middle. ramires would've helped with his direct running, or even josh could've made a difference with some penetrative passing. lampard doesn't look like himself anymore, and it shows how we've missed his goals/assists.

mikel couldn't do much and if i'm not mistaken his first yellow was due to essien losing possession, forcing him to scythe gerrard down. ashley cole and bosingwa didn't contribute anything going forward. our midfield is beginning to look the least threatening of the top four and that's cause for serious concern. if we don't freshen things up in the middle during the summer, the same problems will begin to crop up. all of a sudden not keeping either one of kakuta or studge appears to be a huge mistake. let's hope its not.

fulham next, and my vote goes to a return of the 4-3-3. stick torres on the right if need be but the best solution is still to bench didier, slot torres in the middle and put kalou out wide. malouda to return on the left and show what he's made of. carlo, its time to drop some of the big egos. forget the title, we need to create some breathing room between us and spurs now! KTBFFH! smile.gif

I wonder what formation CA going to play. From my observations, Torres is only good in playing lone striker which is already proven, especially against us in Anfield which resulted 2-0. If CA really deploy him as lone striker, where Drogba gonna stand? I wonder what kind of performance if Drogba play aloneside with Torres in a 4-4-2 formation. hmm.gif Hopefully Ramires can start over Mikel next game. Mikel had been losing his touch recently. I miss Benayoun now. sad.gif

kerpy said it right. and also some pundits before the show.

our midfield isnt supplying the ammunition our strikers need. first of all, malouda usually helps with the crossing and build up play but he is on the bench due to his horribly inconsistent form.

nico shined in the sunderland game but couldnt do nuts against an organized pool defense. maybe we should pack our midfield with more players since the likes of torres and drogba arent players who drop deep.

hopefully we'll start picking up points before its too late.

hope CA find the solution before fulham game .. i do think we must drop one of them n playing like

----anelka---malouda---
---- -torres/drog--------

bcos in malouda we can get at least crosses from the left, thru ball .. until now, ashley cant work alone on the left, he need someone backup when attackin' .. or else play 4-2-2-2

lets bench drogba for next match. he's been silenced for the past few games. i prefer 4-3-3 with Anelka----Torres----Malouda starting.

LOL. this is definitely bull. actually Torres has been wanting to come to Chelsea since the world cup. David Villa did mention and he was surprised after the summer transfer window that Torres was still in pool.

on a joking note, i cracked Roman's secret! HE IS TRYING TO ASSEMBLE ALL THE BEST PLAYERS IN THE PREMIER LEAGUE! laugh.gif

John Terry and Ashley Cole join Lampard in the squad. Denmark host England in the Parken Stadium, the same ground Chelsea will travel to later this month for our Champions League clash with FC Copenhagen.

Fernando Torres and Spain face Colombia in Madrid

David Luiz may be one of Florent Malouda's opponents when France play Brazil and Ramires is also a candidate for inclusion in Brazil's starting line-up. The re-match of the 1998 World Cup Final takes place in the same stadium in Paris.

Jose Bosingwa has travelled to Switzerland where Portugal take on what will be a young Argentina team in Geneva.

Didier Drogba and Salomon Kalou are in France for Ivory Coast's friendly against Mali.

John Mikel Obi is part of Nigeria's squad which travels to Lagos for a quickly-arranged friendly against Sierra Leone.

Petr Cech will play against Croatia if selected while Branislav Ivanovic is with Serbia for a meeting with Israel in Tel Aviv.

Ashley Cole 'surprised’ to be voted England player of the year

Cole was voted England player of the year in a poll on the FA website, after a year in which he was one of the few players to emerge from the World Cup with his reputation untarnished. Steven Gerrard came second in the poll, with Adam Johnson third.

The Chelsea left-back has had a turbulent relationship with supporters during a career in which his private life has frequently been in the spotlight. He is also reviled by Arsenal fans over the circumstances of his departure in 2006.

“It came as a big surprise to me,” he said. “I never thought I would get this award with all the other players who were in the running. I never thought it would be me, but I’m very proud and thankful to the fans.”

Cole’s unlikely transformation from pariah to fans’ favourite is all the more surprising given that when interviewed on ITV before the last year’s FA Cup final, Cole admitted he would prefer to win the double with Chelsea than the World Cup with England.

The award comes two years after Cole was booed by the Wembley crowd in 2008 when his mistake led to a Kazakhstan goal.

hope CA find the solution before fulham game .. i do think we must drop one of them n playing like

----anelka---malouda---
----  -torres/drog--------

bcos in malouda we can get at least crosses from the left, thru ball .. until now, ashley cant work alone on the left, he need someone backup when attackin' .. or else play 4-2-2-2

iva---luiz---jt---ashley
----essien--lamps-----
nico-------------malou
----torres-drogs-------
*
4-3-1-2

Torres-Kalou
Anelka
Malouda-Ramires-Lampard
Cole-Terry-Luiz-Bosingwa
Cech

I don't want kalou to play behind torres because Christmas tree's attack is too poor.
Kalou is lively in front, who know it could turn out a scary attacking line?
Drogba must be bench. He is horrible shakehead.gif
You will be surprise to see me not including essien right? Yes, no place for Essien. He need some rest, he has been doing a lot of wrong passes all the time. Cost us some important possession.
Lampard go back to right side, Supporting Bosingwa in attack.

If we go back to 4-3-3, where's Anelka gonna play? I really love Anelka when he's playing behind two strikers. He didn't do anything against Liverpool because our strikers aren't combine well. I am sure it will be better. Give Torres some time.
So, I am still preferring 4-3-1-2.

Not bad but Lampard,Essien's form is worrying.
Anelka is doing good behind the two striker. IMO, he did prety well against Liverpool too. Just our attack didn't combine well.

Guss Hiddink poised to come back to Chelsea.

For Fulham game, I would prefer this lineup; (4-1-3-2)

Cech
Ivanovic, Luiz, Terry, Cole
Ramires
Malouda, Lampard, McEachran
Torres, Anelka

With Ramires holding back, I'm much more relax compare to Mikel. Perhaps McEachran can support him a little. Malouda goes right, yes he can do cut-ins from right side and force the CB to block him. Torres be target man, Anelka SS.

QUOTE(madfag @ Feb 8 2011, 08:50 AM)
kerpy said it right. and also some pundits before the show.

our midfield isnt supplying the ammunition our strikers need. first of all, malouda usually helps with the crossing and build up play but he is on the bench due to his horribly inconsistent form.

nico shined in the sunderland game but couldnt do nuts against an organized pool defense. maybe we should pack our midfield with more players since the likes of torres and drogba arent players who drop deep.

hopefully we'll start picking up points before its too late.
*
what we desperately need is either width, or some creativity in the middle. somehow i still feel ramires with his energizer bunny running, will wreak havoc on teams trying to park the bus. has some creativity up his sleeves too so
who knows how well he can do in a diamond formation. worth a shot, since josh probably won't be 'risked.'

4-3-3 will only work with malouda firing on all cylinders which isn't the case now. but i'd still prefer it because it's our 'bread and butter' formation so to speak, which we flourished with last season.

QUOTE(kucingmainan @ Feb 8 2011, 09:49 AM)
lets bench drogba for next match. he's been silenced for the past few games. i prefer 4-3-3 with Anelka----Torres----Malouda starting.
*
as much as we've all been trying to avoid it, benching drogba should be given proper consideration now. its not just his lack of incisiveness, but he's been giving away possession and breaking down attacks waaaaayy too often for the past 5,6 games.

if we're top of the table with a reasonable lead, perhaps my tone would be different. the thing is we don't have that luxury, hence decisive measures must be taken. carlo showed he had the guts to exclude him against spurs, i'm hoping he'll repeat the trick against fulham.

let torres take his favourite CF position, get some goals, and hopefully light a fire under didier to storm back into form. if it doesn't, well....we can always just keep torres there. that's the best bit about having quality backup smile.gif

i'm fine with malouda on the left, but my vote goes to kalou on the right instead of nico. mainly because he's more of a winger than the frenchman, not to mention his dribbling is more direct.

quite interested about the hiddink recall rumour, to assist carlo. that one might have some legs on it. hmm.gif

unfortunately, their form and will says otherwise.

now carlo should play torres on his preferred position...then the goals will flow...and we must play with 2 strikers...not 3...so 4-4-2 will be a good choice....i would like to see this lineup...

-------------------------------cech-----------------------------

--ivanovic------------david----------terry-----------a.cole--

--essien------------ramires--------lampard------malouda--

---------------------torres------------anelka-------------------

this is pure 4-4-2......with on right wings..iva will take over..and left flank by either a.cole/malouda......essien can comes in for torres or help ramires to try shoot long-range goals.....ramires...he can goes up, down and supply to both strikers upfront....lampard...will be playmaker......torres - anelka will just wait for the supply or anelka can drop back for assist torress to score......where else terry will be holding centre half..david is capable of defending and attack....like carvalho..score like a striker....haha...so...if they play as wht i mention...i'm sure this team-work lineup is really good for 3 pts consistently...

peace..

Robben is so prone to injury last time, that most probably be the main reason..in return we got 24mils of good money..believe it or not, thats the highest transfer fees received by us doh.gif

yessssssss that was my entire point!!! not too mention they were more creative/fairish and less selfish players. Their jobs is to assist.

now torres/drogba/anelka are all natural positioned strikers, all wan to score themselves only...

that's right. they talk the talk like they're ready to take on the world, but when its crunch time, they can't back it up with their performance.
admittedly, we've been missing that little bit of good fortune. the alleged handball by lucas was a tough one, but glen johnson's barge on iva was as blatant as they come. considering we were at home, we're entitled to feel a bit miffed. i think its been awhile since we've had some proper game changing decisions being called in our favour, but even if we nicked a goal a point would still be a disappointing result.

what do u guys make of didier's comments on the dressing room being in a 'bad mood?' am i the only one annoyed at his remarks since he's one of the main culprits in contributing to this supposed atmosphere? how many games have we been giving him the benefit of the doubt with regards to malaria again..ten?

Pearce singled out McEachran, 17, for special praise.

He said: "Chelsea think extremely highly of him and you can see why. He's got ability and vision.

"All of our cutting passes came from him.

"He is an outstanding talent, similar to Jack Wilshere.

"We talk about the lack of talent in England at times.

"But when you look at the likes of Josh and Jack - to coin one of Trevor Brooking's famous old sayings - if they were wearing Spanish shirts they would be revered.

"They are outstanding players who can see a pass and the whole picture of a game a lot clearer than even I can!"

the only game i see our boys playing with good spirit recently is the Sunderland game. we ran, passed the ball well, attacked very well, had some defensive mistakes but with good attack, opponents get pushed back alot.

the rest of the games were good since we got results but i wouldnt say the performance of the whole team was satisfactory.

mario gomez - massively overrated, and i think bayern are spreading lies. gomez only 'found out' about the bid after the transfer window had closed. yeah...right.

the plaudits are raining in hard and fast for our young josh, i wonder when will carlo be 'forced' to play him at the tip of the diamond if we choose to maintain the formation.

obviously the diamond isnt working for us.

it is said that the diamond is a defensive formation. how are all the players and fans going to get used to playing defensively when we were scoring hauls of goals last season?

i think we should pack 5 in midfield and slowly build up play instead of playing 2 strikers up front, wasting a man in midfield. we dont exactly have midfield players who can get past players and make a pass.

i hope lampard can return to his usual self because we need him. where is his 20 goals a season target? maybe they will come in the champions league biggrin.gif

Was reading somewhere that our purchase of Torres may be signs of a squad rebuilding exercise, what with most of our players on the wrong side of 30. David Luiz looks a buy for the future, while Brana's decision to stay on looks like one for the future as well.

There was already speculation in the media that some of our oldies may be sold over this summer, with the likes of Didier, Flo and also Jose B being mentioned. Much like our clear-out last summer as well, when the seniors like Ballack, Deco and Belletti moved on.

we've just been linked with Neymar again.

it might be a rebuilding exercise but our midfield is quite weak at the moment. shouldnt we be looking for a midfield player? most prolly Josh will be the future number 8 but right now I dont think he can carry so much weight on his shoulders, or can he? biggrin.gif

Indeed. Neymar target refreshed. IMO Josh is the future 8 depending on how he develop, how highly we gonna rate him and how CA going to put him into his formation. I really hope that by next season he can play at least 20 games + substitutions and 30 games in overall competition. Hopefully this time we won't throw away young talents like Scott Sinclair, Ben Sahar, Di Santo and to be name a few. sad.gif

Di Santo couldnt make into the team for his standard now. I am not sure if he is a late bloomers. As for Sinclair, he got the pace, but his finishing wasnt really that good. The best youngster crops that we have is our current youth and reserve squad, in my opinion. Not only that they managed to won the Fa Youth cup, but also their participation in their respective U21/U19 team.

As aw13 was saying earlier, we might be clearing out our squard and rebuilding from fresh. Although the like of Neymar, Lukaku, Van der Wiel and several others promising prospect being linked to us, I do think that our current youngster like Sturridge, Kakuta, Bruma, Aanholt still has their future in our team, say 5-6 years from now.

And in lastest CA interview, he mentioned Luiz going to start, he doesnt confirm whether he;s going to play CB or fullback.

'The players came back [from international duty] yesterday, everything is okay, just Bosingwa has a little problem but I hope he recovers for Monday's game,' Ancelotti said. 'The other players are in good condition, some players played 90 minutes but we have time to prepare the team for the Fulham game.

With a similar squad to pick from as that which was beaten by Liverpool last weekend, Ancelotti says he is likely to press on with the two-up-front formation that combined Fernando Torres and Didier Drogba for the first time.

FA Youth Cup Chelsea 2- Barnsley 1

McEachran getting better and better now. Same goes to Lalkovic.

Hopefully next season Lalkovic can appear as occasional substitute.

Btw, always see Sala in our matchday squad lists. He don't get bored? Sitting in bench knowing he won't get to play no matter what.

Seems like CA going to stick with 3 man forward for the time being.

And Alex should be back during the second leg of CL fixture against Copenhagen.

QUOTE(aw13 @ Feb 11 2011, 03:01 PM)
Was reading somewhere that our purchase of Torres may be signs of a squad rebuilding exercise, what with most of our players on the wrong side of 30.  David Luiz looks a buy for the future, while Brana's decision to stay on looks like one for the future as well.

There was already speculation in the media that some of our oldies may be sold over this summer, with the likes of Didier, Flo and also Jose B being mentioned.  Much like our clear-out last summer as well, when the seniors like Ballack, Deco and Belletti moved on.
*
yep we're taking it step by step, with the acquisitions of luiz, ramires, and torres indicating that the owner realises we need to rebuild. if we do that while integrating the youngsters, it would be fantastic. with that in mind, i think flo and bosingwa can be retained with a view to slowly phasing out the former in favour of kakuta or maybe even tore. didier's contributions will always be etched in the club's history, but i have a feeling marseille will again attempt to bring their prized golden boy back in the summer, and we'll finally relent if the price is right.

QUOTE(madfag @ Feb 11 2011, 04:12 PM)
we've just been linked with Neymar again.

it might be a rebuilding exercise but our midfield is quite weak at the moment. shouldnt we be looking for a midfield player? most prolly Josh will be the future number 8 but right now I dont think he can carry so much weight on his shoulders, or can he? biggrin.gif
*
one of the sagas that never really died, and with malouda's recent comments about a last 'swan song' in brazil, a malouda + cash bid might well be on the cards!
well..i may as well put two and two together, before the papers do. lol laugh.gif however, i think he still has something to offer to us, with the right kind of attitude. if we end up sending him back to france and throw kakuta into the first 11, i don't think that'll be such a bad idea either.

true, a creative midfielder is what we're lacking but when u factor in malouda's age and kalou's inconsistency, an attempt to bring in neymar actually makes a lot of sense for our wing-play. with a strong brazilian contingent consisting of alex, ramires, and luiz now, i'm sure we suddenly appear to be quite an attractive proposition (if we weren't already) compared to last season. kakuta on the left, neymar on the right in an attack minded 4-3-3 anyone? lots of creativity to go around, with both more than capable of playing at the tip of the diamond if need be! smile.gif

QUOTE(KidsCode @ Feb 12 2011, 01:08 PM)
i will saz why not, doesnt work well with Reds doesnt meet its the end...
*
i admire your optimism concerning the diamond, and i wouldn't be too quick to ditch its effectiveness as well. 4-3-3 won us trophies last season, but we may have to accommodate torres now, and our attacking trident has been looking stale in all the matches prior to sunderland. a whole lot will depend on how nico performs at the tip, but just as crucial is the movement of the players around him, especially the midfield and strikers. if there's nobody to pass to, don't expect nico to go on a mazy run, beating 4-5 players and rounding the keeper for a goal. he's just not that type of player.

therefore ramires's name has to be first on the team sheet because he's such a bloody hard worker (compared to EVERYONE ELSE in our team at the moment) when it comes to making runs and space for himself. let's see if carlo agrees.

but if fulham replicate liverpool's tactics and we're stuck at 0-0, i suggest reverting back to the 4-3-3 AT HALF TIME, take didier out, put kalou on that right wing, and malouda on the left. i'm quite confident kalou and malouda can cause some havoc out wide. flex.gif

Why liverpool no give wigan 5 defender to face one? It worked for their last game.

Ps: I have a grudge against Pool for the time being.

Er, my formation is a lot different with yours.
Drogba and Essien do not deserve a start. I would give the chance to Kalou and Anelka.

-------------------p.cech----------------
bosingwa----d.luiz---j.terry----a.cole
Lampard---------Ramires----Malouda
-------------------Anelka--------------
----------Torres------------Kalou------

Malouda and lampard to provide some width play. I would like to see Bosingwa to play if he fit.

Sub drogba in if Kalou do not perform. Remember the effect in Tottenham match? Drogba turn into a beast smile.gif

If Anelka is tired, sub Essien in and form
--------ramires------------essien-------
------------------lampard---------------

Looks like we have plan B already.
And I would like to see more rotation in our squad, Carlo said he will rotate the squad for next few games. Looking forward for how our squad to make change.

Hopefully buying Torres will provide us more goals in a game, then when leading by 3/4 goals, Carlo will use these youngsters.

I'm very sure Carlo said he'll stick with Drog, Anelka and Torres.

Drog Anelka Torres can be a formidable upfront if we can play 4-3-3 Narrow...but that will exposed at the back? risky but better than diamond...

If we play diamond, bosingwa must play. Diamond is lack of width in the midfield, most of the width play will comes from the fullbacks.

Brana playing right back will definitely improve our defense but if we dont attack well enough. we'll only end up in a stalemate.

it was different last season because lampard malouda and ashley was on fire. they were either scoring or assisting didi.

Can see him having the determination to prove to CA that he has what it takes to compete with our top strikers. Now hoping more match for him in Bolton so that CA can consider starting him as starting XI in next season.

And someone please tell CA to give a new contract to Sturridge! tongue.gif

Sturridge quality undoubted, just maybe his attitude needs some adjusting.

I watched the Bolton vs Everton game, he scolded Elmander for trying to play 1-2 pass with him instead of sending a through ball in front. Hope by next season kid will be more respectful of seniors.

He already have problems with seniors in Chelsea when he start joining us. He was frozen out for few months

BTW, I don't really like Elmander.. Personally I think he is not good like Nikola Zigic.. if you guys really watch them play

wow sturridge..

OR guys.... maybe it wasn't our strikers' problems (Drogba/Anelka/Torres/Sturridge) , it is our midfields, that causing us troubles of scoring/ creating chances..

so our front men sort of frozen due to constant error and lack of feeding the ball..

Don't think that's official, but could be a very good guess/estimate. I'd rather have Malouda, Lamps and Ess in midfield, DD - Torres - Anelka upfront.

Actually, I don’t mind that at all to be honest. It shows he has the guts to speak his mind, and reprimand teammates if he feels they’re not doing their job. Remember john terry himself came on as a youngster under ranieri and started shouting orders at the seniors..look at where he is now! Not saying studge is captain material for giving elmander a mouthful, but u never know
He’s on fire for Bolton, and I do believe if he keeps it up it would spell the end for nico next season.
3 goals in 3 games for Bolton. Studge > Torres. (for now at least, hehe) tongue.gif

Hard to believe yes, but a deco type player could make a world of difference to our team and formation now. In time, perhaps kakuta will make that role his own.

Goalkeeper Matej Delac is still awaiting his debut. Matic will join Benfica on a permanent deal, as part of the David Luiz transfer, once his loan in Holland is completed.

i thought nemanja matic was part of the deal?

wooooo what a killer strike from studge! sublime technique with the outside of his left foot. he could possibly turn out to be our best buy smile.gif
hope he goes straight into the first team next season. hmm wonder if carlo will drop didier...if he does, i would applaud the decision, regardless of how torres performs. reputation alone should not earn you a starting place in any team.

opsss. sorry i read wrong. lol. apologies!

nah. danny himself said that he wants to return to the bridge after his loan spell and play for us. yes im sure danny loves playing on the field, but i doubt that he wants to play for clubs like bolton, no disrespect but i dont think that they are gunning for major trophies like the premier league and champions league.

danny would definitely have the chance to collect these big medals with us. he wants to go on loan to gain more on field experience and it seems that owen coyle is giving him that chance. it also seems that he is taking that chance very well. good for danny, i have no doubt that he wants to play for us in the future.

Hope Sir Carlo's bravery is repayed kindly tonight.

Results tonight not so important then, at least showed Carlo actually have balls to make changes.

BTW, I don't agree that we should take back Danny now. He has blended into Bolton's system for now, let him flourish there first. We didn't hear Arsenal crying for Wilshere back when he was there either.

Excellent play by Luiz, he just have to control his run properly.

Torres is frustrating, he has to score the ball from Luiz.

I wonder, why are the set up from us are so poor and why are all our players NOT linked up?

I am watching Skysports streaming, Ray Wilkins is talking about us!
He's asking some width from us, everytime we play the ball to the flanks, we attack very well, there are lot of space in two flanks.

Why is Torres playing in the left side? He's a right footed player, he have to play on the right.

Almost a defeat. Why. Our players, our management, are all in a blur now.

I saw Carlo showed some face reactions to Drogba, then drogba showed a "I don't know" face.
We need an assistant to assist Carlo. You can't have only one view in football, you need more people's opinions.

so that sums out chelsea season... poor game overall, we are losing to opponent heavy defensive and counter attacks...

the attackers as always no idea how to penetrate the defence and give strike for goal...

thanks to cech we are not totally embrased, but then to me what a bad draw... haiz...

Speaking about our players, Luiz is a gold.
We might lost this game without him, not to say about the penalty.

And, his overhead cross was awesome. I am bored with our set plays, so boring and so plain.

i dont see the creativity anymore. i can see the players are trying hard to win the game, but they are playing like a last minute gathered team.

disappointed with the draw. we really need to win teams like these. we had the chances, we just needed to finish it.

i think carlo has lost the dressing room.....the players seem to be just going through the motions these days. no spirit, no desire, no passion, no commitment, no urgency. cech, ramires and luiz are excused though. i expect some big changes before the season is over, especially since we now lie in fifth. roman will not tolerate this much longer. u heard it here first, although i'm sure most of u have been thinking about it. sigh.

we start in 433, half time we still in 433, 1st sub still 433,2nd sub also 433,until fulltime the formation still is 433 , a boring plain game ...

when drogba playing CF, can see his wrestle with defender to get the ball on counter attack, he normally shield the ball with his body. at least he managed to get a foul.

with torres playing upfront, seems like he prefer to run pass the defender with hoping they miss the ball and fooled by his body movement. should challenge it at least.

can see cech shaking his head during counter attack.

the good:
1. Luiz's full debut match impressed me A LOT except the last tackle
2. Cech save us from being embarrassed

the bad:
1. We are in 5th placed now!

the weird:
1. I don't know what the hell is wrong with our team

i think drogba was quite good when he came in.

i just dont know if carlo has loss the dressing room, but then again, its leaning towards that.

i just hope sometime between now and the end of the season, we get a good run and stay in the champions league.

i felt that drogba have a very BIG ego of always-in-starting-11
he's playing a bit different as a sub. or was it only me see it that way..

Yeah.. he was all covered up with scarves..
Don't think he'll be back with Chelsea as long as Abramovich is around..
Maybe he is scouting for Drogba.. hehe.
Roy Hodgson is there too..

I think Carlo need a proper assistant.. Should give Carlo a chance until end of season at least for the Double that he gave us.
I don't want us to keep on changing coach each time we have a bad run..
I still believe the player are at fault here.. still in bad form except for selected few~~

read it somewhere that if its going to be postponed, the game to be play towards the end of the season. the title may have been won by them already.

specially with the weird part. I'd say we no longer have creativity. everything is plain n boring.

Anyway, from my POV, we were playing a narrow 4-3-3 ? so very narrow...doesnt look like us in the past where malouda n kalou can cross-sprint everywhere. now everything became stagnant...

Luiz has gone up as if he's not a CB... also we cant produce result...apa ni sad.gif

Next EPL game is another Park the bus team, Birmingham.

Against these kind of teams, really no point having holding midfielder, since they go attack anyway.

Hopefully Josh can get a chance to play. Lampard can be drop if he poor since JT can be dropped also.

Please! I don't want the humiliation of finishing below Liverpool and Spurs.

BUT when can Chelsea back on track? At least to claim fourth place to qualify for Champion League.

If don't qualify, maybe Chelsea will crack.

cant put the blame on torres tho if our midfield was not supplying enough ammo for him... thats how he played during his days at liverpool... hes totally different player compared to drog... torres likes to run pass defenders and plays behind them... while drog uses his physical presence to get the ball...

luiz was impressive yesterday n even switch places with brana... ramires always impressed me with his work rate... we only looked alive for the last 20 minutes...

lampard has made to many errors for his standard...

agree to drop lampard to the bench.. give josh a chance to show his creative mind.

ramires, david luiz, cech is awesome

for the match against fulham, i am a bit dissapointed but not as dissapointed as the match against liverpool. because i can see torres manage to get some brilliant touches, just that the control is not there.. he perform much better than the game before. so, that is a good sign..

disappointed. i'm done with BPL challenge. hopefully we can qualify for UCL. with the way we play atm, we might end up missing UCL spot. the flow from midfield to attack seem lacking. i think torres missing through pass like gerrard always do in reds color. our midfield department need some changes. with lampard no longer at his best, the best way CA can do is to experimenting on josh. bench lampard and gv game time for josh. time is almost up for the veterans. UCL spot is at stake. i wonder why essien is starting last nite. he didnt play well for the past few games.

hopefully we can bounce back in the UCL. the lads need a win to boost their confidence. i really think CA need to field josh. gv him some game time to grow his confidence. who knows he might hv the same impact with danny at bolton.

very disappointed...what to say..carlo needs to quickly figure out the best system that suits torres in the game,he can't just stick to the same formation and expecting a different result..

boy a what solid performance by david luiz..steady at the back apart from the foul that leads to penalty...this guy just can play everywhere..cb,rw,dm,am..loves to dribble and a overhead kick lol...great lad...hope our team can get their shit back together...otherwise copenhagen will trash us...huhu

I dunno how many of u see yesterday game. Yesterday TORRES did get some creative supply from our midfield just that he did not control it well or finish it. There is a lot of through ball attempt by our player also.

I think the problem is the formation or the way we play. Dont you all think we crowd the opposition half too fast ? Everybody was near the penalty box that push all the opposition player fall back and thus create a bus in front of goal. This will limit our through ball and crosses as there is so many player there to block or clear it. I will prefer our midfield play closer to half way line thus giving our striker have space to maneuver as well as space for cross and though ball.

Just look at MU vs MC game. Most of the MU player was outside the box only ROONEY was running inside. Sometimes he even run wide to let others cut in to confuse the defense. What is the chances of ROONEY doing the overhead kick if there is 10 MC player inside the box ?

We need more width not crowding the penalty box. With MALOUDA, ANELKA, DROGBA, TORRES playing together will only make thing worse. CF tend to play near the box.

our 'pull the rabbit out of a hat' type of players used to be lampsy and didier. note the key phrase: USED TO BE.
this season they have been....well below their standards to put it lightly. they're ageing while still involved in their respective country's first team, and that has a taken a huge toll on their energy and dynamism. they can't cope with the strain and its having a detrimental impact on the team. its no coincidence our BEST outfield players yesterday were both below the age of 25 in the form of ramires and luiz.

bad idea. if we adopt the same bus parking tactic even at home, it won't be long before the crowd get restless and jeer, which will make the team nervous, resulting in even more poor touches and lethargic, overly cautious play.

i do wonder though how long a supposedly 'better' coach could get this team 'fired up' so to speak. remember guus was only here for a short while, so there's no telling how long our 'honeymoon' would last before our old squad runs out of gas.

i'm seriously worried. we don't have the players to inspire change through some dynamic performances on the pitch, (or we do actually, but prefer not to use them, instead we just send them out on loan) and carlo seems at a loss to turn things around, while continuing to be apprehensive towards dropping 'star' names such as lampard and essien. losing out on fourth means we'll be stuck with an unhappy 50 million pound signing, while becoming a very unattractive destination for whoever it is we plan to rejuvenate the squad with. forget about the neymars, hazards and lukakus. we'll be lucky if the ashley youngs even give us a second look.

is there a way out of this mess? it doesn't take a football expert to predict that everton will come and park the bus this weekend, and my fear is it'll feel all too familiar after 15 mins. my oh my we're in trouble.

We can't blame Torres after all. Give him more time to adapt with Chelsea's football. Even Berbatov spends a year to be a top scorer like today.

Same goes for Drogba, he's got malaria dude. I think Chelsea will be better next season.

Carlo is really frustrating. Everyone can see that the midfield is misfiring, yet he keep on playing off-form Lampard and Essien. He plays 433 yet plays snail-paced Anelka as RW even though we have Kalou, Sturridge(back then) even Kakuta would've done better there. Too bad Zhirkov is injured, we have no cover for LW so Malouda will do even though he's off-form. Last night we see what a little competition and bench time can do to primadonnas like Drogba. He stepped up and played with more passion than I've seen all season. What Carlo really needs is the BALLS to bench underperforming so called "untouchables" until they deserve to be in the squad!

Yup! By the way, if you read Heineiken's 'Wall' on Facebook, it was mentioned that they will be bringing Zola over as a trophy tour ambassador.

And yes, it was also announced via Hitz.FM during the promo.

Hmm, don't think Torres will score against Everton. He doesn't have 'it' yet.

Probably will not score against Blackpool as well. Sorry for the bitter but week in week out, Chelsea is playing very plain football.

I also gulped to see we are just above Liverpool, they had really rough patches back then, and look at what happens now? few points away from us only.

That sucks.

yup torres is cuptied for everton. looks like we'll have to wait awhile before we can see him in action again. but it could work wonders for the lad, with extra training while getting to know his teammates better. looked fairly sharp vs fulham, although he needs to rediscover his first touch. amazing ball over the top by luiz which would've normally ended up at the back of the net when it dropped for the spaniard.

anyone caught gattuso's appalling outburst against tottenham after the final whistle? looked like a man possessed and topped it off with a half decent zidane impersonation (nowhere near as powerful as the french legend's 'header' though). let's see what those UEFA 'defenders of the beautiful game' do about it. made didier's little rapstar tantrum on camera not too long ago seem rather tame in comparison. it would be quite pathetic if he just got away with a slap on the wrist when didier was given the whole shebang. rolleyes.gif

oh damn. yeah i forgot. luiz can play in fa cup and torres can play in champions league.

at the moment, i wish it was vice versa.

i have nothing against AC milan, but gattuso should definitely get the punishment Drogba receives annually. anything less harsh and we all know UEFA's officials are definitely bull feces from head to toe.

Luiz is just awesome!

Torres runs really promising but his finishing quite not like DD before this...hit them with power...

I will give Torres until the end of this season...but I optimist we can be 3rd...and the worst case scenarios..4th...

Ramires,Cech,Luiz - Very Good
Essien,Malouda - Struggling....

i have a feelings that lots of our player will leave end of this seasons..most probably Drogba, Flomo, Mikel & Bosingwa..i foreseen Neymar will come..

regarding the 1st assistant, i dun think CA have any power to choose..look wut happen when they sacked Ray..Michael came in out of nowhere..

If that happen...
Drogba-Lukaku maybe...
Flomo-Hazard/Neymar
Mikel-Josh already here...hehehe but Mikel have a big potential...
Bosingwa - GVD Wiel..but I dont that will be a wise move...i rather stick to Bos for another 2 season...

now its clearly proven...whether we predict score or not...cfc still play sucks!....so i wanna resume back prediction score in this thread..hope u guys dont mind....i have this feeling torres will open his account sooner..maybe against manu....or copenhagen....the thing is..carlo is blur of selection of tactics & players.....for me rotation will be fruitful when some player injured...
1st choose the players that u think its fit into the formation and tactic....and used the players in their preferred position....do not force them to play in their weak position....u will not gain anything...unless that player is capable of playin any position like david...he can play any where at the back!....if i'm the coach...i will put this line-up....i dont give a damn on star players...

Why so many of us keep thinking Ramires is holding midfielder. He is only good offensively, in fact he played as attacking midfielder for Brazil.

Agreed. He is just not. Yes, he can tackle, he can track back, but his positioning is weird. He's best to freely roam. If we can build Josh to start attack from deep, just like what Xabi Alonso and Pirlo used to do for their respective team, believe me, we can get the best out of Torres.

Okay there's just one point i'd like to make, which is; who was our assistant under the ill-fated scolari? yes that's right...ray wilkins. smile.gif
there was a time where i was thinking along the lines of that theory with u guys, but its pretty clear he wasn't pulling the strings then, just as he wasn't under carlo. one thing's for sure, its difficult to keep our players 'motivated' for an extended period, and that could be a combination of the coach, with the players' old age. like i said before, the young players such as ramires and luiz seem to be naturally imbued with a fighting spirit that has long disappeared from a lot of our seniors. the obvious solution is to keep the squad at a reasonable age where motivation remains part of their psyche, since one of carlo's weakness is getting the best out of old players for an extended amount of time. (yes he did it last season, but this term our lacklustre performances have become a worrying trademark)

thankfully it looks like roman has realised this, hence his willingness to dip into his pocket. hopefully its only a matter of time before carlo decides enough is enough, and starts to properly integrate at least two out of three of our most promising players in the form of josh, studge and kakuta.
future looks fairly bright, but first we must secure that 4th spot before we can continue restructuring. KEEP THE BLUE FLAG FLYING HIGH!

to be honest, i think its good that aanholt, kakuta and studgy went out on loan.

all reserve players must go on loan to gain experience. the other big clubs like united and arsenal are also doing it. we are no different. all 3 players need to go out and gain the experience of playing regular high paced football before they can be integrated into the team. we might not win the premier league this season, but so what? we just won the double last year, and its no easy feat. when the young lads are back next year, they'll be better players and maybe even all of them will get more starts.

yes its tough to see that many dont make the cut, but im sure our academy knows what they're doing. im pretty sure it happens to all the academies in the world, only very few make the cut and as fans, we like all of the young lads playing for us right now, but we have to face reality that only few will remain.

Yeah, they all need games to learn something.. With games, they'll gain priceless experience

and as for Josh McEachran, he doesn't need to go out because he is playing in 5 different competitions!
Youth Cup, Reserve Games, EPL, Champions League and FA Cup.. and he is vital to the first two

oh my oh my, if CA plan to use 4-3-3 again with the following player, i hope we can scores.

Chelsea (probable, 4-3-3):

Bosingwa, Luiz, Terry, Cole;
Ramires, Essien, Lampard;
Anelka, Drogba, Malouda.

QUOTE(madfag @ Feb 18 2011, 09:12 AM)
to be honest, i think its good that aanholt, kakuta and studgy went out on loan.

all reserve players must go on loan to gain experience. the other big clubs like united and arsenal are also doing it. we are no different. all 3 players need to go out and gain the experience of playing regular high paced football before they can be integrated into the team. we might not win the premier league this season, but so what? we just won the double last year, and its no easy feat. when the young lads are back next year, they'll be better players and maybe even all of them will get more starts.

yes its tough to see that many dont make the cut, but im sure our academy knows what they're doing. im pretty sure it happens to all the academies in the world, only very few make the cut and as fans, we like all of the young lads playing for us right now, but we have to face reality that only few will remain.
*
how i wish i could truly trust in our loan policy, but after what happened with stoch and jack cork, these days i'm not so sure. it seems if our young talents aren't the next messi/zidane/ronaldo by the time their 18/19, they hardly stand a chance. with regards to stochy, i'm quite confident he would be tearing up that right side of our 4-3-3 and rotating with nico if he was still with us. as it stands, nico went stale in that formation due to the lack of competition from kalou and the rest is history.

let's see what awaits gael and studge. i have a good feeling about danny as he's really banging them in,and if mark hughes just gives gael a full 90 mins to strut his stuff, surely he will not disappoint. as for josh who's still with us, when i watched wilshere holding his own and even shining against barca's first 11, i couldn't help but think josh is more than capable of doing that for us. somebody will simply have to make way for him in the near future, and if it was up to me i'd start blooding him more often, and as soon as possible. due to our poor record with giving loanees a chance, i'm strongly against the idea of sending him out next season. but from the looks of it that's exactly what's going to happen, so at least let's find a decent team with a similar playing philosophy to ours (from LAST SEASON, surely not this one, lol laugh.gif ) where he'll be given a chance. my vote goes to everton.

Is that dude, Ryan Bertrand gonna play?

Btw, most likely Paolo will fill in RB for us.

it do hav pro and cons actually.it's not really abt having match experience.
at the same time it's important for the players to stay within the club winning mentality

u see why fabio and rafael never went out on loan (correct rite?)

i don't think they will develop good mental strengths on clubs like scunthorpe or even coventry.

and it's not easy for the epl teams to take ur young players out on loan, unless u might be a 'premier league material'

jackcork is england youth team's captain if i'm not mistaken..but now where he is? still playing in championship team (ofcourse on loan)

mancienne? called up by capello once..but ...erhhhh having the surrounding of players who want to 'just survive' the game weekin week out is not good for them too.

and i dont think he will make the cut on the chelsea squad

hopes nothing goes wrong on bruma.
he really needs playing time..and it's important he get the good surrounding around him (facilities, quality teammates etc etc..sorry for my poor english)

Oh my god. Lampard and malouda should've score.

Well, I see some big difference in our team, we try play faster, instead holding the ball for a long time.

Lampard was not good tonight, but he had some good run.

I would like to see,
Malouda out, Josh in
Kalou out, Anelka in.

Well done everton. Chelsea tried hard to shake off this damning form. But it was not meant to be. Copenhagen here we come, to try it again.

I think we have to be realistic about our current situation where we are nowhere near to our previous season form. When games have to decide by penalty, you only can blame the players for not putting extra effort during the normal 90 minutes game. Whoever miss or whoever scored, they deserves respect for having the guts to take up the responsibility to take the penalty. I guess this should be a trophyless season for us. All the players are lazy, not up to standard, forwards no backtrack after loosing posession. Since we only left BPL and I don't see how can we catch with the point gap and UCL, perhaps some youngsters should start playing already. With our standards, I don't see how we can win UCL title this season. I'm expecting a revamp during end of the season. RA is not going to like this piece of news.

must be that kambing from MU tered.. lols.

Too bad Chelsea cannot score during the 90 minutes and why the heck did Ivanovic needs to commit a foul near the penalty box at the last minute of the extra time second half..
This season wasn't meant to be for Chelsea.. wouldn't be a surprise if we have a trophyless season with this current form and luck.
Time to buck up and fight for top 4 spot and Champions League.

i don't what u guys are on about..this is a GREAT result for us! yes u heard me..its positive thinking time biggrin.gif

we were dragged all the way to extra time and pens, and u could see the lads were tired. no sense piling up more fixtures in a competition that isn't a priority. it'll only sap even more energy from our old folks and reduce our capability to secure fourth, which has been our main objective for more than a month now. trust me, an extended run in the fa cup will only mean HUGE problems with our already creaking, and thin squad. i don't need to tell you that as you can see from the performances yourselves. although to be fair, we played quite well against everton and congrats to them for the win.

get a result vs copenhagen, make sure we progress to earn more revenue for the club, and focus on fourth! rebuild in the summer. keep the blue flag flying high smile.gif

hmm let's see who can get our man of the match award.....its a tough fight between didier and ramires, but i'm going for rami! he was amazing again, in defence and attack. put in some fantastic crosses, couple of shots on target and never stopped helping to protect the back four. plus he won a legitimate penalty that wasn't given! flop of the match for me is lampard.

it might seem harsh to some of u since he did get us a goal, but he could have easily had a hattrick today with the amount of chances. and come on, from that distance and with the ball popping up beautifully like that, i'm sure most forumers here would've put that away laugh.gif lost the amount of times he gave away possession as well. again, i know i'm being harsh but i'm getting quite tired of 'untouchable' players within our squad. and before i forget, nico can definitely share the award with him!

paulo was invincible at RB! really put bosingwa's defending/crossing to shame, and it was his pinpoint delivery which caused havoc in everton's box before the goal. if only he were 5 years younger, i'd start him against copenhagen.

best player would be drogba / ramirez...
worst would be kalou... (still got get why take off malouda, as he was at 2 position to score goal, kalou is like nowhere to be seen)

it looks like CA never have any plan B, either we park the bus after score, or try to look for the killer goal .. change formation, bring out kalou n sub in josh, or push essien or maybe drogba as another central defender ...

Added on February 20, 2011, 2:10 amn theres no trophy for us to take pics with when they come to malaysia in july soon .. =( sad ...

Chill la....they are getting back to their old form. I know we lost another possibility of trophy addition in the display cupboard. But UCL is still on sight. Heck even Arsenal can defy the impossible, beating barca after a goal down.

Just concentrate for UCL next year position in the league and UCL competition . I think when we lay our hands off the FA cup, we got less match to deal with and got fresher leg for UCL. thumbup.gif

I'm supporting Chelsea through thick and thin. how bout u?

We'd been dominating the past few games already, Liverpool, Fulham, this game, but still can't score properly.

Hopefully Carlo do something!!!!!!!!

Hi I am here again. Of course, I am disappointed, but we actually did quite a good job.

From my view, this is the best performance by us from the recent defeat/draw. If we play like this against Liverpool and Fulham, we can win those game.

I believe there are some problems in our management. We played SO narrow. No width at all. Most of width comes from fullback. But if you notice, we always get a bad result when we are against a good left and right back.

I don't know why Kalou and Malouda were playing SOO NARROW since the beginning of the game. They should provide the width. Our narrow play has been spotted by all managers as our main weakness.

Essien and Lampard still need to be sharpen. And also, we're lacking pace in the game but we improve it this game. I hope we can play a faster pace in the next few games.

Kalou and Malouda were poor, I don't see anyone mention our captain, John Terry? He had a good game. But I will give my MOTM to Ramires.
his high work rate, and almost got us a penalty.

and yeah, WE DON'T HAVE A TRUE WINGER. We have to buy one or two wingers in the next transfer. That's all I can request.

Life is just like a wheel , same goes for football, there is a time u are on top , there is a time when u r in 5th place , no FA Cup, and maybe no CL next season. let alone the title , and champ league this season. from what we hv been shown , the display on field doesn't indicate any change that we can grab on and hope we can get any trophy at all.

the good thing is , how bad we play we will always remain a team in blue with the name Chelsea FC. i didnt sign up for all this emotional rollercoaster because of the glory , the goals scored , the players , im here because the club is named chelsea fc.

yes we have the right to properly critisize but never condemn the players, manager or owner.

if you do, you might as well support barcelona or something.

one life. one love. one club. carefree since 1905.

if you wanna celebrate the glory, you have to go through the pain.

Eh, I thought Anelka played well. Because of missed penalty you all cursed him as if he suck so bad uh? None noticed when Anelka got subbed in, the game came to life? Not to mention, he was the one created our only effing goal!

If Lampard is THE Lampard, I think he would've scored at least 2 goals last night. Aging is a b1tch.

not so sure the real scope of sporting director..but Arnesan more about scouting talented youngster around the world..and he also responsible as the main man engineer the move of our current youth players...Emelano more about scouting..but Arnesan will decide who will sign for Chelsea...I dont want him to leave...

anelka totally cannot be blamed. that is his style and he is used to it.

when lampard and drogba wasnt playing, he took the penalty duties and although it was scary to watch, he scored all of them during the duo's absence.

its always a lottery with penalties, sometimes you're lucky, sometimes you're not. if you hit too hard, you might miss, if you hit too soft, the keeper can easily block if he dives the right way.

what i think we're lacking is creativity and playing as a unit. if the midfielders were more creative in creating chances and they could combine with the strikers, we wouldnt have to resort to penalties.

i dont know why im getting bored of the way team played..always the same..holding the ball..possession with no breakthrough..

maybe true we are lacking somewhat creativity since the play look so narrow in terms of strategy and the way the players perform...

The introduction of Strikers such as Torres might not rectify anything unless a good dribbler or a creative midfielder come..

EDIT: Apparently Frank Arnesen is taking our chief scout Lee Congerton together. wtf?!

if u dont fully trust your manager to do manage the transfer, Sporting Director will do that job.

Ferguson and Wenger had a full a authority on transfer on their respective clubs. they dont have a Sporting Director.

Guardiola and Mourinho had a Sporting Director above them. so they just keep focusing on 1st team affair only, like Ancelotti.

Carlo has admitted only two outfield players are performing in the form of JT and iva. I disagree. Ramires has been head and shoulders above everyone else, so that makes it three. The rest of the team should hang their heads in shame. Or better yet, get it screwed on and start showing more desire. Anything less than a win vs Copenhagen (even a narrow one would do) and I think there might just be an announcement on our website come Wednesday morning.
That would be the absolute worst of outcomes, so the boys better play out of their skins if they really love the club. I don’t care what carlo says in the dressing room, they should bloody well know better. This is actually our biggest match because if it ends in defeat and carlo gets the sack with nobody qualified standing by, we’re heading for a downward spiral in the league.
Still looking forward to the game though! laugh.gif

in reality, there is a huge doubt that we'll progress far in the champions league, let alone march to wembley.

but i still choose to be blind, and believe that we will march to wembley come May.

Added on February 21, 2011, 9:23 amand if our bad run continues, i think Roman will definite swing the axe, sacking Carlo. to be honest, i kinda like Carlo compared to the other managers, he is the one giving chances to the likes of mceachran and aanholt. but regardless, we have to improve the gameplay and stay competitive for the first team too.

Anelka needs to perform when called upon, and he did not do that when he took the penalty. Yes, that's his style but def time to reflect (i.e. change style or something) as it's already predictable and as what the commentator said, Anelka effectively ruled out the other corner with the very short run up.

Also, when a good GK spots short run ups, they would have known how to save it. Esp so when it's predictable.

The videos you put on had Anelka going for longer run-ups than on Sat mate.

His penalty on Sat had him taking 2 steps only, i.e. short run-up.

it's Roman buy, so why bother..i'd really hope CA will stay despite winning trophy less this seasons..so reluctant watching the lads missing chance after chance especially our Mr. reliable Lampsy..at some point, i would rather have Josh in the midfield for the last game..

agree that only 2 CB & Ramires look like a Chelsea player in the game..frustrated yes..but hope is still there, finishing 3rd or 4th..then pls rebuilding and no more sacking pls..

yes, i do think Josh should be given a run instead of Essien. Lampsy definitely played better but we dont know if he will continue playing well. to be honest, i think aanholt could also be given a run if he wasnt loaned out. maybe a defensive midfielder can cover for him when he bombard down the left flank. ashley cole doesnt seem like the attacking player he was last season.

cant believe he got outrun by seamus coleman.

Try it out when you are playing futsal or football, you'll notice the difference between short and long run-ups. Even though penalties are 50-50 in going in or out, always best to prepare thoroughly, thats why you see players examining for divots around the spot to make sure that the ground is even, to avoid last-minute slips. That's also why you see GKs making movements on the line, to distract opposing players i.e. anything legal to gain an advantage over your rivals.

Hence, Heitinga's shove on Ashley just prior to him taking the penalty.

penalty or not, we simply deserved to lose. we are the defending FA cup champion yet we cant defeat an average Everton side for 210 minutes of football.

we got no penetration and creativity from midfiled and we VERY slow on counter attack. only ramires looked lively and very energetic, but he cant shoot and cant deliver killer pass.

when will ancelotti do something? lets us pray that at least we got an away draw at copenhagen.

I have no problem if we play narrow, as long as there is sufficient creativity and movement on the field. If u noticed we created many clear-cut chances, which fell mainly to malouda and lampard respectively. They failed to put them away and that was the root of the problem. It was a much improved performance compared to fulham if u ask me, but we were just not clinical enough. Width wouldn’t have helped our woeful finishing.

Chill mate. Every signing will take time to adapt. After all those amazing goals he’s scored against us, I think he’s far from ‘suck.’ If it makes u feel any better he has at least 4 of his best years ahead of him. One worry though is he seems to have lost a bit of pace, so we have to rehabilitate that part of his game. When he’s on form, I assure u his finishing is on par with the likes of villa and pato.
