I wonder what formation CA going to play. From my observations, Torres is only good in playing lone striker which is already proven, especially against us in Anfield which resulted 2-0. If CA really deploy him as lone striker, where Drogba gonna stand? I wonder what kind of performance if Drogba play aloneside with Torres in a 4-4-2 formation. hmm.gif Hopefully Ramires can start over Mikel next game. Mikel had been losing his touch recently. I miss Benayoun now. sad.gif

Petr Cech will play against Croatia if selected while Branislav Ivanovic is with Serbia for a meeting with Israel in Tel Aviv.

Guss Hiddink poised to come back to Chelsea.

For Fulham game, I would prefer this lineup; (4-1-3-2)

Cech
Ivanovic, Luiz, Terry, Cole
Ramires
Malouda, Lampard, McEachran
Torres, Anelka

With Ramires holding back, I'm much more relax compare to Mikel. Perhaps McEachran can support him a little. Malouda goes right, yes he can do cut-ins from right side and force the CB to block him. Torres be target man, Anelka SS.

It's a tactic to make their player's value go up and "fry" the news so that people would notice their players. It's old tactic btw. smile.gif

we've just been linked with Neymar again.

it might be a rebuilding exercise but our midfield is quite weak at the moment. shouldnt we be looking for a midfield player? most prolly Josh will be the future number 8 but right now I dont think he can carry so much weight on his shoulders, or can he? biggrin.gif
*
Indeed. Neymar target refreshed. IMO Josh is the future 8 depending on how he develop, how highly we gonna rate him and how CA going to put him into his formation. I really hope that by next season he can play at least 20 games + substitutions and 30 games in overall competition. Hopefully this time we won't throw away young talents like Scott Sinclair, Ben Sahar, Di Santo and to be name a few. sad.gif

Seems like CA going to stick with 3 man forward for the time being.

sauce

And Alex should be back during the second leg of CL fixture against Copenhagen.

Can see him having the determination to prove to CA that he has what it takes to compete with our top strikers. Now hoping more match for him in Bolton so that CA can consider starting him as starting XI in next season.

And someone please tell CA to give a new contract to Sturridge! tongue.gif

I think we have to be realistic about our current situation where we are nowhere near to our previous season form. When games have to decide by penalty, you only can blame the players for not putting extra effort during the normal 90 minutes game. Whoever miss or whoever scored, they deserves respect for having the guts to take up the responsibility to take the penalty. I guess this should be a trophyless season for us. All the players are lazy, not up to standard, forwards no backtrack after loosing posession. Since we only left BPL and I don't see how can we catch with the point gap and UCL, perhaps some youngsters should start playing already. With our standards, I don't see how we can win UCL title this season. I'm expecting a revamp during end of the season. RA is not going to like this piece of news.

Perhaps is time to stop pursue beauty football. We need to get our results right before even talk about playing beautiful football.

EDIT: Apparently Frank Arnesen is taking our chief scout Lee Congerton together. wtf?!

Form is temporary, class is permanent. smile.gif

We need to do better if we want to get something out of this game.

1 question...why is anelka playing is different in champion league n epl? in CL his alwaiz attack2...but EPl..alwaiz pull back the ball.....hmmm
*
Torres act as lone striker. Ge give shadow to anelka that's why he always attack. If drogba playing, that would ve different cause he always hold ball.

Duno why, when drogba came on, I have a feeling that we won't be scoring any goals now. Hope Drogba can prove me wrong.

Delighted with the result, but disappointed with lack of exposure from the youngsters. Nevertheless, is the result we wanted. They need at least 3 goals to proceed to next round. I'm expecting some youngsters to be appear in starting XI during second leg.

BPL news: Blackpool leading Tottenham by 3 goals. OMG Blackpool is doing us a huge favor now. Please at least get to fourth spot in BPL.

QUOTE(krk24 @ Feb 23 2011, 02:04 PM)
its good..then we can have alex/ivanovic & zhirkov can fill in that position!

Added on February 23, 2011, 2:09 pmgood 2-0 lead for 1st leg..but over defence are need to improve!..especially terry's yellow card tackle..it shows that how slow is him...imagine luiz at his position sure can sustain....with paced!

these are players needs to be benched next season:
terry, lampard, drogba, anelka, ashely.

these are players can replace them next season:
david luiz, josh, sturridge, torres, ann-holt

are u guys agreed?
*
You do have your own point of view but Lampard did what he suppose to do yesterday. I watched throughout the whole game and if you want to name one player to bench, I'd say Essien. He is losing his touch game by game and if Josh step up to take his role, he'd definitely put more effort during training. It's a healthy competition between him and McEachran.

Anelka was a total class player. Calm, nice first touch, perfect shooting accuracy. I thought Malouda would come off for Drogba but ended up Anelka was the one and Malouda subbed out Zhirkov. Torres is getting more comfortable up front. Just one or two more games he should be able to start scoring goals.

Sometimes you must sacrifice for the team. It's part and parcel of the game. Who knows if the player able to cross beautifully and the striker able to convert it into a goal? I'd say Terry did a good job by stopping him from crossing. Bare in mind if Terry is on the left side, the only defenders left are Bosingwa and Ivanovic and just two of them is not enough to stop the oppositions. It's just a yellow card. It's not like he's going to miss the next game. Oh yeah btw Luiz cannot play CL this season cause he's registered under Benfica. Now I hope Alex can come back ASAP so that we have a better backup for our team.

Second leg I'm expecting to see some of our youngster to play in starting XI. Josh McEachran! rclxm9.gif

Jose Mourinho come back, anyone? biggrin.gif biggrin.gif
